Brinds Well Day Nursery in Orpington provides children with a warm and welcoming learning environment where highly trained practitioners promote child-led interests and play.

The fantastic, fully equipped, large garden area offers children a range of outdoor learning experiences and is used in all weathers and seasons. This helps to support children's social, emotional and physical development.

For extra-curricular activities, they currently offer Pro-stars every Wednesday for preschool children. Additionally, every Friday, Caterpillars, Ladybirds, and Bumblebees enjoy Mandarin singing sessions, led by a dedicated music teacher. He customises each session to align with the children’s current interests.

They are located close to the train station, open 7.30-6.30 and are fully-inclusive offering a convenient service to parents.

We couldn't have been more pleased with the care and time that was spent educating, caring and preparing our daughter for school. The staff in all rooms are of the highest standard! Our daughter loved attending each and every day! I couldn't recommend them enough!

My son attended Brindswell nursery from when he was 10-months-old. The journey from the babies room to pre-school has gone so quickly, and looking back at the last 3+ years; it’s been great.
Right from the building and facilities, to the food, the care and the outstanding staff - everything at Brindswell
has been outstanding.
I’d definitely recommend Brindswell nursery to parents and carers.

The nursery has been a critical part of our family life for the last 6-years - both our sons happily attended the nursery from very young ages going through caterpillar, ladybird, bumblebee to preschool rooms. We have been impressed with how the nursery has grown in strength over the years - it sets
a high bar for friendly staff, personal attention, good communication, consistent quality care and a great management team. At one point, we briefly tried another smaller setting near the station for one day of the week and realized how spoilt we had been with the professionalism at Brinds Well. During the lockdown, the staff worked hard to use their tech platform and send frequent videos to children. For us, working parents, this became a useful resource to home school our little ones. There really isn't another nursery in the area which can match the standard and extended hours of care. Highly recommend it - worth the money and the daily drive into the village (crossing a busy road)!

Excellent nursery in all aspects. Teachers are very friendly and caring. Management very accommodating with parent requests, and all staff are polite and approachable. I would highly recommend this nursery.

I can only praise the nursery for the wonderful way they looked after my son. My son developed and grew with confidence while he was there. The staff were great and brilliant during the Covid19 lockdown. Great nursery, great staff, highly recommended.

My daughter (two and a half years old) is completing her first month at Brinds Well Day Nursery. The staff had a very well thought out and very effective settling in process that took into consideration both the impact on my daughter and the impact on me. We started settling in two months before her
start in September and already my daughter has a big smile for the staff at drop-off and has developed a great bond with her key person and the other staff in the room. I'm impressed with the variety of fun and educational activities that they arrange for the children. The staff regularly share photos and observations so I can see her participating and enjoying herself. When I pick my daughter up in the afternoon she is energised and happy and very excited to tell me about everything she has done that day. It is clear that the staff are kind and patient with her and that they care about her well-being and her development. Brinds Well was definitely the right choice for us.

Brindswell is a wonderful, nurturing and happy environment for little ones as they experience their first formative periods of time outside the family home.
Our son absolutely loved his time here and it is with a heavy heart that he is leaving for his new school.
All the staff at Brindswell are
attentive, caring and make both child and parent’s experience a very personal one. Meals are nutritious and varied, and on collecting our son we were always told exactly what he had eaten that day, times of his afternoon nap and any other information that would be of interest. There is a weekly newsletter for parents which tells us what the children have been learning about this week and encouraging us to continue this at home which is lovely!
The building and location is also wonderful as it has been completely purpose-built, in a rural location, and with a huge car park making drop off and collections a pleasure.
We have no hesitation in giving Brindswell our wholehearted recommendation!

Our son has attended since October (at 8-months-old) and has thrived there ever since. The caterpillars team were brilliant at settling him in, tailoring their approach to his own needs - not a one size fits all approach but taking the time to do what was right for him personally, to ensure he had sufficient
naps, ate properly and was stimulated with activities he enjoyed. We have been continually amazed at the new skills he has picked up each week. The team clearly care about him and his development, and in return, he would run from our arms to hug the team members each morning.
The nursery continued to excel during lockdown - multiple activities and video clips sent each day via the app and regular email updates to parents, as well as taking the time over the phone to explain the measures they were taking for re-opening. Since re-opening, they have gone above and beyond to ensure safety of the children is paramount, in addition to keeping up their fantastic, caring approach.

The best your child can get, besides your own home.
Brinds Well has been nothing but exceptional in the care, development and overall experience for children. Children are always happy and are joyous when we pick them in the evening.
The staff is friendly, attentive and feels like an extension of
our own home. They went out of their way to keep children engaged with videos and daily activities during lockdown. The return to nursery post-lockdown was managed exceptionally well and communication was top notch.
Overall, very pleased and happy with the services on offer.

The nursery has been brilliant for daughter. She has made great friends and always has really positive things to say about all the things she has done at the end of each day. The staff are excellent. They show that they really care for the children, and keep my daughter stimulated with fun and interesting
activities. She has learnt so much about how to do things, the world, and how to interact with other people. They have also been very proactive with respect to the coronavirus pandemic, always staying ahead of my questions when it came to sharing information with parents.

Brinds Well is an amazing nursery.
Recently due to Covid-19 lockdown, the children have not been able to attend but the nursery has continued to keep in regular contact with us and regularly provided learning materials on their secure portal which we found extremely helpful. The staff at the nursery
also checked up on my son’s progress on the telephone which was a lovely gesture.
Brinds Well has certainly exceeded my expectations in these testing times and I would not hesitate in sending all my children there (as and when I have more).

It is a lovely friendly environment among the children and staff. The children seem happy and the staff have lots of energy and enthusiasm while looking after the children. There seems to be the right balance between fun, learning and discipline - ie. the children, parents and staff all seem to thrive.
I
have been particularly struck with how close friends my child has made at a young age.
The food for the children is nutritious, modern and varied, the children benefit from lots of time outside with various activities - building block, mud kitchens and other messy play inside. The different themes each week help the children learn and they do seem to get very excited by them. I really enjoy hearing what they have been up to at the end of each day - even if sometimes it makes me jealous as it sounds like a lot of fun.
As an aside, the nursery has been amazing through the Coronavirus situation - they have kept the friendly atmosphere while adhering to guidelines.

Staff at the Brinds Well Day Nursery are fantastic and the nursery is well equipped for Covid to put me as a parent at ease. Great and varied activities, lots of outdoor play with covered areas, and mix of creative learning activities for numbers and phonics to get school ready for my daughter. She
could not wait to get back to Nursery after the lockdown and no settling expecting for my youngest going in next soon.

Even though my son has not attended nursery since lockdown began, I'm extremely impressed with the amount of communication via the nursery app, videos, activities to try at home, songs and stories and even food ideas from the lady in the kitchen. Great for keeping that connection. I really appreciated
the call from one of the team in my son's group to check we were all well. Another huge positive in all of this was not being charged while my son was not attending. I've heard of numerous nurseries still charging 25-30% even though they were closed. A huge help and relief. We look forward to returning very soon.

I have been very happy with the nursery my daughter attends. She is now 18 months, has been there since September 2019 and attends full time as both her mother and I have fulltime jobs. She always comes home with a big smile and it is great to see her bonding with all the staff and other children. She
is starting to learn people's names, starting to count and form sentences. The nursery staff are all very bubbly and easy to get along with, and best of all are flexible to your requests and needs.
I am very grateful for the attention and care they have provided her and it's amazing to see how she is developing every day now. Thank you.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough. The staff are fantastic in leading new and fun educational activities for the children every day. Our son is always happy when we drop him off and when we pick him up. The nursery is excellent at communicating with us, always taking their time when handing him
over and giving us details as to what he did that day. The food they offer is really healthy. And we particularly love the support they offer in terms of leaving recipe cards in reception and reading books/toys the children can borrow. The nursery facilities inside and outside are excellent. And it's fantastic to see all staff encourage the little ones to be independent whilst having fun at the same time.

Management has always very responsive to any questions/concerns - both via email and in person.
Most of the staff in the rooms that my children are in are very friendly and work well together to ensure the engagement of all the children.

Vanessa Watkins

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Vanessa is the Manager of Brinds Well Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 11 years.


She has numerous qualifications, including Level 2 and 3 in Childcare, Leadership Level 5 Leadership for Children and Young People’s Workforce and First Aid training.


Vanessa is also the designated safeguarding lead for the nursery and is fully trained in Level 2 Makaton signing.


She has worked for Childbase Partnership for 8 years.


What is your favourite feature of your nursery?
The outdoor space; we are very lucky that each room has its own garden and outdoor area. Each garden is unique and really supports children's learning experiences.


Outdoor learning is shown to inspire our children and help them connect with nature. We are lucky with our surroundings, it is very calm and quiet and we hear lots of different birds tweeting throughout the day.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
The passion, commitment and knowledge they give on a daily basis. They give 110% all day, every day and the care they provide to their children and families is outstanding. Every child is unique but the key person will know each individual child fully. They will support their development and well-being through their amazing relationships. During COVID this did not stop, with the home learning we gave to our families from daily videos of our practitioners reading a story to singing and phonic lessons. Practitioners sent activity ideas to support the families at home, whilst my chef was doing cooking lessons once a week with the children virtually. The care, love and support do not stop here at Brinds Well.
