Little Angels Highbury is a family run nursery, part of a group of two, based in Highbury Barn, North London. They welcome children from 3 months to 5 years across four rooms and one large covered outside area which has been sectioned off for different age groups. They provide a caring and nurturing approach to learning, which responds to the individual needs of every child. Children are supported at every stage of their learning journey, only transitioning into the next room when they are ready to do so and in consultation with parents.

With over 30 years experience, Little Angels has a proven record of high quality education and care. The ratios are maintained meticulously and older 3 and 4 year old children not only operate within a 1:8 ratio (one adult to eight children) instead of a 1:13, they also have a qualified teacher who is over and above ratio and who designs project based activities for the pre-school children. This teacher works in collaboration with the team to expertly prepare children for a smooth transition into school. Their approach focuses on building skills and dispositions to learning in fun and creative ways, fostering a life-long love of learning.

The nursery is open from 8am until 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, 49 weeks of the year. Rather than planning trips which requires parental participation, Little Angels brings in outside activities such as theatre companies and 'Wild Fangs'. They also have weekly peripatetic teachers who tutor children in French, sports and football, music and drama.

Little Angels provides healthy home-cooked meals, made on the premises by their Chef using fresh ingredients following a rotating three week seasonal menu. Their food is uploaded onto an Instagram page, @littleangelsdaynurseries daily so parents can see what the children have eaten.

The nursery provides nappies, wipes, nappy cream, and swim nappies (for water play) free of charge.

We are so happy with the care Little Angels has been providing since our son started in the baby room a few months ago. The staff genuinely care, are very thorough in sharing their observations at the end of the day, check in with us whenever they have a question during the day and everyone is very
warm, welcoming and calm.
The nursery environment itself is always spotlessly clean and the meals provided to the children are nutritious (we joke that our son eats better than us during the week). There are lots of really creative activities done during the day and our son's key person is absolutely wonderful.
Starting our very young son at nursery was a huge cause of anxiety for us but within a week we felt completely at ease, reassured and comfortable with dropping him off in the mornings. We feel he spends the day in a very nurturing environment and we can tell that his development is really benefitting from being around the other babies and wonderful staff. Thank you, Little Angels!

Our son thrived at Little Angels nursery and we were sad to leave. The staff are all very experienced and it has a lovely friendly family feel. There is a huge outside space and the daily activities are interesting and varied. The preschool teaching is excellent and the overall care is great. They genuinely
love all the children they look after. Can't recommend enough

I can't speak highly enough of Little Angels Highbury and am so pleased that we sent our daughter there. It has a lovely, family feel and all the staff are loving and caring as well as being very good at their job. Our daughter started off naturally quite shy but she formed a very strong bond with her
key workers who encouraged and supported her and helped her gain confidence. The activities they do with the kids are always rich and varied and the level of communication and organisation is fantastic. We feel very fortunate to have found such a great nursery and would recommend it to anyone.

Our two boys were full-time in Little Angels from the age of one and six months, all the way through to the start of school, some seven years in total. Over this time we were highly impressed with the quality of staff, management, systems and processes. The boys were always happy, well looked after
and fed. We were particularly impressed with how the management and staff handled the pandemic, with the nursery remaining open every day that they were allowed. Whilst the location on Blackstock Road is far from perfect, there was enough space inside for them to run around energetically and anyway, this was virtually irrelevant as the staff were always so well trained, organised and lovely with the kids. We cannot recommend Little Angels highly enough! They are more than a safe pair of hands, they became like family and we and the boys miss them already.

Little Angels Highbury is an outstanding nursery. From the baby room to pre-school room we found the staff caring, attentive and professional. Our daughter had a great 4 years at the nursery with lovely key workers at every stage who really got to know her and supported her. The nursery organised brilliant
activities - sports, music, drama, etc and put a lot of thought in the last year into reading, writing and preparing for school. We were very lucky to find such a great nursery. Thoroughly recommendable.

We are very happy and grateful for our son's learning experience that was made possible by the brilliant people all working together as a team. I don't know where they get their energy from but we are very happy that our son had a great time, was supported and encouraged, with regular feedback to us
parents. Lots of engaging class activities including the reptiles and chicks and again, to feel included as parents made it all the more engaging. Would definitely recommend.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.069)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.069) out of 10 for Little Angels Day Nursery & Pre-School Highbury is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Little Angels Day Nursery & Pre-School Highbury is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.069 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Angels Day Nursery & Pre-School Highbury is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 number of registered child places is 14.4. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.4 = 0.069

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
