A wonderfully 'sunny' nursery with well lit, spacious rooms and very caring staff. I am a returning parent and have had a positive experience once again as they have aided me with my child's speech support. Hands down the best nursery in the area!

My son has been attending Little Bears on Wanstead Green since October and he has shown great improvement with his language and social skills. The transition phase was quite challenging as I was honestly daunted by the idea of leaving his care with others, but the staff have been extremely helpful and
welcoming. He now enjoys going to nursery and is thriving really well. The staff members are amazing. They genuinely care about the children's well being but also, they are accommodating and very responsive to each and every question/concern I have. Communication between parents and caregivers is very important for us and I commend the Little Bears for being excellent in this area.

My child's attended Little Bears for almost 4 years. We have always been extremely happy with the care provided by all the staff; the managers are friendly, approachable, professional, but above all, conscientious when it comes to the well-being of all children at LB's. Our child has an autumn birthday
and quite mature for her age, so we were concerned that she might begin to find a nursery setting unstimulating in the months leading up to school. We could not have been more wrong - the pre-school staff consistently encourage her to reach her potential when it comes to phonics and maths. She's able to write her name, the whole alphabet, write & count to 100, knows all the planets in the solar system, and much more. She also understands the meaning of more complex words like 'similar'. All of this whilst in a nursery setting where staff are also caring for children much younger than her. Little Bears offers an exemplary childcare and education on all accounts and we couldn't be happier.

My daughter has been with Little Bear's on Wanstead Green since she was 1. She absolutely loves coming to nursery and they have taken such good, kind, loving care of her since the day she started. She is so excited to go to nursery that she cries if we walk past it and don't go in! Her carers have been
absolutely fantastic, I cannot recommend the nursery enough.

A lovely nursery. The team always have a smile on their face. The space is amazing including a large garden and it appears clean. They always arrange exciting activities for the children to be involved in and sometimes the magic starts as you open the door you are created to decorations, lighting and
music related to the chosen celebration which really puts everyone in a good mood for the whole day.

My son started at this nursery in July 2021 at the age of 1 and left in July 2024 to start Reception in school. I am very disappointed to see that my child left nursery without being able to write his name or numbers. I understand all children develop differently, however the fact that my no concerns
were risen by the staff that my child could possibly have ADHD really does concern me, they spent 3 years with him and nothing was ever raised. My child has made such a massive improvement in 5 months since at Reception, he can now write his name and is receiving support from all the staff. Whilst in general the nursery is okay, I suggest that children should be taught more and not just left to play.

Reply from Claire Morgan, Nursery Manager at Little Bear's Nursery In Wanstead Village

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We value the perspectives of our parents and take all comments seriously as they help us improve the quality of care and education we provide.
We are sorry to hear that you now feel your son did not reach certain milestones at the nursery, specifically regarding writing his name and numbers.
Our approach at Little Bear’s is rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which emphasises learning through play as a crucial development component. By 48 months, when your son left nursery for Reception in September 2024, his fine motor skills were developing, including recognising his name and using a tripod grip when holding a pencil. This demonstrated typical development for his age and was not a concern.
We also appreciate that children develop at their own pace and are glad to hear of your son’s progress in Reception. At age 4, many children are still developing their fine motor skills, which can affect their ability to write their names or numbers consistently. It is usual for children aged approximately 48 months to 60 months (4 to 5 years) to begin to write their names with some assistance before writing independently.
Our team carefully observes and supports each child, maintaining open communication with parents to align on strategies. We encourage parents to share concerns during daily interactions or parent meetings to ensure appropriate support is provided. Having reviewed the Learning Journey, I can see that many matters were discussed between the nursery and yourself over the 3 years your son attended; however, none related to the development of his fine motor skills.
Play remains essential in fostering creativity, problem-solving, and social skills, and we continually adapt our approach to support all children’s development, including literacy and numeracy.
We sincerely hope your son continues to thrive in Reception, and we thank you again for your comments. If you would like to discuss any of your concerns further, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Little Bear's Nursery in East Village

My daughter has attended Little Bears East Village on a part-time basis since she was 10 months old (she is now almost 3). It's been especially impressive to see the improvements that the new leadership team have put in place in the last year.
In particular, the top room is now an inviting, open,
play-led space, where the kids clearly feel at home. My daughter's social confidence has grown exponentially in the last year, she's begun using phonics to decipher words, and she gets to do lots of creative and fun activities. I especially appreciate the effort that the adults take to make sure she is included in activities and social events, even on days when she's not usually at school.
The long opening hours, combined with the welcoming, warm staff, means we're comfortable leaving our daughter from 8:30 am to after 6 pm, allowing both me and my husband to do a full day's work. We tried picking our daughter up earlier, and she told us it was too soon: she was having a great time!

Our daughter has been attending Little Bear's in East Village for three months in the baby room. We could not be happier with the nursery. From the amazing, hard-working staff to the variety of fresh meals offered, we couldn't ask for a better place to send our child. Our daughter has settled in very
quickly and now cannot wait to go to nursery every morning.

Our child has been attending Little Bears East Village since June 2024. We are very happy with the experience and can't sing our praises on the staff enough.
The space is very nice, having visited a few nurseries in the area, this one was the one with the nicest environment: large rooms, floor-to-ceiling
windows and a spacious outdoor area.
The admin staff are brilliant! They are so quick to respond, professionally keep track of everything and always with a smile and problem-solving approach. Plus the children love them and are so comfortable that often ask to visit their office and say hi.
The staff within the room are warm, experienced lovely people who have made our child feel very welcome and happy. They are very accommodating to work together for children to reach individual milestones and have been of tremendous help for our child to learn to walk, use cutlery, socialise gently and share with other children, go up/ down stairs and slides (they have one in the baby room).

I cannot recommend this nursery enough, my daughter attended from 6 months to her 2nd birthday which is when we unfortunately had to leave due to a home move. My daughter thrived at this nursery and learned key socialising skills. She learned how to communicate with carers as well as the usual ABCs
and counting etc. She made great friends and had a lovely connection with the staff. Two staff members specifically in the baby room are excellent and truly care for the children.

We have found such a wonderful nursery in Little Bears. Naturally, there is nervousness around finding a nursery and leaving your little one for extended periods of time, but seeing how much the staff care for our son and how he responds to them when we drop him off has been such a lovely and rewarding
experience.
When we do a drop-off our one-year-old has huge smiles and goes straight to the staff. They have formed such a lovely bond and it's evident how much they care for the children. The staff really spend the time understanding the children's personalities and needs.
There are so many developmental activities for little ones in sensory and messy play, books, and music, and we love the updates we get throughout the day via the app of our son discovering the world.
Little Bears is truly a gem and we're grateful to have found such a lovely nursery.

Thoroughly satisfied with the daycare services provided by Little Bear's on Wanstead Green. Our daughter has responded very positively to the incredible staff, outside play areas and food provided by the nursery.
The facilities available throughout are exceptional and we have seen our daughter's character
prosper. She is receptive to the staff when being dropped off every morning and this is a real testament to their personable approach to day care. The bond between staff and children was initially clear for us to see and this is still very much true today.
The regular updates through the app are appreciated and put our minds at ease. It also really helps that there is parking space available on-site to drop/pick up your child. Moreover, there is a secure storage facility for you to leave any pushchairs, car seats etc
We would definitely recommend Little Bear's on Wanstead Green as a safe, collaborative and passionate nursery.
Thank you.

Our daughter has been attending Little Bears since September and she really loves it. She doesn't cry during drop off and the staff take really good care of her. We've seen her social skills improve a lot and she's already walking and saying more and more words each day. She's becoming more independent
and confident. As full-time working parents, it was important that she is somewhere that she is happy, safe and enjoys. The staff are really attentive and great with her and us.

My son was at this nursery for two years and it was such a lovely experience. Having previously attended another nursery for roughly two weeks before pulling him out, Little Bear's was a welcome breath of fresh air. The settling-in period was great and flexible. Staff were caring and attentive. The
staffing numbers were also always appropriate and the managers would be hands-on with the kids, knowing their names and their personalities almost to a T.
I would 100% choose Little Bears again if I needed a nursery.

Our little girl has been going to Little Bear's in Elephant Central for nearly a year now and is absolutely loving it. She has so much fun, both with the kids and staff. Her development has been nourished amazingly at Little Bear's through many games and activities. She has so much fun going that she
often mentions all her friends' names including the staff on the weekends. In the morning she is often collecting her shoes and jacket impatiently to go back to nursery, which I think is the biggest testament to all the great work Little Bear's is doing. We, as parents, have great interactions with the staff, who often ask about our daughter's current interests and life events outside of nursery to connect with her on a deeper level. I found choosing a nursery for our daughter to attend daunting but I am so happy that we picked Little Bear's.

Our child started at this nursery in August and has settled in really well. Little Bear's was the first and only nursery my husband and I visited before choosing as we were so impressed. Firstly they were prompt in responding to the request for a tour and accommodating when we needed to change the date
at short notice. The facilities are great with outdoor space to play, healthy meals, lots of wooden toys and various activities. Nappies, meals and nappy cream are inclusive. My child took to the staff straight away and the other children in the nursery were also friendly. Her settling period of over two weeks went smoothly and confirmed our positive first impressions.
Two months on and we have no regrets in choosing Little Bear's and although my child can't speak yet I'm pretty sure she feels the same.

My son was at Little Bears in East Village from the age of around 10 months to just under 4 years of age. He has always been happy there and I have felt that he was in safe and caring hands. He made some lovely friends there and enjoyed the large outdoor play area. There were some changes in management
and changes in staff which was unsettling for a while, but over recent months things have stabilised and I feel there is a caring, competent and empathic team in place.
