Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust owns and operates three nurseries in Berkshire which are open to everyone; parents do not need to work for the Trust in order for their children to attend.

Little Dragons opened in 2003 in a purpose-built single story building on the Bath Road in Reading. The nursery accepts 64 children aged from three months to five years and is conveniently located within 1.8 miles of the town centre.

Children are cared for by experienced and highly qualified staff who offer an interesting, educational environment full of experiences which allow the children to explore and grow.

Each nursery has stimulating outdoor play areas and children are encouraged to spend time outside developing their gross motor skills and having fun with their friends. Inside you will find warm, cosy environments which are perfect for children to take part in numerous creative and entertaining activities.

The nursery offers the 30 hours funding and is registered to accept Tax Free Childcare payments.

Funding & Fees Guide for Little Dragons Nursery

  • £79 per day non-funded rate. Different rates for the children of BHFT employees.


    9.5% discount for full time attendance, 5 days per week. 9.5% sibling discount on the older child's fees.


    15 and 30 hours funding available for eligible children of all ages.


    Full days only offered, minimum of two days attendance per week.


    Deposit equivalent to one month's fees at the non-funded rate required to secure the place. Fees charged monthly in arrears.

They get children to do many activities and kids have good scope for sensory development. I am happy that she is in safe hands. Especially the hot and fresh food they cook and feed kids is the best part of the nursery. My kid eats well at nursery like at our home.

We are really pleased with Little Dragons, the service is excellent and represents value for money. Our little boy has been at Little Dragons for around six months now and he seems to love it. The staff are great and the facilities are excellent. We have had no problems and would recommend the nursery
to other parents.

I have been consistently impressed with the standard of care and support offered by the staff of Little Dragons. They have an amazing team there, dedicated to the welfare of the little ones in their charge. The staff really make an effort to communicate with parents to ensure that the kids get a great

Really happy with the service from Little Dragons Nursery. My daughter has been going there since May and whenever I pick her up, she always seems to be playing either happily on her own or cuddled in the lap of one of the carers. My daughter settled very quickly and within a month she was happy to
go to the nursery. The daily report I get, helps me know what she's been up to, how much she ate and when she slept, which helps me plan for the evening as I know if I've got a tired or hungry toddler to deal with. All the staff are so lovely and I have absolute confidence leaving my daughter there. She is definitely becoming more confident and sociable. I would recommend this nursery to everyone who wants their child's development to come first.

Little Dragons is wonderful. The nursery staff are kind, caring and very creative. My daughter has progressed through all of the different age groups and loves going.


Food is cooked onsite and she regularly has second helpings! There's plenty of fresh fruit etc. for snacks. I get a full rundown

of her day, every day. Couldn't wish for a better nursery.

What a great place to be comfortable to leave my child for the day. Great smiles and always welcoming. The staff go the extra mile for children/parents and they have a good customized plan schedule for the children. I have walked in several times during play and activities and have been pleased with
all the staff and their efforts. My daughter loves it, and so do I!

The staff and managers are very friendly and engaging, really value each child and interested in them. I have appreciated more individual feedback at the end of the day and not just the big standard 'Had a good day, ate well, slept well' but noticing child's interests or something they had said or done.

I'm really pleased with Little Dragons and my son really enjoys it. The staff are all really friendly and reassured me through every stage of getting him settled in. I was impressed at how they remember everything you tell them. I've never felt rushed or pushed away or like I was being a pain when calling
up or picking my son up. From day one it was like I knew the staff and they are really good with my son and he loves going.

My daughter has been at Little Dragons for 16 months and she has thrived there. She learns new words daily and her vocabulary amazes me sometimes! The outdoor garden is fabulous- it's a safe environment with tons of space for the kids to run around in. The family events that are held there regularly
are a nice way to meet other parents.

My son has developed very well since attending Little Dragons Day Nursery and really enjoys his time here. He has made some precious relationships with the children and adults.

All the members of staff are very helpful and welcoming and always happy to help. My daughter struggled to settle in to nursery life at first but all the members of staff in the room tried there hardest to make her feel safe and secure.

We are very pleased with the Little Dragons Nursery. Our daughter loves going there (Full Time) and always comes back very happy. The nursery's staff are very friendly and helpful. I couldn't be happier with the level of care provided - there are plenty of stimulating activities, lots of creative play,
good and nutritious food, the nursery has a good size garden with slides, bikes etc. The staff are very helpful in supporting children's development and in helping to achieve milestones. They know children very well and at the end of the day always provide a very detailed handover to parents. They maintain children's folders very up to date with a lot of photos and artwork. The staff makes sure kids get exposure to a variety of experiences - to mention just a couple - farm animal visits to the nursery: e.g chickens, bunnies...etc. The fire brigade visit which included photos taken in the fire engine. Our daughter joined nursery at 1.5 years and now is almost 3, would highly recommend to other parents!

The nursery provides an amicable atmosphere for the kid. Lots of varied indoor and outdoor activities help in stimulating their brains. My son learns new words every time he returns from nursery and seems pleased at the end of the day.
