Alton College Nursery is open to the general public, staff and students. It offers daycare for to up to 28 children a day on a sessional basis, for children aged six months to five years. Set in the small, historic town of Alton (of Jane Austen fame), the nursery is on the campus of HSDC Alton (formerly Alton College) which is just a short walk from the high street.

With six members of staff who have all worked at the nursery for many years, the nursery offers a home from home experience for the children in a safe and exciting environment. Each child is assigned their own key worker who takes responsibility for monitoring their progress through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Appropriately given its location, much emphasis is placed on learning by providing many different experiences in a fun and exciting way, also building on independence helping the children develop individually for their journey when they leave the nursery and go to school.

They have several visiting activities to enjoy including Boogie Beats (music and movement), visiting farm animals, zoolab (animal handling experience) and Mr Giant (entertainer). The children enjoy the use of the onsite sports hall and activities provided by the sports department and visiting the theatre to watch the students' drama productions. The nursery also uses the local amenities, visiting the library for storytime and visiting the local residential home to share activities with the elderly.

Food is freshly prepared onsite and children are taught about the importance of a balanced diet.

We love Alton College Nursery. Since our son started going there, we have felt very much at peace knowing he is looked after and cared for so well. He always has a great time and comes home happy and tired. We know he is getting a great education with lots of support and care, plus he is having a fun
time. The staff are kind and understanding and do everything they can to accommodate each childs needs.

My son has attended Alton College Nursery for three years and has just left for school. He has absolutely loved every minute of being there, and never wants to come home at pick up! All of the staff are absolutely wonderful. So kind, caring and professional. They go over and above in so many ways. The
kids have so much fun, but I love that there is also focus on each child’s individual development. As a parent, I love seeing him excited to go to nursery, and I am really looking forward to his younger sister starting! I couldn’t recommend this nursery or its staff highly enough!

Our son has had the most wonderful time attending Alton College Nursery. All of the staff are incredibly supportive and helpful with his additional needs. My son has needed extra support as he has trouble with social interaction and his understanding of routine. The manager and the team have all been
really great at helping him to work through his difficulties and without them having the experience they do we would not have been aware of his additional needs. We are so grateful for everything they have done for us. The nursery is a lovely environment and welcoming for the children with a great range of facilities including an exciting outdoor garden with lots of activities. We could not have been happier with the experience our son has had during his time here and will be sad for him to leave to go to school.

I cannot speak highly enough of the nursery. The whole team are engaged and caring with my child and he has a great time there. His confidence and social skills are really fostered while he’s there, and the quality of care and attention is excellent.

Alton College Nursery is a superb nursery, with modern furnishings, a safe enclosed outdoor space and is clean and secure. The setting is separate from the rest of the college, with its own car park, locked (keypad) gate, and is secure on both arrival and exit with staff taking responsibility for greeting
and when the child is leaving. I have found the staff fantastic; both my children have attended, with my eldest now left but still has emotional connections there. My youngest loves attending and has clearly developed tremendously since she started. The staff are also approachable, provide good feedback (daily, as well as termly development) but are receptive to parental feedback as well. Their culture is warm and very friendly. One area I wish would change, is that the nursery is only open during term time - linked to the wider college. This means that childcare support for working parents must be found elsewhere during holiday periods; some nurseries are open throughout the year.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Alton College Nursery.
Our son started there when he was three and has now been there over a year. All the staff are lovely and really helped him to settle in and make the transition from a childminder setting. We had heard great things about it from other parents
whose children had attended, and the outstanding Ofsted record obviously speaks for itself.
He has learnt so much there, and they are really helping to gear him up to be ready for when he starts school.
There is a great variety of toys, activities and trips for the children to engage with.
The car park is super convenient to drop off as well!
Both my son and I will miss this place when he goes to school.

I cannot speak highly enough of this Nursery. The staff go above and beyond and nothing is too much trouble. We were always greeted with a smile every morning, and everybody that works at the Nursery is very approachable.
My son started at 2 years old and his development came on leaps and bounds.
He was always so happy to go to Nursery and came home full of stories and excitement. That was when I could get him to leave!
He has made so many friends and will truly miss everyone at the Nursery when he starts Primary School in September.

Fantastic nursery for development and learning! The manager and the team are very knowledgeable about child development and behaviours, and work with parents to support individual needs. Both my children have excelled within this nursery and feel it is a home away from home. The team are always happy
to chat or implement new strategies and really work with parents to ensure children receive consistent care. As a full time working parent I have felt secure that my children are safe throughout the day, that they are being offered comfort, empathy and stimulation, and that they come home happy. I would recommend Alton College Nursery to anyone in need of childcare.

My daughter has attended Alton College nursery since Sept 2018 when she was two and is now just about to leave ready for school this year. I honestly cannot rate this nursery highly enough. My daughter has thrived here, and since day one has always run into nursery with a smile on her face. The staff
here are amazing. They have all been so supportive, not just of my daughter but me as well. Anytime I have been concerned about areas of her development they have listened and supported me. This includes potty training! I have always felt very comfortable talking to them. I have always been kept well informed of the activities my daughter has taken part in and supported when a speech therapy referral was made for her as well as seeing her learning journal regularly. I am so sad that she will be leaving, but the confidence and social skills that she has developed here will stand her in great stead as she moves on to school. She has loved every second of her time here.

Alton College Nursery is fabulous and I can't recommend it highly enough. My son loves going and has attended form 8 months old (he is now 4). The staff are so welcoming and really love caring for all the children. He will really miss going when he starts school in September. It really is a fantastic
facility that provides amazing childcare at a very reasonable price - we all love it!
