Acorn at Jubilee Wood is situated next to Jubilee Wood Primary School, located in Fishermead, a short walk from Central Milton Keynes. It is a 64 place nursery catering for babies and children from 4 months up to 4 years.

The nursery has two large garden areas plus an onsite Forest School woodland area. Outdoor play is a key aspect of Acorn’s ethos and the children benefit from spending time outdoors every day, whatever the weather. Included in the fees are regular Forest School sessions. These exciting educational experiences are suitable for pre-schoolers and are delivered by fully trained forest school leaders and offer an innovative approach to outdoor play.

The nursery is bright and spacious and offers free-flow access throughout each age group. The team work closely with parents and carers to develop children’s interests and skills, ensuring each of them reaches their full potential. A variety of imaginative and creative play activities can be enjoyed alongside regular outings and trips, and in addition to three large playrooms and a central hub area for messy play, there is a large hall for active play and a cosy sensory room which is very popular with all the children.

All the nursery meals are freshly prepared and delivered each day by Acorn Catering, which operates from the hub kitchen at their Shenley Church End nursery. They use local ethically sourced produce to create their delicious meals and all the menus have been designed to be nutritionally balanced ensuring they offer a variety of foods.

A home visit from the manager and your child’s key person is offered to all new families as children benefit from meeting their key person in a familiar environment, before attending the nursery for settling-in sessions.

They currently offer under 2, 2, 3 and 4-year-old funding and 30 hours funding for 3/4-year-olds.

Funding & Fees Guide for Acorn Day Nursery (Jubilee Wood)

  • Full time place starting from £1,300.00
    Full day from £68.00
    Morning session from £40.00
    Afternoon session from £35.50


  • Fees are inclusive of all meals, snacks, drinks (including approved formula milk), nappies and activities.
    We do not charge registration fees, only a £100 deposit which is refunded against the first month’s fees. We don’t charge for settling in sessions, but we do expect payment for all nursery fees to be paid up front at the beginning of each month, which is standard practice for all childcare providers. We do not charge for bank holidays, our four training days each year, or for the three days closure between Christmas and New Year. We do, however, charge for days children don’t attend through illness or holidays, apart from exceptional circumstances.

My son attended for approx 18 months. We always knew there was an issue with his personal development and looked to do something about this, however, there was little encouragement from the nursery even though we were always vocal about concerns we had. Acorn made little attempt to work on getting him
to eat whilst attending, instead offered to have him attend different hours to miss lunch (which won’t help when he starts school). He had no contact with the SENCO until he moved rooms (when he turned 3 to the room she was in) and no attempt to liaise with SALT, whom we had already contacted and attending sessions with. Pulled my son out and he now attends a preschool who immediately contacted the various teams on his first day who will hopefully be able to get him 1:1 support that we’ve always known he needs. Regret keeping my son at Acorn so long and feel like if we’d pulled him out sooner he would be thriving.

I had my daughter going to Acorn Day Nursery and she really enjoyed it. There are many activities for the kids to do, a lot of messy playing and forest school. The outdoor area is stunning and offers the children the opportunity to explore the environment.
I saw big improvments in my daughter's evolution
since she started. Saying goodbye to her key persons was very hard for her, she is still asking when she can go back.
My son is attending the same nursery and I would not change ot for nothing.
Best place for them to be and develop!!!
I strongly recommend Acorn Day Nursery.

My son joined Acorn Day Nursery just two weeks ago when I returned to work after the summer. And I can’t fault them one bit, not only have they made sure he’s settling well and happy they’ve provided evidence through the app which is a huge comfort to me while at work. Seeing him happy and playing through
the posts and pictures they send is wonderful.
I would highly recommend Acorn to family and friends. I am extremely happy I chose them as a child care provider enabling me to still work.

My daughter is 13 months old and has only just started at nursery after having spent the previous 5 months in lockdown with very little interaction with others outside the immediate family and virtually no experience of being in new and unfamiliar environments. Her key worker suggested a number of settling
in sessions to get her used to being with other people but with one of us in attendance as well. These progressed over a couple of weeks to her being there without us and participating in the nursery routine for a few hours at a time. Her key worker has been very patient and supportive which has helped my daughter make the transition to being there 4 days a week. She eats well and seems happy all of which is evidenced through the Famly app the nursery use to provide updates throughout the day.
Their policies for cleaning, checking temperatures and ensuring that they are COVID safe and compliant are clear and make sense.
I would recommend to others.

I like the patience and attention they gave my son on his first day to help him settle. They have a big garden that the children play in, my son loves it since he likes playing outdoors, they also have great classrooms equipped with different play items for the children to explore. I think my son loves
the school already since he even didn't want to go home on his first day.

Last day of nursery today after 3 years. I cannot question the dedication, care, and love shown toward my child in this time.
She has simply had the best preparation in her early years as she heads into school.
From day one as an Acorn, to leaving as an Oak I know I made the right choice in choosing

The staff have been A1 throughout this. Communication about her development and daily activities has always been given.
Even through lockdown, regular contact with activities, and updates.

My daughter has been attending this nursery for some time now, and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the nursery environment and the staff themselves.
First, I want to express how grateful I am to every single member of staff from the kitchen assistants, playroom staff to management.
My daughter feels joy when she enters the building, not fear of me leaving her and that is a blessing in its self. She is so comfortable and genuinely happy to be there. She loves all the staff like they are her own family, so I never worry about leaving her.
Each day my child comes back from a new adventure, she tells me all the things she has done and learned that day; it’s great.
I personally believe one of the reasons my daughter is so advanced for her age is because the nursery staff took the time to get to know her and nurture her. I will be sad when she goes to mainstream school.

I have changed from a different nursery and I'm sorry I haven't done it earlier. I'm very happy with how my two daughters are looked after. They are 3.5years old and 1year old. They both were given time to settle in, they also had a home visit which was great. I love their app what gives me a current
update on how they are, especially I'm happy with pictures and few words about little one which makes me feel calm and relaxed.

Acorn Day Nursery (Jubilee Wood) is the by far the best nursery I have had the pleasure of sending my children to in the last 10 years.
They are very accommodating to the needs of myself and my children, the staff are very polite and professional while still remaining down to earth.
I love the fact
that they have an app, so I can see what my children are doing and also what they've eaten (so I know what to prepare for dinner).
After returning to work after a few years, they were able to make the transition run smoothly, not only for the children but for me.
And for that I am forever thankful, I would recommend Acorn Day Nursery (Jubilee Wood) in this lifetime and the next.

The staff and management at Jubille Wood go above and beyond their roles every day. Each member of staff has a friendly and professional manner from the lunchtime supervisors to the management team. They take a keen interest in each child when collecting and dropping my child off, I am given feedback
on his day. My child engages in many activities which have helped in his development and with the help of the nursery staff he has grown into a confident toddler. Which is all documented in the family app. A service the nursery staff provide an update whilst your child is there. Therefore giving you the peace of mind that your child is safe and enjoying the nursery environment. I couldn't ask for a better run nursery.

My child recently moved into the next age group within the nursery and has settled in well. The staff have been brilliant with supporting her with the transition. My daughter has been coming to the nursery since 7 months old and couldn’t be happier, they are all so welcoming and take the time to talk
to her every day she is in.
The activities provided have been stimulating and challenging, I have noticed a change in her development with her language and knowledge. My daughter attended her first forest school session off-site which she loved, she hasn’t stopped talking about it and is very much looking forward to more.

My daughter has attended Jubilee Wood since she was 15 months; she is now 3 and a half. My husband and I chose Jubilee Wood initially for its obvious nurturing environment in the baby room (Acorns). Other nurseries felt quite clinical and detached in this respect. Staff are extremely dedicated, warm
and professional. I have complete faith and trust that my daughter's interests are at the heart of the nursery's care for her. She has developed social skills from day one, self-confidence to explore, feels safe and latterly she is developing writing and counting skills as well as her understanding of the world. The staff use very creative ways to develop activities for learning through play. I like that they also, hold a few special events each year, again, the staff give up their weekends for this which is a testament to their own dedication and teamwork. I will be very sad when my daughter leaves next year but happy the nursery has had such a positive impact on her developmental journey.

The staff at Acorn Jubilee are warm and friendly from the first time they meet you and your child. The nursery is managed very well they are responsive to my child's needs. My two year old was helped to settle into the nursery in a gradual and phased manner after initially being overwhelmed by the nursery
environment. Its two months now and he loves it. The staff give you feedback daily and they are great with kids. They do a lot of activities indoors and outdoors.

Amy’s childcare career first began in 2008 when she started working for Acorn as a nursery assistant. She is very passionate about providing high-quality learning opportunities for all children and giving them the choice to experience things they may not have at home.


She has a Level 5 in Childcare and a real passion for working with children.
