Jack in the Box Day Nursery in Slough opened in 1992 and registered at these premises in 2004. It operates from a single storey building within the grounds of Upton Hospital in Slough.

Children are cared for by experienced and highly qualified staff who offer an interesting, educational environment full of experiences which allow the children to explore and grow.

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust owns and operates three nurseries in Berkshire which are open to everyone; parents do not need to work for the Trust in order for their children to attend.

Each nursery has stimulating outdoor play areas and children are encouraged to spend time outside developing their gross motor skills and having fun with their friends. Inside you will find warm, cosy environments which are perfect for children to take part in numerous creative and entertaining activities.

The nursery offers the 30 hours funding and is registered to accept Tax-Free Childcare payments.

Funding & Fees Guide for Jack in the Box Nursery

  • £79 per day non-funded rate. Different rates for the children of BHFT employees.


    9.5% discount for full time attendance, 5 days per week. 9.5% sibling discount on the older child's fees.


    15 and 30 hours funding available for eligible children of all ages.


    Full days only offered, minimum of two days attendance per week.


    Deposit equivalent to one month's fees at the non-funded rate required to secure the place. Fees charged monthly in arrears.

The staff at the nursery are very amicable. I feel safe whenever I drop my son at Jack in the Box. I especially like to thank one lady who takes care of him. They are creative and know very well how to take care of toddlers. I have tried some childminders but have never been satisfied. It is the best,
safest place for toddlers.

Our son has been at Jack in the Box Nursery for the past two years and is now sadly leaving for a more local pre-school.
He made huge progress since starting nursery and transitioning to the pre-school room. He is enthusiastic to go in and loves seeing his friends and key workers. He talks about them
at home too. He was given the opportunity to develop his interests in dinosaurs and cars.
My wife and I are so pleased with the confident, helpful and caring young person he is growing into, and much of that is down to his language and communication development at nursery.
We just wanted to say a huge thank you for looking after him and helping him flourish. He is going to miss you all.

The staff at the nursery are always very friendly and communicate very well about my child's day. They create a very positive, fun, interactive place for the children to learn. I feel safe knowing my child is safe and having fun at the nursery.

First of all, I want to thank the managers and staff for everything they do for the children. My baby took time to adjust for about 2-3 weeks. From what I noticed, he likes his key workers, and when he sees one particular lady, he is so excited.

Amazing nursery. Staff are so good with kids and my son is only 1-years-old, and I am really happy with the service Jack in the Box provides. Nursery teachers are so friendly! My boy gets excited every morning when we drop him to nursery and goes straight over to the teachers with a big smile on his
face. Brilliant set up and anyone should have that peace of mind when leaving your kids at Jack in the Box. Will definitely recommend to friends and family! My little one is very attached to me and my wife, so it really is amazing to see him build that confidence and enjoy his day at nursery. He has definitely learnt so much by being at Jack in the Box; I and my wife are very happy with the way he is learning new things every day. All the staff are very friendly and supportive. My son immensely enjoyed his time while in the nursery and dearly talks about all the staff he meets at home and the new friends he comes to play with. My two older boys also went to Jack in the Box, and when it was time for him to attend nursery, we didn't
have any second thoughts about bringing him to Jack in the Box Nursery. We are always updated via emails regarding new policies, and what's new in the nursery, especially during Covid times and special occasions, (especially when they need to dress up) as busy moms, we forget what was handed over to us when come and pick up our children, but thank you for the emails. We would highly recommend Jack in the Box Nursery.

As parents, we really thank all the staff for their support through the pandemic.
My son has really enjoyed from day one, took no time to settle, always excited to go to nursery.
Very spacious and lots of learning activities for kids during the day. Staff are very friendly and children are well taken
care of.
I would definitely recommend this nursery without hesitation.

Wonderful nursery! All the staff are so friendly and nice. My son did not take much time to adjust and loves going to nursery. They handled the situation during the pandemic very well by having lots of processes in place so that all kids are safe. The nursery is very spacious inside and out. Lots of
activities for kids to do in the garden as well. Very happy with the nursery.

My son has been at Jack in the Box Nursery for one year and he loves going in every morning. The staff are very friendly and have a great rapport with the children. Would say this is one of the best nursery in Slough. All of the staff are so nurturing, supportive and they provide him with so much care,
attention and positivity. I have always found the key workers to be very communicative and the admin team are so efficient. I would definitely recommend Jack in the Box Nursery to anyone considering a nursery in the area.

My four year old has been going here for over two years and will be ready for school this September. She loves her nursery, teachers and the friends she has made there. The communication from the nursery is very prompt, the staff are very friendly, courteous and have the care of my daughter at their
heart. Of course no nursery is perfect and I could not pick on things but I have had no serious concerns that I have had to bring up with the nursery since my daughter has joined.

I visited many nurseries before Jack in the Box Nursery but this nursery felt different as soon as I walked through the doors for the tour. It felt such a warm, homely and nurturing environment. My child has been attending for eighteen months now and she loves it. Everyday she comes out telling me all
of the exciting things she has done during the day. The staff are all warm, caring and have genuine affection for the children. There is plenty of outside space for the children to do activities and the inside is clean and spacious.

We sent both of our children to Jack in the Box from being babies right up to going to school. What stands out to me about this nursery is the staff - every single one of them seems to genuinely care for the children and love to tell you what they have been doing with their day and how they are getting
on. You are greeted with a smile and everybody says hello and knows your child's name and temperament. Both of my kids have always skipped into nursery in the morning and only get upset when it is time to come home! The garden is a lovely resource and the activities on offer really aid their development. I looked around a lot of nurseries and you will find others with more modern facilities (and much higher fees!) but I did not see any that matched the happy atmosphere of Jack in the Box. I would thoroughly recommend this nursery to all of my friends.

It took my child a while to settle in but the nursery were and have been so accommodating. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and they greet us every morning and afternoon with a smile. They have accommodated my child’s nutritional needs without any issue. I feel the nursery have worked hard
to ensure safety during the pandemic without compromising on the child's experience. My child is happy at nursery and loves to play outside in the garden area (which is big with lots of outdoor toys/activities for the children to play with/do). I have found that his confidence has grown. It’s a lovely atmosphere and I would recommend the nursery to all.

My daughter started to attend this nursery a few months ago and it already made a huge difference. She settled really well and very fast and that is only because the staff is so friendly and caring. She started to talk here, she learned to play nicely with others and to be part of activities. We get
daily reports of how she's been, and monthly reviews which helps us to keep a track of her growth and learning. We wholeheartedly recommend it!
