Our son joined 'Woodpecker' in Dicky Birds Day Nursery (Dundonald) after we decided to change his nursery. We believe we made the right decision. The nursery is smaller compared to other Dicky Bird Day Nurseries. This is what we like as it is easy to communicate with the staff and managers there. Low
staff turnover also gives children a stable mental environment. Our son enjoyed every day there and never cried or refused to go to nursery. He enjoyed all the activities: show and tell, weekly sports lessons and especially the forest school away from the nursery. We wish we had sent him to this nursery earlier. We would like to say thank you to the management and all the staff who looked after him. To one of the main carers "You are such a good friend" as our little one said. We would like to especially thank my son's main carer for looking after him, sorting out his potty training and eating issues almost immediately which had been our headache for years. We wish you all the best in the future.

Both my children attended Dicky Birds Dundonald Road Nursery at the age of 9 months. We love the staff and manager at the nursery. They are engaging and really care about the children and it's a great environment for the children to spend their days playing and learning. We feel very safe having our
kids there and feel that they've been looked after well. The food is varied and nutritious and has greatly helped shape our kids into non-fussy eaters. The garden is a lovely space and there are frequent outings to the lovely parks and outdoor space next to the nursery. The staff are motivated to provide the best learning-through-play in each of the age group rooms. Our kids loved going to nursery and we will miss all the lovely staff and managers there. The staff at the nursery are really good with the children, warm, welcoming and very engaging. The management team is very involved and up to date about what's happening with each child. The children have a lot of variety in their activities and we often get very cute and thoughtful art pieces to take
home. Some thoughts for further improvement: It would be helpful to get more details about meals eaten (type of food, drinks etc). Some younger children in the senior room don't take part in every activity. It would be lovely to see everyone involved in all activities. Newly toilet trained children would benefit from more information at handover about what they attempted and achieved each day. Children also need extra help with toilet use until they are more comfortable with it. If big decisions are being made about a child's comforter, it would be useful to agree that in advance with the parents, to avoid upset. It would be good to use washable paint, to keep clothes clean.

Our two kids both went to this nursery, their happy faces are the best endorsement of the quality care they received. The staff is very attentive and caring. We are delighted to see how our kids are prepared for the next school.

I’ve had both my kids at Dicky Birds, so they are like family. The staff are attentive, and the kids thrive in the environment. Kids love/d going to nursery, and they seem to just have so much fun! From a learning perspective, they follow the standard curriculum, so no complaints there.

We just moved and we heard a lot of good things about the nursery from parents and neighbours and decided to send my son to this nursery. I love that they have very flexible and long settling sessions which is just perfect for my son’s personality. Carers are extremely caring.

I think it's a testament to how lovely the staff at the nursery is when my daughter is happy to go into the nursery despite otherwise being very clingy to me. The staff (especially her key person) is enthusiastic and caring, and I appreciate that the staff accommodate our request to manage her eczema
while at nursery. The kids have plenty of activities indoors and in their garden, and also occasionally take the kids (under 2 group) out to the park across the road. I also love that most of the time when I drop my child to nursery there is singing and reading going on. I also enjoy the daily verbal updates during pick up and end of the week photo updates. I initially thought the sleeping room was quite small and was worried that my daughter wouldn't nap well, however, was pleased to find out that she is able to nap for hours so am happy it's no longer a concern. I would definitely recommend this nursery! Thank you.

From nearly a year ago when we started the settling in process for our shy baby, to now watching her happily playing when we come to collect her each day, the staff have always been so positive and supportive. We look forward to hearing all the different songs she learns there when she comes home, and
it's great to see photos and descriptions online of what she's been up to - my only negative would be that we'd always like to see more photos and videos of her day, but that's more a reflection of us as parents than the nursery!

The woodpecker's team have great energy and warmth that makes it feel like a family whenever we have touchpoints as parents.
Our child always seems to be having fun with lots of creative activity and never has a bad day or a day when they don't want to go. Our child also has a close bond with her
key person which is important.
The management team there are also very supportive and have great communication with the parents.
Fabulous team all round.

Dicky Birds Nursery Dundonald Road is a wonderful nursery and I would highly recommend it. My son loved going there and all the staff we’re very friendly and caring, the manager is so warm and the teacher in the Puffins room is fantastic and great at teaching and interacting with the children. My son
attended since he was a baby and the only reason we left was to move to another area, but we were so sad to leave! Food was great and healthy and being next to the park as well as having a good and entertaining garden were real positives.

Our son has been at Dicky Birds since he was 12 months old and has thrived at the nursery. The staff are all very welcoming and caring and give the children the support they need to develop. They offer a well-rounded experience, with a good mix of different activities. The team and management are also
