AN OUTSTANDING AND WELCOMING NURSERY IN WHETSONE

Whetstone Day Nursery and Preschool is a well-resourced and purpose-built nursery carefully designed to support your child’s education and development, from 3 months to 5 years.
The nursery offers children a warm, cosy environment where each age-appropriate room has play and learning resources to engage the natural curiosity of your child. They have a glass wall that separates the two-to-three year old room from the preschooler room. This helps to prepare the children for smooth transitions into preschool. There is a lot of natural light in both under twos rooms, and the baby room has a relaxing, homely feel.
The atmosphere is one of fun and active play and the staff use the children’s interests to plan stimulating activities, challenging their growing independence, confidence and understanding. Children especially love the roof top terrace garden where they can enjoy the sand and water trays.
The team at Whetstone nursery supports all aspects of learning and development prioritised by the EYFS and they follow their own unique Growing Enhancements programme for preschoolers. This includes Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians, alongside Growing Artists, Growing Scientists and Creative Cooks. The enriching activities are designed to encourage your child’s natural curiosity to learn and inspire their interest in food and art, helping to lay the foundations for future academic and creative achievements and giving the perfect prelude to school.

After joining this nursery in January 2024, I have been so impressed by absolutely everyone who works here. I feel very pleased with my decision to send my daughter here and will continue to do so!
The nursery is always a clean and exciting environment for the children. Staff members really put effort
and care into the children every single day and always have something fun planned for the children to do.
My daughter has excelled so much since attending this nursery!

Outstanding nursery with a lovely and welcoming staff who cares about children's wellbeing, development and education whilst providing warmth and joy. My son has been blossoming since joining the nursery and has made many friends. Creativity & Curiosity are at the centre of his days which is so empowering
at this early age.

My daughter has been there since 3 months old and now almost 3 years old. They have been fantastic at every one of her development stages. All the staff are very caring and every adult knows every child personally. It’s like a big family. I would recommend highly!

Our eldest child has been attending Bright Horizons Whetstone since Nov 2021, and our youngest started in June 2023. It’s been a great experience both times. The staff are super attentive, and go the extra mile to get your little one settled in. They are always so friendly, enthusiastic and always ready
to answer questions from an anxious Mummy! I couldn’t recommend this nursery more!

Couldn’t be happy with the nursery.
I was a bit worried about the transition from our childminder, but it went so well.
The team is just amazing and my kid loves it there!
The working hours are perfect for the working parent's schedule as well.

Both our children are at the Whetstone Nursery. They are there full-time, so spend about 40 hours a week at the nursery. They absolutely love going every day. They are excited about all the activities they are doing and playing with their friends. We find the staff phenomenal; very caring and always
with an eye on the personal development of our children. We also find them very flexible; so feels like a true partnership. Anyone who asks, I only ever highly recommend the nursery.

My son started here in September when he was 14 months old. I can't stress enough how caring all the staff are. They helped him settle in really well. He loves it here now and I can see many positive developments in him as a child. The environment encourages learning and play and the food is really

My daughter has been going here for over a year now and we are all very happy with the nursery. The staff are all lovely and always ready to lend a hand in the mornings where she might be feeling reluctant to say goodbye. Our baby started nursery a couple of months ago at eight months old. We had a lot of worries about our baby starting nursery so little. The staff have been amazing since day one. Our baby is well looked after by kind and caring staff and has settled in well. Our baby is so happy and thriving at the
nursery. She does a lot of structured activities and seems to enjoy them. This is evidenced by video clips and pictures uploaded on the app by the staff frequently. Overall, we are happy to have chosen this nursery for our baby.

My daughter attends Bright Horizons. She and I love it! The teachers are great and very helpful. The lesson plans and curriculum are encouraging and promising. The atmosphere is well thought out and just a beautiful place for children to grow/develop. Within my daughter's first week of attending, she
already came home with new skills! I would highly recommend this facility to anyone in search of quality early childhood education for their children or grandchildren. After all, children are our future.

Bright Horizons, Whetstone, has been so supportive to our child and family as a whole. Our son loves his nursery and as first-time parents, the staff have supported us through the development of our son, such as sleeping habits etc. When he is in nursery, both his father and I, are at peace at work,
as we truly believe that he is in good hands and well looked after. We love the staff.

My 2-year-old has been attending Bright Horizons, Whetstone for over one year now. I am really pleased with how he has settled and the progress he has made. He absolutely loves his key worker, who he says is his best friend. Will be sad when he moves to another room.

Practitioners are passionate about their jobs and are a good mix of kind yet firm. Our two went from August to December when the East Barnet branch closed temporarily and both were made to feel welcome and were happy there, especially my youngest. The manager and deputy manager are friendly, professional,
and efficient which helped the transition run smoothly. Only criticism (because we were spoilt before) is the lack of outdoor green space, but children did enjoy going to the roof garden.

My daughter has joined this nursery last year and ever since has been an amazing journey. She keeps coming home happy and joyful and always talks about her teachers and fellow kids at the nursery. I can tell that she is pleased to be there and this makes me feel relaxed and comfortable, knowing that

Bright Horizons Whetstone has looked after both our boys. The younger one is currently still there. The nursery has the most friendly and loving staff. Our children bonded with them very strongly and loved every minute of their time there at the nursery. Our older one is now in reception year but still
talks about his nursery time very fondly and often recalls things he’s told by various staff. The whole place is warm and welcoming for kids and parents alike. It is a superb place for children and you know they will be well looked after and happy there.

Amazing staff members. My little one needed some extra help with speech and communication and the nursery arranged for one to one sessions regularly. They set up a plan and followed it through. I got more help from them than the publicly funded healthcare system.

Our daughter goes into nursery happy and this is the most important factor for us. It has been difficult to question how much or what is going on during the day. We have got two or three updates on the app over the last six months. It is a shame that Kangaroo Kids and the music teacher were cancelled
as the kids loved these. The rooftop is very small but could be used better, there used to be a slide which broke but hasn't been replaced in over a year. Feedback on the daily forms is generic. Turnover of staff seems high and your children need consistency of care givers to feel safe.

My daughter has thrived since attending Bright Horizons Whetstone Day Nursery and Preschool. Despite being brought-up as a 'lockdown baby' and not seeing many people outside of our home for most of her life, our daughter has thrived at Bright Horizons Whetstone Day Nursery. Even with the challenges
of parents being unable to access the building during Covid-19, the kids all seem very settled and the staff have been fantastic. A great place for your children to thrive.

From a very young age, Nicole has always been passionate about childcare. She has been working in Early Years since 2008, starting her career as a student nursery assistant before becoming a nursery assistant.

Nicole qualified as a Level 3 Nursery Practitioner at Bright Horizons Southgate, where she spent one year as a Nursery Nurse, five years as a Room Leader, and two years as the Third in Charge. This experience led her to take the position of Deputy Manager at the beautiful Bright Horizons Whetstone Nursery in 2020.
