Our son started at Brown Bears just after he turned 1. Communication with one member of staff in particular was excellent and she quickly responded to any query I had. The staff were very kind in helping to settle my son in and you are kept updated in an app on what they are eating/sleep patterns etc.
The premises are clean and tidy and there seems to be a good range of activities for the children, who are happy and contented. Overall a friendly and welcoming nursery, that I would recommend.

I can't start to let you know how much I loved it at Brown Bears Nursery. The team and children are so diverse and very cultured. They make me feel like family and any questions or struggles I had, as a single mom, they would help me with. I love the different, cultural food, celebrations and events
that they would have, to make everyone feel welcome and appreciated. Brown Bears Nursery will forever be a part of my child's and my memories and lives. I've built relationships that are still standing strong with many of the team and other families as well.
Thank you all so much.

I've had two children attend Brown Bears Nursery. My last child is about to leave to go to school. Both children have attended Brown Bears since babies. The care and love that my children have received at nursery has been amazing! The staff at the nursery are so loving and have allowed both my children
to flourish and have prepared them for school. I am due to have another baby this September and my baby will also be attending Brown Bears next year.

My daughter has been at Brown Bears for a year and thoroughly enjoys her time there. She is always happy to walk through the door and the staff are extremely friendly and supportive. The progress she has made and her love for learning has been great. We really value the level of communication and the
approachability of staff. Keep up the good work!

Brown Bears Nursery is an outstanding nursery with staff that take their time to care and nurture your child. Friendly and very informative aswell as compassionate towards each individual child’s needs. My child has excelled since attending the nursery.

The manager is blunt, no partnership with parents. If you are a new mum and this is your first experience at this setting it will not be the best. I was told I would not be informed of activities as this isn't done every day. My son came home in his sister's shoes which were clearly too small for him.
Concerns were told to the manager and staff as there was only one member of staff with 9 children in the room alone - ratio (is 1/4) and that was followed by the deputy saying “When did she start working here?”. Then the manager follows up by stating they have a lone working policy. They were still over ratio and that is a safeguarding issue. My children were removed and when I called to let the manager know what had made me uncomfortable her response was ok. If I could give no stars I would. These are my children, my whole heart and the lack of care, attention, compassion, and no person to comfort them (no keyworker). Is just heartbreaking.

We have a fantastic nursery that has been operating for over 10 years and this is a review from a parent whose children had only been in our setting for a total of 9 hours - 2 settling in sessions totalling 4 hours and 5 hours without their parent. We pride ourselves in the parent partnership by having an open-door policy, informing parents of what goes on the nursery before they start and termly meetings. We use an app as a way for parents to have an insight of the care that children have on a daily basis. As stated in the EYFS (2024) is it not a requirement for staff to do as many observations on activities as there used to be as we are focusing more on the interaction between staff and children. When parents start, we ask that parents fill out an All About Me and provide as much information about their children as possible and parents are invited into the room in which their children are settling into across 3 days and provide staff with more information about their child/ren. We ask that parents label their child/ren clothing and shoes especially if they are twins and wear identical shoes/clothing. We always work within ratio or over ratio, we also have a lone working policy for when staff would have to leave the room for a brief period time such as nappy changes, collecting resources and toilet breaks. Each room has CCTV cameras as well as cameras in both of our gardens. Children who attend Brown Bears Nursery are loved unconditionally and always comforted especially when they are upset. Ratio as of September 2023 is 1:5 not 1:4 for 2–3-year-olds. We have a robust Safeguarding policy which we adhere to and is emailed to all parents at application stage as well as having access to it in the office. We have a fantastic diverse menu which is changed twice year depending on the season. We have also invested heavily in our ICT equipment by investing in a £5000 large interactive board which both children and parents adore. Key persons are assigned to children once they have established a strong bond with a member of staff which does not happen during their settling period, as this would more than likely be their first experience being away from their parents. Please note that at Brown Bears Nursery we do not tolerate any form of abuse from parents to any member of staff, especially those that have been in the setting for a total of only 9 hours!

We couldn’t be more happier with Brown Bears Nursery - Green Lanes. The genuine care and nurturing they give our girls is incredible. Since enrolling our youngest daughter we have seen her skills, understanding and behaviour improve significantly and our older daughter (a former student) is always complimented
on her manners and intelligence which we wholeheartedly believe is due to the help we have had from the Brown Bears team in her early development.

My son has attended Brown Bears since he was 11 months old. He's nearly 3 years old now and very happy there. It has a warm feel, the staff really care about the children and know all of them. The managers are lovely. They have high standards but are friendly and approachable. I'm impressed by the range
of fun educational activities he gets up to like yoga, arts and crafts, even learning phonics in a fun way. His key workers have given me great feedback about his development and have encouraged him to learn skills like putting on his coat himself. There are two gardens, they're small but this is to be expected in London and my son enjoys the equipment. The food is good and the nursery is really clean and well-presented. I'm extremely grateful as the fees are also reasonable compared to other nurseries in the area.

We love Brown Bears and recommend it highly. Our child has been there for 2.5 years and we have been happy throughout. Other parents we speak to, share these views and have the highest praise for the nursery. Children identify strongly with staff and are nurtured and developed outstandingly. The nursery
is reliable, but also very flexible.

Our toddler has been attending Brown Bears for the past two months. We have been really happy so far, the staff are caring and clearly enjoy their jobs. Our child has quickly developed a relationship with her key worker and is comforted by her. The baby room is large, but there are not many babies in
there so there's plenty of space for them to toddle about. The food seems to be varied and the babies all sit and eat together around a table. Communication is via an app and email and that works well. The outside space is small, but there are trips out to the local parks etc. Would recommend Brown Bears, seems to be more value for money than other local nurseries.

Our son has been attending Brown Bears for over a year now and has transitioned from baby to toddler room. The is amazing, really warm and welcoming, you can feel her passion for the kids and ensuring Brown Bears is a comfortable, secure, fun, diverse and happy place for all. From day one the staff
have been exceptional, friendly and accommodating and have doted on our son, whilst also teaching him essential social skills and boundaries - this has been really crucial to his development as a toddler. He squeals excitedly when we arrive most mornings, eager to learn and play with his friends. It's such a relief for us as we know that he is happy every day, especially now he is a little older, he can talk about what he is learning, who he has played with etc. and we can view his activities live in action via the Tapestry system. For us, Brown Bear offers a 10/10 service! Thank you to the manager and the team for your daily devotion to our son, and all of the children.
