Generally, the nursery is very good indeed and the staff couldn't be more helpful/lovely. Hopefully, with the couple of errors made with our little boy, lessons have been learnt to avoid these happening again in the future. Regarding allergies, the food has been amazing as lunch and tea has been enjoyed
thoroughly!

Our son has attended this day nursery since he was 9 months old, he is now 3 1/2 yrs and always thoroughly enjoys his time here. There's always a good variety of activities to keep him occupied and stimulated. There's a big emphasis on the outdoors and encouraging children in nature activities and our
son loves the forest school trips. We've always found the staff to be incredibly caring and patient and always very supportive in the various stages of our son's development. An excellent childcare environment!

My daughter loves going to the nursery. There's always lots of activities to keep her occupied and help her development. She has a great bond with her key person. It is a great help to us knowing that she is happy and well cared for while we're at work. She also eats really well at nursery, the menu

Little Green Rascals has been an amazing nursery for my two children. I cannot fault the organic ethos, the food, the activities, the outside space, the beautiful indoor space and general things like communications, however, the staff themselves top all of that put together. They genuinely care for
my children and cherish them and they have made nursery into a wonderful, safe and exciting place for them both to be. We will all be very sad when the time comes to leave!

I couldn't be happier with the care my one year old son receives at Little Green Rascals. His induction was well planned and managed. He receives warmth, kindness and happy engagement from every member of staff and his key worker and shadow key workers, are both fantastic - they've taken the time

I first went to look around LGR when I was 6 months pregnant with my first baby, and although I was nervous at the thought of leaving my unborn child with anyone, I remember saying to my mum, "there's nothing about that nursery that I can fault. I can't find anything that would make me not feel confident
to leave my baby in their hands".
Now both my children attend the nursery and have done so since they were 7 months, and I can honestly say that they both love it. They skip in to nursery in the mornings and frequently don't want to leave when I collect them. They are full of praise for the amazing organic, tasty food that they are given each day, and the highest compliment I can receive at home is, "mummy, this is nearly as good as the Chef's"
The forest school is brilliant, and really gives the children something that excites them, in a way that it is not easy to provide at home (my camp fire skills are not quite up to scratch).
The staff at the nursery are all approachable, friendly and full of constant enthusiasm for all the children and their differing needs, emotionally or academically. In addition to supporting my children through their development in these early years, several members of staff have been a huge support to me when I have needed help (such as when I broke my foot and was unable to collect the children from nursery - not only did nursery bring the children home to me, but they even packed me up some dinner for myself as I couldn't stand to cook!)
I would not hesitate to recommend LGR to anyone who is looking for a nursery for their child, and I can't think of a better place for my children to be when I am at work and unable to be at home with them. Having my children at nursery there takes away the working parent guilt that so many people feel.

I have 2 children at Little Green Rascals, they both started at 13 months. They absolutely love going on their "school" days and they do not want to leave.
The practitioners are very welcoming towards the children and their parents. It was the first nursery we went to see when we started looking
around for childcare. It was also the last as we felt so welcome and the children already there where extremely happy.
The outside spaces provided for running around and play are excellent, with the teachers joining in with the imaginative play. Also with extra trips out to the Forest School.
The feedback at the end of the day for each child from their key-worker is lovely as you do not feel like you are missing out on anything and you are also told of all the milestones/key developments your child has reached.
Children are provided with a wide variety of excellent food cooked on site everyday. They do get to try so many different and new things. One less thing for me to think about in the mornings.
Security is fantastic and you do feel that your child is left in very capable, caring safe hands.
Little Green Rascals is a wonderful learn through play environment. It is definitely the best place I could have sent my children. Their self-confidence has blossomed. Thank you to each and every team member!

Brilliant friendly nursery. All staff are always pleasant & genuinely love the children. Brilliant outdoor space & my son loves the regular Forrest & Maze visits. Even the chef is very friendly. Overall a lovely safe place to leave your children.

We initially weren't going to look at LGR because of the distance (which required us to get a second car) from our house but after walking through a few other nurseries I just wanted to see how they would compare with LGR. Well after our tour of the place we sat in the car and we looked at each other
with the same thought- "how are we going to come up with the money for a car because this is the place for him!"
Our son started at LGR in January of 2015 and we could not have asked for a better place for him. He is not great with change and so starting nursery was not easy but we knew the care he would be given would be above and beyond the other nurseries we looked at. From the beginning the staff where very good at dealing with our son and making sure he was settling in. On top of the very qualified carers, LGR comes with an amazing amount of space for the kids to run around in which you don't find in York very easily and it is the only place our son wants to be. And as a bonus, I can wake up in the morning and not have to stress about packing lunch, snacks, dinner etc because they have their own chef on site who cooks the most amazing menu. It's the best thing that has happened to our son - he has truly blossomed by being at LGR and his personality is shining thru now and we can't ever leave the nursery!!!!!

My son has attended LGR since he was 13 months old, but his room change from Cheeky Hens to Little Green Rascals has proved to be his most challenging, and I cannot recommend the staff enough for guiding him every step of his way. He has built an excellent relationship with his keyworker, and we have
been able to work together to settle him in - including my son taking a book in for her to read to him.
The forest school is amazing, and such a wonderful space for children to explore, science is also a favourite activity!
The food is of excellent quality, and there is always something available if they are not to keen on what is being offered.
All staff are friendly, and always make the time to go through your child's day.

My twins (girl/boy) started at Little Green Rascals 09/15, they are so happy that it's difficult to tear them away each day. The staff are 100% committed to the wellbeing and development of the children in all areas - creative/emotional/educational. They totally identify that the children are completely
different and have entirely unique personalities even though they are twins. They value what makes the children happy/sad/learn and so they understand how to get the best from them and help with their pre-school development. With my first child (now 14) I had that slightly guilty feeling when dropping her off with the childcare provider and going to work (which I am sure some mums can relate too) but at Little Green Rascals I don't have that feeling of guilt at all, I drop them off with a sigh happiness and confidence that are just having a fantastic time all round, my only wish is that I had found somewhere like this sooner. The observations that the staff make are so accurate and show that they have a true understanding of what makes each child tick! Well done to all at the nursery that make it such an amazing place for children to be, it's not only the front of house carers but all the staff in the office that make it equally as special, I can honestly say it's worth every penny and the extra activities that are set up for all the family to enjoy are equally as fab and really well thought through. Forest school is also an amazing part of nursery life and my children love it, it has opened up such a whole new world for them to explore and learn from.

My son has attended LGR since April this year. Due to work we have moved around a lot and he has been to four different nurseries from age 6 months. I can safely say that LGR is by far the best setting he has attended. The staff are fantastic, very professional while still maintaining a family like
atmosphere. The range of activities he does are varied and interesting. The forest school is an excellent resource and alongside all the outdoor space makes LGR a hit with my active boy. The food is healthy organic and by all accounts delicious, satisfying my very fussy eater is quite an achievement. I can't praise this nursery enough, we will be very sad to leave when he starts school next September. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this nursery to others and I sing it's praises to all the mummies I meet who ask where he goes.

Both boys thoroughly enjoy nursery and we are very pleased with the level of care they receive. Forest is a massive hit and our eldest would spend every day there if he was allowed! The manager there is obviously very inspirational.

Little Green Rascals Elvington offers a great setting with lots of access to outdoor space. Visits to forest school and the maze are a bonus.
The biggest plus is the food. Cooked on site it always looks lovely and both my girls eat it all (one is a fussy eater).
Most of the staff are really lovely,
especially the lady who is in charge of forest school. The girls really like the staff and they are obviously well cared for while there.
The only (small) issue I have with the nursery is the policy on discipline. No naughty steps/seats here just a "no thank you" which personally I don't think works for persistent biters for example. It would be great if the nursery could work with children on enforcing a consistent discipline for things such a biting/fighting. For me it's not a deal breaker but I would prefer the nursery to support my decision to use naughty step etc. and follow this through at nursery.

My daughter started at Little Green Rascals just after her first birthday. She has struggled with settling in but the staff are fantastic and have taken amazing care of her and even rung me to let me know she has settled in once I had left so that I am not worrying until I pick her up. She loves all
the activities especially exploring outside and helping with the chickens and Guinea pigs. The outside space is excellent and they get to visit the maze to play and see the animals. The food is an excellent standard and they get to try things you possibly wouldn't eat at home.
They also get visits from Tatty Bumpkins so they can participate in yoga etc.
The range of toys and activities they are involved with is invaluable to their learning and my little girl has come on in leaps and bounds since starting at nursery.
The feedback given to parents at the end of the day and at parents evening is fantastic also. I would definitely recommend Little Green Rascals to anyone considering taking their hold there.

Little Green Rascals is a really excellent nursery: I would highly recommend it to other parents. The staff there take particular care to get to know each child: my son has a great bond with his key-worker, but also with other staff in his room, and even staff outside the room seem to know him. There's
a lot of outside space which is well-used, and the nursery benefits from having links to a Forest School and the 'Maize Maze' next door. The food also seems to be excellent, well-prepared, nutritious and inventive - my son eats better than I do!

My 2 boys have attended Little Green Rascals at Elvington since they were 10 months old...my eldest has just waved goodbye to start big school and what a start they have given him!! The staff are truly fantastic at what they do and the nursery itself really is home from home. I leave my sons there and
know that they will have the most amazing day...forest school, yoga, science, art class...the list goes on!! The food is beyond good, it's delicious, and all home cooked...my sons eat food I never thought they would and show a keen interest in cooking.


Leaving your child at nursery is never an easy thing to do but what Little Green Rascals offer makes it so much easier...highly, highly recommend it!!

This is a fantastic nursery with wonderful resources - our son particularly loves all the outdoor space they have! The Elvington Lane site has two wonderful gardens with loads of outdoors activities, and the Forest School is a wonderful part of the nursery. For Forest School, the children are taken
out into some safe woods nearby, where they study nature and outdoor crafts. Our son always comes back buzzing after a Forest School session!


Food is freshly prepared onsite and is a wonderful high standard; we are often jealous of the menus on offer!


The staff are wonderful and look after children attentively and thoughtfully. There is a great gentle ethos at the nursery which involves solving disputes by listening to the children, discussing the problem, and looking for solutions together. Our son loves the staff, and they have been brilliant with him, in particular with his own needs - he suffers from glue ear which affects his hearing, and when it is bad the staff are great at giving him more one-on-one time to help him and make sure he's involved with everything.


The nursery community is lovely, there is great interaction with the parents and regular activities for parents and children to get involved with together. Any issues we have raised have been addressed promptly and respectfully. We are delighted with this nursery and would not hesitate to recommend it.
