The whole staff team at Northcote House Nursery and Bennerley House Pre-Prep are hugely disappointed and upset to read this review. Whilst we believe our time and energy is much better spent focusing on continuing to provide fantastic care and education to our families than in defending persistent public campaigns aimed at undermining this hard work, we feel it is important to correct untruths, particularly those which have arisen from a financial motive.
In the last 18 months, both our Nursery and Pre-Prep, have undergone a complete refurbishment, including being fully re-resourced with bespoke and state of the art equipment. This has totally transformed the learning environments for children across all age groups.
We have introduced a fantastic new curriculum and transition to school programme for our Pre-Prep children and implemented a vast range of extra-curricular activities throughout the nursery. These include but are not limited to: Wake up and shake up, an activity to energise the brain using cross-lateral movements; a cookery station which incorporates many aspects of the curriculum; a range of bespoke activities which promote children’s well-being and confidence, including Emotions Boxes and Chatterboxes; and Garden Champions - our own bespoke extra-curricular gardening activity which is supported by the Royal Horticultural Society’s School Gardening Awards training programme.
We have focused hugely on staff’s training and development, which in combination with the above, means that the range of activities, learning, care and overall standard are excellent.
Working with high quality and ethical suppliers, our nursery chef has implemented a delicious and nutritionally balanced new menu. He uses seasonal and fresh ingredients to prepare meals for the children to enjoy and is a key member of the Nursery’s Cookery Club. He is an advocate for The Soil Association Food for Life Served Here Award and is leading on our Bronze accreditation which we are shortly to receive. This accreditation is an independent endorsement, backed by annual inspections, for food providers. The aim of the scheme is to encourage and reward caterers who: serve fresh food; source environmentally sustainable and ethical food; make healthy eating easy, and champion local food producers.
We, therefore, feel that the ratings of poor and very poor in these areas are grossly unfair and vindictive, and we are saddened that on your 5th attempt to post such a review online, we have not been able to prevent our staff team from reading these comments.

Letters and sounds are part of our daily teaching and focused phonics lessons commence once children move through to our Pre-Prep, Bennerley House. We are so glad that you and your daughter are pleased with the food we provide. We are passionate about providing children with the very best start in life, which is why we provide nutritionally balanced home-cooked meals. Our menus are designed by the nursery chef and a paediatric dietician and are prepared fresh on the premises each day using organic fruit and vegetables.
