Smithfield House Children’s Nursery is an independent nursery which is owner/manager run. Being independent allows the nursery to tailor their childcare services around the needs and works commitments of the families who access their services.

Each learning environment is spacious, welcoming and provides an exciting curriculum where the children learn about their immediate world and things that are meaningful to them, thus allowing the children to build on prior learning, challenge what they already know and to become enthusiastic to learn more. The nursery has a very experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) that ensures all children in its care are supported.

Staff allow the children the time to become immersed in what they are doing, providing suggestions of what they could do or add, without taking over what the child's own imagination is creating. Children learn about the city they live in, visiting local libraries, museums and the local parks. Every day brings a new learning experience as they explore the city with its ever-changing landscape. They learn how people move around the city and take their own short trips on the tube, the bus and the river clippers. When the children return from their daily walks, they are excited to talk about what they have seen or done and to share their experiences with their peers.

The nursery participates in the new Government Funding Initiative. Funded places are available; however, these are limited. The nursery will endeavour to meet the needs of each funded request regarding days and hours requested.

We have sent our daughter to Smithfield since she was 3 months old, starting in January 2024. She has progressed from part-time initially to full-time, and from one of the smallest babies to one of the bigger ones in the room! One of the reasons we chose the Smithfield initially was because of the different
rooms that they have, with a dedicated sleep room for the babies. Overall, we have been absolutely delighted with her care at Smithfield. She is so happy to go and play every day, and we have every confidence that she will be well taken care of and stimulated. The range of activities they do is amazing, and we love getting the updates and photos via the app. We are moving her only because we moved house and the commute is too much for her, but we are so sad to be leaving. We really cannot speak highly enough of the team and nursery, and would recommend them without reservation. We'll miss you!

Our son has gone to the nursery two days a week for the last 8 months in preparation for starting the reception class at his school. Three particular members of staff and the rest of the team made us completely welcome and feel like part of an extended family, despite our son only attending part-time.
It's an extremely professional, highly welcoming nursery. Our son always looked forward to his days there. We were entirely happy with the care and range of activities and food provided, and we appreciated the daily feedback we received about his behaviour and development.
There were also several occasions when our son's nanny was on holiday or ill, and we asked the nursery for additional days at short notice. We were very impressed by their flexibility in trying to accommodate us, which they were able to do on the vast majority of days when we asked for additional help.
Overall, this is a fantastic nursery, centrally located and staffed by real professionals who our son loved spending time with.

Our daughter attended Smithfield House Children’s Nursery for 6 months, until we moved out of London in March 2024. She settled in quickly, formed strong bonds with the staff and always started the day with a smile on her face. The days were filled with lots of messy play and craft activities. We had
regular updates and EYFS assessments or observations from which it was clear how much the staff cared about her. We always felt entirely confident leaving her there and were very sad that we moved out too far for her to continue at that nursery. The only downside is that they have no outside space, but the children go for outings at the park and around the city a lot which more than makes up for it. I loved that the children had several ‘rooms’ to explore (e.g. the babies have a meal room, 2 main rooms, a sensory room and the sleep room) and that on quieter days children of all ages engaged in activities together.

My little one has been attending Smithfield House Children's Nursery since September. I have to say that after a very bad experience in the previous nursery, I was very sceptical about finding a good nursery for my 3-year-old daughter. This is by far the best nursery ever! All staff have a very caring
nature and are approachable. This nursery is superb and I'm so pleased I chose this environment for my daughter. The staff and management are fantastic and they clearly love their jobs. The attention to detail and love that my daughter receives is so comforting to me that I would have no hesitation in recommending this nursery to friends and family. Childcare, activities and communications with parents are top quality. Thank you so much for making both my child and I so happy and comfortable. I am thrilled with my child's progress. I highly recommend this nursery to parents. My daughter attended, and they helped her become a confident, curious toddler. Every day, she learned something new in their beautiful installations with stimulating toys and engaging activities. The best part is the caring and loving staff. My daughter was

My almost 4-year-old son spent a year at Smithfield House while his parents were studying in London. It is such a wonderful place, with the kindest and most loving staff in every position. He did not speak any English upon arrival but found it very easy to communicate from the first day and learned
a lot of English throughout the year. The food was always good, variety of things to do and a lot of creative playing with colours, shapes, drawings etc. For people working or studying in central London, the location is perfect and the facilities were always clean and up to the highest hygienic standards. Communication with staff was flawless and they took such good care of our son.

We couldn't be happier with our decision to enrol our children at Smithfield House Children's Nursery. From the moment they started attending at the ages of 3.8 and 1.2, our little ones settled in quickly. One aspect that truly sets the nursery apart is the dedication of its staff. The practitioners
go above and beyond to organise interesting and engaging activities for the children on a daily basis, which fosters their skill development and sparks their interests. Our 20-month-old daughter has been attending Smithfield House for a year now, and we could not be more satisfied with the care she’s received. The carers are not only supremely qualified, but every one of them treats our daughter with the same amount of love and attention she is used to at home; it’s
no wonder she is always in such a great mood when we drop her off and pick her up. The environment is always so calm, pleasant and familial, and our daughter’s days are kept so busy and diversified. I 100% recommend it!

My daughter joined the nursery at 15 months have had little interaction with many other babies and adults. She has come on so well in her almost one year there. All the staff are so welcoming and hardworking, and it means a lot to me to know my daughter spends her day around adults who show her and

My daughter loves her time in the nursery. She has fun-filled days and is always excited to attend, and almost doesn't want to leave at the end of each day. The staff are very friendly and caring, and the communication is excellent! I have had the experience of my daughter attending another nursery

Smithfield House Childrens Nursery is our baby's second home. Everyone is so caring and warm, that it feels like he is being taken care of by family. The atmosphere in the nursery is really cosy and nurturing and the staff have so many fun ideas for the baby's activities. The administration is stellar

Our daughter joined the team at eight months old and soon settled in quickly, thanks to the amazing team in the baby room! All of the ladies at the nursery are very attentive. Our daughter loves all of the creative messy plays that the ladies make for them and really enjoys the trips outside to the

Many thanks to the team for the experience. Our daughter settled in, in a couple of days and was quickly requesting to go to school, which didn't happen with the nurseries she attended previously. This is the friendliest nursery either of my children has attended (out of about five over the years!). Staff show a genuine affection for the kids and a real concern for their wellbeing. Our one-year-old had a really fun time there. The price is relatively reasonable given its convenient location in
the heart of the city. I'd definitely recommend it.

My daughter has been at Smithfield House for over 6-months now and loves it! She adores her key workers and all the staff and is really happy here.
The range of activities is comprehensive and fun. It's clearly a very well managed nursery with enthusiasm and attention to detail in childcare coming

I joined Smithfield House Children's Nursery at the beginning of 2022 as I was returning to work after having my son during the pandemic. Being a first-time mum and worrying about the Covid situation, I was obviously very anxious. From my first conversation with the nursery, I was immediately put at
ease. When I visited the nursery, I found the staff to be engaging (although I was not yet an attending parent) and interested not only in my son but in me as a parent. I was shown the whole nursery, and any/all questions that I had were answered immediately. This added to my confidence. I love the app used by the nursery; it is so user friendly, and I love seeing the posts of what my son is doing throughout the day. I know what he has eaten, when he has slept and that I can message his key-worker directly, and they always come back to me in a timely manner. I know my son's emotional needs, as well as his learning needs, are being met, and I am so happy with his progress. Best decision ever!

Why did I register my son at Smithfield House Nursery? Because of their exceptional staff.
I went to visit with my son so I could see whether he would be happy being there every day and he started chatted happily to a member of staff and asked to stay longer to play once the visit is over. And this
doesn’t normally happen so I knew hand on heart that my son will be happy there and that he will be well looked after. Call it a sixth sense or a gut instinct but I knew it will be a great place for him to be.
And I was right, he settled in and was happily sharing what he did during the day even telling me which book he was reading during his time at nursery and he knew the name of his little friends in less than a week. The staff really pay attention to the kids and their individual and collective needs. I had trust and faith in them and they did not disappoint.
I can truly recommend the nursery to any parents looking for a place for their children.
My only regret was that my son didn’t start there sooner.

My son started with Smithfield in February and was, sadly, only there for a month and a half due to the Coronavirus situation. In that short time, however, he thrived and was brilliantly looked after by all staff members. He made a number of friends and I do hope he will be able to see them again
soon. From the initial visit, I knew that this was the place for him to thrive in, with excellent space allocation, resources, and facilities. The staff genuinely cared about his interests and engaged with his love of dinosaurs. Information and communication was impeccable. I speak for both myself and my son's mother when I say I wish we had put him into Smithfield earlier. He will be starting school in September and his short time with Smithfield has given him a good bedrock for his next step. I wish the nursery all the best and hope it moves from strength to strength, it is much deserved for all involved.
