My daughter started this nursery when she was 11 months old and I was very nervous. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and they are wonderful with the kids.
My daughter absolutely loves it she has settled brilliantly and has bonded with the teachers on her classroom. She is learning so much and
is thriving. There is open communication. There is an app that's updated throughout the day on what she has been up to. Pictures and videos of her are also uploaded which is so lovely. When my baby has been unwell it has been managed with professionalism and care. Baby is always clean and dry when I pick her up. They take care of her nappy and has never had any issues with her skin as a result. I could not be happier and so glad I made this decision. The price is also affordable compared to other Nurseries in the area. Thank you matchbox keep up the great work.

We were told to write most of our child’s routine/expression so his key person could understand his actions and when our child expresses himself vocally. They didn’t look at the book, and the response we got was that they are busy taking care of other children. We gave them changing clothes to use,
for example in the event of a nappy accident. We saw that our child had a soiled trouser/bodysuit after nursery pickup. We asked why he wasn’t changed and the response we got was I didn’t change him, I’ll ask around. However, no one claimed they were accountable after another day of asking around. We also noticed the lack of fluidity in changing nappies at the nursery. Whenever we asked for a breakdown of our child’s activities the nursery’s response was very simplistic, we implored them to emphasize but we couldn’t get any more info. This showed either they have too many children per key person that they lose track, or they don’t do many activities towards a child's development.

Thanks for your feedback. The book - contained very detailed information and helped us to get to know your son better. Detailed information continued daily and we always responded in the book or verbally. We admit that the children are our priority and they will always come first. However, as we also value working with parents, staff spoke to you on several occasions causing them to spend an inappropriate time out of the room. Unfortunately, you failed to follow our suggestion to email us with any queries or to speak to a manager who would have had more time. Staff explained that your son's nappy was changed just before your arrival and the bodysuit was not soiled at this time. Daily nappy changes and activities were put in the book or given verbally however informing you of each item he played with was an unrealistic expectation. Your son only attended for five weeks and settled quicker than even you expected. A nursery setting may not be right for you. Photos show him happy.

My daughter went to Matchbox originally and I had no hesitation in sending my son here too, it was a pleasant surprise that nearly 3 years later, there were many of the same staff members and they all remembered my daughter still. Such a lovely well run nursery - all the staff know all the children's
names which gives it a family feel.

The nursury has a large garden which the children can play in throughout the day and a forest school which they can visit.

My niece previously went to this nursery and my nephew currently goes here.
Very lovely nursery, staff are all friendly and very helpful. I only pick up every now and again but they still remember who I am.
They have a lovely big garden where the children spend some of the day and they participate
in forest school which is lovely.
Very homely feel inside the nursery, overall amazing.

Matchbox was the 1st experience of nursery for my son. It was such a pleasant experience, that the new nursery he is in, doesn't reach the standard given by Matchbox.
My son started in Matchbox when he was 11 months. Since the settling week, everything went smooth. The carers, especially the key person
& the manager of the baby section were always very helpful & kind. Babies enjoy going there because the staff are lovely & caring.
It was only 4 months that he went to Matchbox, but it was enough to see his development. His motor & communication skills improved amazingly.
The activities tried to push their curiosity and encouraged them to do things by themselves. I could see from my son's clothes that they were having a lot of fun.
Management was flexible & accessible. Keeping good relations with parents.
I wish we were closer to Matchbox to have our son back there.
Absolutely recommended 100%.
THANKS MATCHBOX! Lovely start of educational live of my son. Gracias!!!!!

My child has been going to Matchbox Day Nursery since s/he was 5 months old. My child loves going and gives his/her key worker a big hug each morning! They host a variety of activities that relate to all the areas of the Early Years curriculum that ensure that s/he is well rounded. These activities
are done through child initiated play so all the little ones are always on the go exploring the environment! The staff that work there are professional, polite and have good relationships with the children and their parents and carers. I feel that the communication between the Nursery and home is excellent. I always know what my little one has been up to and what s/he is enjoying each day! The Nursery was highly recommended to me by friends and I also highly recommend Matchbox Day Nursery!

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.051)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.051) out of 10 for Matchbox Day Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Matchbox Day Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.051 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Matchbox Day Nursery is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 98 number of registered child places is 19.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 19.6 = 0.051

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
