Little Tots Nursery Reading is a full-time private Montessori Day Nursery and has been running for over 16 years. It is located near the Central Reading area and has an excellent reputation for providing the highest quality of care and education for children aged from 2 to 5 years.

What makes them different?

Little Tots Nurseries offer the best foundation for life, the Montessori philosophy is to teach children independence from an early age, every child learns at their own pace and is treated as an individual. They also pride themselves on their Forest School which is an inspirational experience, that offers children the opportunity to achieve and develop confidence through hands-on learning in a woodland environment. To complement the nursery day they also offer extra curriculum activities e.g Secret Garden, Diddy Dance , Music & Dance, Science, Cooking sessions. Freshly prepared meals included.

Unlike many nurseries, they benefit from a smaller environment and take a personal approach, the children remain with the same staff and peer group throughout their time at the nursery, helping them form relationships and gain confidence. All the children are integrated benefiting from strong social bonds, stability and continuity of care. The Montessori ethos encourages “family grouping” where children aged 2-5 work together, with the older children acting as role models for the younger children and the younger children benefiting from learning by example from the older children. Little Tots put the child and parent’s needs first.

Little Tots recognise how important it is that parents have instant access to their child learning journal and reports. They use ParentZone - a smartphone and tablet app which brings parents closer to their child’s development at nursery. Parents will be able to see a timeline of their child’s day at nursery, with photos, videos and notes on their child’s daily activities.

I am happy with Little Tots as my son truly loves attending to all sessions there.
Activities in the Nursery are really great, like: MAD Academy, yoga, cooking, dance and drama etc.
The Forest School and Secret Garden are my son’s favourite activities.
Since attending the Nursery, my son developed
in independence, speech and gained very good friends there.
In the Nursery, staff are very welcoming and encourage children’s imagination, independence and confidence.
In my opinion, it is a very pleasing and safe environment for every child who attends there.

We have visited several nurseries before deciding where our son should go to and we immediately liked Little Tots. Regardless of it being Montessori, it’s a lovely little nursery. Staff are approachable and very friendly. They really care and pay attention. I love reading their assessments on the online
portal and seeing what my little one is getting up to, what he’s learning and all the funny comments he makes.
We love how organised nursery is. We get a weekly email with information on what is happening that week and reminders are super helpful.
Our son loves attending forest school and no other nursery we visited has that on offer.
I have seen a massive change in my son's behaviour since he started nursery and I believe it’s the nursery that is making the positive impact. He’s always happy when we pick him up, full of stories about his fun packed day.
On another note, this nursery was much more flexible on how we use our funded hours than others, allowing us to make most of the funding.

My son has been going to Little Tots since he was two, it has been a two year journey. Little Tots have recently refurbished and gained more staff. I found the atmosphere healthy and happy. The children are very happy with the activities and enjoy forest school and secret garden the most.

All of my children attended Little Tots nursery and I have never been interested in looking elsewhere. With my eldest ranging from 18 and the youngest 3, it has been lovely to see three quarters of the staff members that were there from when my eldest attended, right through to when all the others attended.
It is a family nursery which is what you look for. All of my children have learned very well with the help of the teachers. Yoga, Spanish and cooking is my daughter's favourite and it is encouraging that she comes home excited about her day every day. Little Tots set the foundation for my children and they are all doing extremely well so for that I am very thankful.

My son loves the place, he learns new things on daily basis, his favourite is dance and drama lessons.
Staff is always helpful.

We see amazing progress in our daughter's development! Staff is very professional and friendly, they take a personalised approach to each child and it feels like they are part of our family.
The nursery offers brilliant activities like yoga, dancing, Spanish classes, forest school, baking etc. Highly
recommended for those who pay special attention to the educational and emotional development of your child.

We are very happy with Little Tots. Our child genuinely loves attending his sessions there. He always seems happy when we come and collect him and is very proud of the work he produces during his sessions. Since attending Little Tots he has developed in independence, speech and gained interest in many
activities.
The forest school and secret garden are his favourite activities and he always speaks of these outings with great enthusiasm. The staff are welcoming and show interest in our child and are happy to provide information about the day. The nursery also has a beautiful outdoor space and is well equipped. We would very happily recommend Little Tots.

Since my 3 year old has started her progression is amazing, as a mum I love the space they offer and I feel I can trust them 100%.
The outside areas are one of the best I have seen after visiting at least 10 other nurseries.

Little Tots was everything we wanted in a nursery for our son – the opportunity to play, to learn, to make friends, to be outdoors, to have cooked meals and most importantly to be well looked after by caring staff whilst we worked. He was never short of someone to watch out for him. His vocabulary soared
as he communicated with children of all ages in the nursery and with SLT support from the staff. He loved coming to the nursery to play with his friends and still talks about Little Tots now after moving to ‘big’ school. I believe that his confidence and transition to school was greatly enhanced by his experience at Little Tots and the Montessori ethos that underpins all the activities they do.

Wonderful atmosphere. Children are encouraged to find skills for independence and really are treated as individuals. Having an Integrated class means children are able to learn how to form peer relationship and great bonds. Lovely nursery staff who are always available and open to having a brief update
or a more formal review of development. The meals are cooked in-house which in my view is a major plus for the Nursery. They are nutritionally balanced and with a varied menu.
Would thoroughly recommend this nursery.

Both our children have been to this wonderful nursery. We cannot recommend it enough - and we have experience of 3 other nurseries in total, so we've seen it all!


Our children have been extremely happy and peaceful here. They have become confident and independent people. They have learnt to socialise

with children with all ages (as all ages are together in this nursery), which is a huge benefit for when they reach school and have to be able to interact with children of other ages.


Our children have loved all the activities on offer including yoga, cooking classes, Spanish classes, Forest School, Secret Garden visits, special entertainment put on for Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Group time, Circle time and the many other group and one-to-one activities that take place. The teachers are extremely approachable, really care for the children and interact with them, very well and all the time.

We love the Montessori approach in general and this nursery in particular.
There are little routines when sessions start and end that the children love. Independence is encouraged and the nursery offers lovely activities, for example cooking, Spanish lessons and others. The best thing though is forest
school for the over 3 year olds.

When I am leaving my son there I know that he is in good hands. I am not worried at all.
He is really happy to go there, he learned so many things. The staff are really friendly and professional, they take care of my little one. I recommend that nursery to all my friends.
