At the nursery the staff create a friendly, homely environment for your child with lots of opportunity to learn through play. They aim to give parents the chance to balance family and work responsibilities with the minimum of tension and the maximum flexibility.

The nursery works within the Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines and are monitored by Ofsted, with whom they are registered.

Their experienced and qualified staff all have enhanced background checks, undertake ongoing professional training and development and are supported through regular supervision. The staff will give your child the highest quality of care throughout the day and will regularly record your child’s progress and development in the online Tapestry system.

They offer your child the opportunity to acquire skills, learn to communicate, gain confidence and of course, to have fun. They present a wide range of activities which promote your child’s development in the 7 EYFS areas: Personal, Social, Emotional Development; Communication and Language; Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World; Physical Development; and Expressive Arts and Design.

These skills will be developed through both adult led and child initiated play which stimulates initiative and imagination. It is so rewarding for the nursery to see many children, who come to them as babies, develop into happy confident children.

The team find the social skills that children acquire while mixing with other children from an early age, in a nursery environment, facilitate a smooth transition into full-time education. When your child begins their settling period you will be allocated a key person, this person will work closely with you to ensure that your child’s transition into nursery is smooth as possible.

Our twin daughters have loved every moment of their time at Wetherell Nursery. The staff have been kind, patient and nurturing and this has allowed them to grow in confidence.

They've learnt so much at Wetherell, become increasingly confident and made so many lovely friends. The setting so close

to Victoria park is a bonus and I'd have no hesitation in recommending the nursery to anyone.

Wetherell first looked after our son and then, 3 years later, our daughter. They each gained confidence over the time they were there and also loved the outside space. The staff have been great, too. Not only with our children but also in helping us with the government funding that, without their help,
we would have certainly not received. Thank you!

We were initially attracted to Wetherell due to its position next to Victoria Park rather than a busy road in East London. Our child has now been at the nursery for 18 months + and we have been very impressed by the staff, who have been generally consistent and show interest in the children and their
families and seem to have endless energy to engage with the children. The venue, like some other nurseries, is pretty dated but it has all the facilities needed and a lovely, large outdoor play area immediately by the park. Occasionally staff even take children on trips around the park! The fee is reasonable compared to other nurseries we have seen and it stays open most of the year, which is great as we both work. We are very happy to have our child at Wetherell and, given she often does not like to leave at the end of the day, it is safe to say she is also happy there.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.143)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.143) out of 10 for Wetherell Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.875 for Wetherell Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (21 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.875

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.268 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wetherell Nursery is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 number of registered child places is 14. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.143

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I'm the Team Manager for Bow & Wetherell Nursery
I started in Wetherell Nursery in April 2008, I started off as a Senior practitioner and worked my way up and now I’m Team Manager.

I have worked in the early years for more than 20 years and knowing that I have supported a child/family gives me great pleasure. The biggest satisfaction for me is knowing that I have been part of a child’s early years, contributed towards their learning & development which leads to building a good foundation and better outcomes for the future.

In my free time, I enjoy travelling, spending time with my family & friends and cooking.

Hi, I'm Chelsea and I'm the admin assistant working between Wetherell Nursery and our sister nursery in Bromley-by-Bow. When you enter the building you'll usually find me tapping away on my computer in the office greeting you and your child as you come in for an exciting day!

When I'm not working hard in the office, it's likely that you'll see me floating around the nursery taking part in lots of activities, chatting with the preschool children or making music with the babies!

I love working in such a busy environment not knowing what each day will bring. The children bring such joy to my day and it is a pleasure seeing them.
