Bright Horizons Southampton Nursling Day Nursery and Preschool (formerly Asquith Southampton Day Nursery) is based in the David Lloyd Leisure Club in Nursling, Southampton.

The nursery has light and spacious rooms that lead directly onto a beautiful garden area.

Working closely with parents, the team offer an exclusive settling in period ensuring that children are happy and confident before starting at the nursery.

The nursery consists of two baby rooms, two toddler rooms, a nursery and a preschool room.

Children take part in a variety of activities, appropriate for their age. For example, sensory play is a primary focus for babies as they learn about the world around them.

As they grow into toddlers, role-play becomes prominent, before they reach preschool age and focus shifts to more structured learning, getting the children ready for the move to school.

Bright Horizons' unique 'Ready for School' programme is implemented in the preschool room. The nursery also has 'Growing Enhancements' embedded in the daily routines, from Creative Cooks to Growing Artists.

The nursery also incorporates Growing Writers and Growing Mathematicians, working with the parents to develop the children’s skills both at home and at nursery through the play and learning at home activities.

Being outdoors is also a common theme, allowing children to experience all weathers as well as participate in the Growing Gardeners and Active Athletes programmes.

The garden is full of activities and resources to stimulate young minds, including a book corner and access to bikes and trikes.

The nursery is rated 'Good' by Ofsted, following an inspection in December 2022.

Our little one loves going to nursery and she is happy when I pick her up. The staff are always friendly and professional. They are all always welcoming as soon as you walk through the door. I also like that if my little one isn't 100 percent in the morning they will put an update on the app or give
me a call to let me know how she is getting on. The setting is laid out lovely and in a perfect location for us. The garden looks small but there is still plenty of room for the children. It's lovely knowing that I can leave my little one with the staff I feel I can trust and know that she will have a good day.

Our son has been at Bright Horizons Nursling for just over a year and a half now and he is thriving. We couldn’t be happier with the staff, they are so supportive and always happy to help. Most recently with helping and encouraging him with potty training. He loves his key workers/room staff and his
friends and loves going to nursery.

We have been sending our son to Bright Horizons for a year and we were initially worried as first-time parents about how he would react to being left. He had introductory sessions and has completely thrived. He has built fantastic relationships with the staff and other children and we receive updates
throughout the day about his naps and the 3 health varied meals he has had etc and regular updates/pictures of him engaging, learning and enjoying play and tasks while at the nursery.
Drop-off is easy as he is keen to go and now he is beginning to talk, tells me about the tasks he has been doing during the day when I collect him.
He has spent the last year in the baby room and learnt so much with the amazing staff, but I think now he is ready to move up to continue his development in the nursery room.
Thank you all at Bright Horizons for making our lives easy and taking such good care of our son - keep up the fantastic work it is very much appreciated!

Our son loves the nursery and we couldn't ask for a better group of people to provide him with the care and love he needs. The manager really cares about the learning and outcomes for children and the communication between the nursery and us is great. Couldn't fault them!

Both of my daughters have attended this place, and we cannot express enough how impressed we are. My eldest, who is now in school, absolutely loved it and was always excited to go. As for my youngest, who is currently there, she has faced some developmental challenges, and the nursery staff have been
absolutely incredible in supporting her. We have seen tremendous progress in her in so many areas. When we requested additional support, they were quick to respond and provided me with great reassurance. The entire staff are wonderful, and we have developed meaningful relationships with them. I feel completely at ease leaving my child in their care. I know I will be emotional when the day comes for her to leave.

My son absolutely loves attending nursery here for 2 days a week. All of the staff are lovely and made me and my son feel welcome when he joined in April 2023. The family app is regularly updated by staff members throughout the day so I can keep track of what he has eaten, when he has napped etc. The
staff regularly review his progress and have had such a positive impact on his development. Despite the smaller outdoor area, they are keen to get the children outside at every possible opportunity.

This is a Lovely nursery. My little boy enjoys going here. The outside space is a little bit on the small side but he doesn’t seem to notice. All the staff are very friendly. I like how they do 3 meals and open at 7.30 so can do early drop-offs.

Both my children went to Southampton day nursery and the staff have always been incredible. My boys loved their time there. The staff turnover is very small so the boys had the same members looking after them. It’s a very kind and caring environment and everyone is lovely. I know other parents who send
their children there and they said they wouldn’t dream of using any other nursery. It’s great that it is all-inclusive, with food and nappies so you don’t need to worry about packing a bag every day. They offer loads of settling sessions and both my boys were really happy there. I personally wouldn’t use any other day nursery to look after my young children.

Great nursery and pre-school. My first child attended this nursery 5 years ago, so when we welcomed our second one, we did not hesitate to choose the same place. We are very happy with the great quality of care all the staff provide. Our child is flourishing in such a loving environment.

I highly recommend this nursery!
Naturally, as a mum, I looked at several nurseries but never felt more reassured with Bright Horizons. Parking is free and child parking bays are close with a nursery drop-off zone. My daughter has come on leaps and bounds due to the hard work of the staff and the
educational activities they do for the children. The nursery provides 2-year funding. The nursery has an app that they use to post pictures of my daughter which is very reassuring especially when you’re at work all day. I know that I can call at any time and ask how she is doing. Thank you all.

My son loves this nursery and the team is brilliant. They have looked after him so well and taken all of his additional needs into consideration. My son has eczema and his key workers cream him as appropriate. My son has flourished massively since being at nursery and we are very proud parents. The

Our boy started here at 8 months old and settled in very quickly. The staff are amazing and I have always felt comfortable leaving him while going to work. We have asked for a special diet that suits our boy better and the management have been very understanding and accommodating.

Excellent nursery. Very friendly and amazing at helping our child grow. The staff are so nice. The safeguarding is brilliant. Clean, tidy rooms and lots for the children to do. The only downfall is the amount of outdoor space. The nursery does really well with the use of space they have.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

My name is Mel and I have worked at Bright Horizons Nursling for almost 3 years. Previous to this role I have worked in both nursery and school settings as well as running both Beaver Scout and Cub Scout groups. Childcare is something that I have always wanted to do since I was a teenager. Following school, I studied to become a nursery nurse. I worked in a preschool for 10 years and only left because I had my own children by then and I wanted to spend more time with them. While my 2 sons were at school I studied for a degree in Childhood while also working part-time. Since this, I have worked as a teaching assistant, and a nursery nurse and from there have worked my way up to management. I love my role, particularly in making a difference for children.
