Both of our children have been attending Brixton LEYF nursery. Our son is still in its pre-school group, whilst our daughter has left the nursery two years ago to start the primary school.
The core staff members are really dedicated and haven't changed over the years. I feel that they have (and are
still) providing a nurturing environment where kids like to go and where they establish strong friendship bonds between themselves. Two years on, and some of our daughter's closest friends are the ones that she met in the nursery.

The staff are great, they all really care about the children. I love the fact that the children get to use the facilities of the leisure centre too, it's a real bonus of the nursery being located there.

Lost for words to describe how incredibly lucky we feel that our son spent over three very happy and formative years at LEYF Brixton, after a brief false start at another popular nursery that didn’t feel 100% right.
He was looked after by an incredible, diverse and talented team and became part of
a wonderful family. His rate of learning and development increased massively through the wide range of fun learning activities and play, tailored to his needs and learning style.
It makes all the difference when people and particularly teachers and carers genuinely love what they are doing, what they are good at, and what gives them purpose. We truly couldn’t have wished for more. It was perfect.
Eternally grateful to Brixton team and so many happy memories, cultivated (good!) behaviours, traditions, high fives, Italian-Spanish fish names (“Pirrania!”) and muscle demonstrations… I know that our son (+mum & dad) will treasure always.

My daughters just left Brixton Nursery to go to school. They've spent over 2-years there, and we couldn't be happier with the teachers, staff and management.
They've been there for my daughters whenever they needed them. Flexible with us when required.
The outdoor space isn't huge, but they have access
to the swimming pool, the soft play a gym studio and often (pre covid) go to the local markets.
A really diverse team and nursery that reflects Brixton perfectly!
Thanks a lot (again)!

Brixton Nubrsey is a really warm and friendly nursery. The staff are brilliant and put so much effort into providing interesting, fun and challenging activities for the children. They have their own chef to prepare meals, and they can use the facilities in the leisure centre, like soft play, which is
great!

Brixton LEYF is the most wonderful nursery. Our children have been there since 2015, and we have been extremely happy. The most recent management team, in particular, have been especially effective, running the place smoothly, communicating brilliantly with parents, constantly focussing on development
for the little ones. Although there is limited outdoor space, the nursery can use the facilities in the leisure centre - the huge soft play, the fitness studio and (for the oldest children) the swimming pool. So when you add that in it means that the lack of outdoor space is less of a problem! There seems to be low staff turnover - or at least the good ones stick around! The long-serving members of staff are just brilliant. Such a loving environment, we trust them completely.

This nursery is amazing. I knew it was the right place for my daughter when I went to look around it as everyone was so open and friendly. She had to settle in pre-lockdown and then recently again, post-lockdown and both times the staff have helped the transition with warmth, love and good humour. I
believe this nursery is a very nurturing place and the staff in the baby room are so lovely and teach her so much. Her physical development and language are coming on very nicely and it's amazing to me every time she does something at home that we haven't taught her. The outside space might be small but they get to use the leisure centre facilities and also take them out a lot to parks and the market. I love this place and I cannot recommend it more highly.

Our daughter, who is now 14 months old, started at Brixton Nursery at the beginning of this year. We visited a lot of nurseries in the local Brixton/Stockwell/Oval/Clapham area and this one was easily our favourite. Even though it doesn't have as much outdoor space as many of the others, this didn't
matter to us because the nursery itself had such a welcoming and professional atmosphere (plus we know that the children are regularly taken out and visit the recreational facilities). The staff are incredible, so friendly and really communicative about everything, from our daughter's activities that day to any issues that have arisen. Our daughter has developed a great deal since starting at the nursery and the staff put a lot of effort into things like sensory development and language skills, and it's clear from feedback and all the photos that are shared that the kids have a lot of fun too. We are really happy with the nursery and so glad we found somewhere we like so much.

My child started this nursery aged 9 months old in October 2018. Thanks to the caring and friendly staff, he settled in immediately. He was reluctant to be weaned, but within weeks the key worker had him on chunky, solid food - I was so impressed. Now he is aged 16 months and loves books, eating using
a fork and recognises many words, thanks to the key worker. He plays outside most days, and he has made many new friends. A lovely nursery to send your baby to.

My granddaughter for more than 1 year participates in this nursery and she is always happy to meet her friends. She enjoys (a lot!) the meals offered and learned countless songs that she always repeats at home. Her development is stimulated by the proposed activities and the staff are very attentive
when I go there.

We are very happy that our Grandchild goes to Brixton Community Nursery. We have seen so much development in him over the years and he is always happy every time we attend family events. As extended family members we are always felt welcomed and involved. All the staff are wonderful and we are just
pleased he is in a happy environment.

Our 6-month-old daughter has only been at Brixton Community Nursery for over a week, but so far I have been impressed by how quickly she has settled in. She always looks happy when I see her and the staff are very caring and friendly. She is eating a good portion of (mashed) solid food at nursery,
as I'm sure it tastes delicious (the daily menu always looks great). I feel absolutely reassured in leaving my daughter at this nursery five days a week.

This nursery may be small but it is perfectly formed! My son loves going there and is very happy to be dropped off every morning (which saves us both from the heartache we have experienced at other nurseries!). The small size of the nursery makes it possible to get to know all of the staff, who are
excellent and work hard to create a fun and happy atmosphere for the children, and it really feels more like an extended family than just a childcare provider. The food prepared by the Chef is of a high standard and welcome variety and certainly seems popular with my son. Access to the great facilities in the Rec is a real bonus for the children, with them frequently being taken to the soft play and the studio for a change of scene, which more than makes up for the admittedly limited outdoor facilities. My son is thriving there, and the credit for that is due to all the staff there who make that possible.

I was so pleased to find my little grand-daughter (who has Down's Syndrome) happy at her nursery and engaged with the people around her. I had been upset at the thought of her having to attend nursery at such a tender age, especially as I live so far north in Scotland and could not help. However,
I stayed with her for over a week at the end of March and could see that her time at nursery had become part of her routine, and something that she looked forward to attending and clearly enjoyed. As I see her only every few months, each visit I make enables me to see what progress she has made developmentally, and I feel sure that much of this is due to the care and attention of the nursery who are working closely with her parents to help her achieve her goals.

My son's been there for almost a year. He loves his nursery and his friends there. He's happy to go in every morning and would run around to give everyone a cuddle before going home. This makes me a very happy mum at work.

We have been very fortunate to leave our child at the Brixton Nursery, always a wonderful welcome from the calm, kind and caring staff. Very professional, warm and helpful, our child loves his time at nursery and has blossomed in the care of the wonderful staff.

I have been very impressed by the staff at this nursery and the attentive and personal care that they offer to my niece, who has special needs, helping her to meet her developmental goals. I know that this has been a huge support to my sister. I feel more than happy leaving my niece at the nursery in
their capable hands in the knowledge that she will be safe and happy there. In fact, my niece seems to really be thriving there. What a special nursery.

My daughter has been attending Brixton Community Nursery for the past 10 months. She has Downs Syndrome and the staff at BCN have been wonderful in engaging with her and structuring her care. She loves her key worker(s) and has come on in (almost literal) leaps and bounds both socially and physically.
This year the staff decorated the nursery for World Downs Syndrome day and engaged everyone, including other parents, in learning about Downs and celebrating my daughter. BCN is a wonderful nursery and community, but rather lacking in facilities and equipment. I would whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone.

We're now using Brixton LEYF for our second child. We couldn't be happier with the support they get, particularly in the early years. A special call out to the Chef, who cooks some truly amazing food.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.184)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.184) out of 10 for Brixton Garden Nursery & Pre-school (formerly Little Angel Nursery School) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.813 for Brixton Garden Nursery & Pre-school (formerly Little Angel Nursery School) is calculated as follows: ( (82 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.813

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.371 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brixton Garden Nursery & Pre-school (formerly Little Angel Nursery School) is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 number of registered child places is 14. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.571

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
