Alton College Nursery is open to the general public, staff and students. It offers daycare for to up to 28 children a day on a sessional basis, for children aged six months to five years. Set in the small, historic town of Alton (of Jane Austen fame), the nursery is on the campus of HSDC Alton (formerly Alton College) which is just a short walk from the high street.

With six members of staff who have all worked at the nursery for many years, the nursery offers a home from home experience for the children in a safe and exciting environment. Each child is assigned their own key worker who takes responsibility for monitoring their progress through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Appropriately given its location, much emphasis is placed on learning by providing many different experiences in a fun and exciting way, also building on independence helping the children develop individually for their journey when they leave the nursery and go to school.

They have several visiting activities to enjoy including Boogie Beats (music and movement), visiting farm animals, zoolab (animal handling experience) and Mr Giant (entertainer). The children enjoy the use of the onsite sports hall and activities provided by the sports department and visiting the theatre to watch the students' drama productions. The nursery also uses the local amenities, visiting the library for storytime and visiting the local residential home to share activities with the elderly.

Food is freshly prepared onsite and children are taught about the importance of a balanced diet.

My son has been attending the nursery since he was 10 months old and has just had his last day before starting school. He has made the best memories and friendships that I could have wished for at his age. Thank you to the team, especially the manager and deputy manager, for always being so supportive
and bringing joy into his life when I have to work.

My eldest daughter did placement here for college and said this was her favourite placement. So I have sent my two babies here. My babies run up to the door and can not wait to get inside. The staff are great, friendly, caring and easy to talk to. Plenty of photos and information about what the children
have been up to. I personally recommend this nursery to everyone.

Five stars! I would say this nursery goes above and beyond for not only the children but the parents as well. All of the staff have been nothing but accommodating and honest with myself from the start. My son has been attending the nursery since he was 1 year old and has thrived ever since. I would
like to say that three particular members of staff have especially helped and supported both my son and myself through the difficult journey of parenthood. He will be attending school in September, and all of the staff have helped and supported me in getting him ready for it. Safe to say will be very sad to be leaving the nursery. My son is always happy going into nursery and happy coming out as well and has come leaps and bounds in making friends for life. Look no further when thinking of the right nursery for your child; this is the nursery!

I would 100% recommend Alton College Nursery to any parent. My daughter started a couple of weeks ago and they have been excellent in welcoming us both to the nursery. All the staff are happy and polite and always happy to talk to you about any concerns you have at drop off and pick up. I'm so glad
I chose this nursery for my daughter.

My son attended Alton College Nursery for two years and he is starting school this month. He had the most amazing start to his education with the lovely team at the nursery and they have really helped get him ready for the next part of his journey in Reception. The wonderful manager and all the staff
are very passionate about the care and wellbeing of the children and my son ran in on the first day and didn't look back! We are looking forward to sending our daughter this month and I know she will have a fantastic time. I would very much recommend the nursery.

Both our daughters attend the nursery with the eldest about to go on to school. The manager and her team have helped to prepare her for her next steps in life and encouraged her to be inquisitive, outgoing and confident. The nursery is extremely well run and the staff couldn't be kinder and more supportive.
Their understanding of our kids is exceptional and we have the utmost confidence in the care and support they receive.

Would highly recommend. I am so happy I send my children here they are so happy snd thriving. The activities are very well thought out and the nursery has really improved my son’s confidence! It’s so comforting to know your children are happy when you're not there!

This is an excellent nursery with dedicated, friendly and professional staff. My daughter has flourished under their care and I have always been confident that she has been safe and well cared for. The environment is stimulating with lots of different areas for the children to play in. Routines are
clear as are the behavioural expectations. I can't recommend this nursery highly enough.

My daughter joined this nursery when she was 2 and a half having previously attended another nursery from the age of 1. After her first day, she said ‘I lub it’ which translates as ‘I love it’! She adores her days there and always talks fondly of the staff and children. One thing that I really love
about it is that she plays with children who are all different ages, from the little ‘babies’ to the ‘big kids’ who are off to school soon. The older children inspire her and the little ones helped her prepare for the arrival of her younger sister. She is so happy there and has thrived. It's really a very lovely place.

My 3-year-old is currently at Alton College Nursery and absolutely loves it. She goes bouncing in every day and always comes out smiling. She has a lovely relationship with the staff and I also find them very warm and friendly. In particular, the manager is excellent. I cannot fault the way she runs
the nursery. I appreciate how well she gets to know all the children and their parents and the time she takes to chat at pick up and drop off. In terms of facilities, the children have plenty of space and plenty of toys. They are all in one room together, which I think is lovely. Prior to this, my elder daughter attended Alton College Nursery for two years. She is currently in year R and though Alton College Nursery is not an 'academic' nursery (as others in town are), my daughter is now reading and writing at year 1 level. I certainly credit Alton College Nursery with preparing her for school and instilling a love of learning in her.

Staff are always so friendly and always provide feedback of the children to the parents. My little one has learnt so much since she has started nursery in January. She enjoys every minute and misses nursery and her friends when she is not at school/nursery.

Very happy for my child to attend the nursery. He always appears happy and very well cared for. He has made lovely strides in his development since attending - in all areas of the EYFS. Especially social skills with being born in lockdown. Kind and caring staff - always happy to help.

Can't recommend Alton College Nursery more highly - the staff are so attentive, reassuring and informative. My daughter has eczema and allergies and I never worry about how well cared for she is; she always goes in happily with a smile which is the best feeling for me.

My son has been attending Alton College Nursery for over 1 year now and he absolutely loves it. The nursery has helped him so much with his development and social interaction. He is nearly 2 years old and always coming home with new words, songs and talking about staff and friends. He is always happy
to go to nursery and always smiling and laughing when we collect him! The staff are fantastic, they are kind and caring, experienced and always stimulating the children with educational fun! I would recommend this nursery to anyone.

Both my children have enjoyed such happy days at this Nursery with caring and nurturing staff to ensure they are getting the best out of their time. Alton College Nursery is a safe, stimulating environment for little ones to play, explore and grow. They do lots of creative activities, have weekly themes, daily reading, play outside in all weathers and dance to music. The staff are kind and caring. They are approachable, encourage friendships and
provide comfort when needed. The nursery is managed excellently! There are no surprises and all plans and events are shared with parents in good time. In addition to all this, they support the parents and families of the children in their care and were very organised during the coronavirus pandemic. Thank you!
