Opened in 2005 the Nursery is located in two beautiful grade II listed buildings and is ideally positioned to access either public transport and the ferry or the main routes out to Fareham.

Gosport has large spacious rooms with direct access to outdoor play areas.

The main nursery building accommodates children across two rooms - toddlers and preschool, and the second separate building houses the under two's age group.

The best way to get to know the nursery is to visit and look at what they can offer families where parents can meet and talk to a dedicated childcare team who are proud to meet the needs of each individual child cared for whilst providing the very highest standard of early years care and education.

My little boy started through all the crazy COVID, and even though this wasn’t the “norm” for the staff, you would never have known. His settle sessions went very smoothly, the staff made us feel very welcome, and there was a relationship established from the beginning. Now two months in, he is very
settled and goes into nursery each day with his outstretched arms to the girls with no hesitation. Considering the fact I have never been in the building he attends, I know that he is safe and secure within the environment and absolutely loves his days there. His confidence has grown so much since being there and loves the food he is given at mealtimes. He is thriving so much, and it’s so lovely to see. Makes the decision to return back to work worthwhile to see my baby having fun and making friends. Thank you, Hopscotch.

Amazing nursery, all staff have been brilliant in helping to settle my daughter into nursery during these strange COVID times. I've just gone back to work after being on maternity leave and was anxious about leaving her - I had no need to be! She has settled so well, she even holds her arms out to the
staff when we drop her off in the mornings. The end of day handovers are excellent and she always looks like she's had lots of fun. I can't recommend this nursery highly enough.

I feel compelled to leave a review just three days into my sons time with Hopscotch Gosport.
As most parents, my husband and I have felt anxious about leaving our nine-month-old baby boy in the care of someone else. The anxiety is made worse by our son refusing to enjoy the comfort of anyone other
than mum or dad (even with close relatives). We have a ‘Velcro baby’.
In the three days the kind keyworker has worked tirelessly and patiently with my (almost inconsolable) son to help him adjust to his new surroundings. She has not only helped him but myself and husband get through a challenging time.
I’m confident that my son will thrive under the care of this key worker and the rest of the hopscotch staff. The surrounding children in the under 2s area are breathing testimony to the happy, fun, caring and safe environment the team work so hard to achieve.

My son struggled to go to nursery for a long time and I was tempted to take him out. I sat and had a chat with the members of the staff there and felt more confident in leaving my son there. They have been amazing and don't mind me ringing them constantly, he still has some bad mornings when he is left,
but he's always fine afterwards. They have done an amazing job in building a relationship with him and ensuring that he can trust them whilst he is there. I've seen a major difference in the last year and it's all down to them. Happy mummy. Thank you, girls.

My daughter attended from the age of 2-3 and she absolutely loved it. The only reason we changed nursery was due to moving house. She made amazing bonds with certain staff members, who are still friends now. She always enjoyed going and did so much stuff.

My daughter has attended Hopscotch for about 3 years. At the time of going, I couldn't fault the nursery. 18 months later the nursery has had many staff changes, with many staff leaving, this lead to my daughter having many different key workers in a short space of time, which wasn't great for her
as it was unsettling. I felt that the whole of the nursery setting really suffered. Over the last few months changes are starting to happen and there seems to be a slight improvement.

I could not be happier with all the staff that work in the nursery they show really care and commitment to the children. They have worked hard to build a strong relationship with my daughter who loves them all. My daughter has developed well since being in the nursery just over a year and is much
more confident. The preparation they putting in for starting school is fantastic and feel this will ease the change of environment in September. Thank you to everyone there fantastic nurturing environment.

I have been using Hopscotch since my eldest started in 2011. After looking at another nearby nursery, there was no comparison. The facilities at Hopscotch were so much better presented and in good condition. The staff were welcoming and took a genuine interest in making it the best place for my son.
So full of confidence, I enrolled my second son in 2016 and was not disappointed. The staff are still amazing and the setting has only got better - they really make it a great place for the children to learn, have fun and grow in. The feedback I get at the end of each session is spot on and they get to know each child, their needs and development. Even when youngest has moody morning, they are there to greet him with a smile and he soon settles down - they know what he needs and wants. My youngest loves his time at nursery and my eldest has great memories - in fact, they still remember him when he comes to pick his little brother :)

This is a lovely nursery. The staff are great with my son, brilliant and patient at settling him down in the mornings. We are always greeted with a friendly smile. They offer a wide range of activities. The setting is clean and hygienic and the menu provided is varied and nutritious. The hand over at
the end of the session is detailed, so I always know what he's been up to, what he's eaten, if he's napped, etc. The tapestry app is great too. Overall, we are really pleased we enrolled him here.

Hopscotch is a fantastic nursery, which has provided excellent care to my daughter since the age of 11 months. The staff are caring and great fun. My child's key skills have developed and she fascinates me with all the different activities she gets up to. She enjoys a wide variety of food and eats it
all, including seconds. I would highly recommend Hopscotch.

I'm extremely happy that my son goes to nursery here. The staff make us feel so welcome each morning - even the staff who aren't in my son's room know who he is and say hello. The handovers they do at the end of each day are great, I find out about everything. How much he's eaten from each of his meals,
his nap times, his toilet times and about all of the lovely activities he has joined in on that day. They also do tapestry online journals so it's really easy to keep up with what he has been doing and what milestones he is reaching. My son loves going in each morning and it always so excited to see the lovely ladies that work with him.

My daughter is very happy and at home here, I can work happily knowing she is safe and happy. Most days she doesn't want to come home. She loves all her ladies and friends and they love her.
She is learning all the time and is ahead of where she should be for her age.

Hi, I am Michelle Macey, the Manager of Hopscotch, Gosport. I've been with Hopscotch since 2022 when I joined the Fareham Nursery as Deputy Manager to cover Maternity leave.


I am committed to supporting my team in providing outstanding care to your children, and their own professional development through in-house training or formal studies.


With an established, caring and committed team, I enjoy my job every single day. I get to see babies take their first steps through to tearful goodbyes to our children joining the school, knowing that we have supported each individual child in developing to their full potential.


Hopscotch Gosport was our very first nursery, and it's the one that is close to all of our hearts. The building is a historic Naval guards house that Freya converted in 2005, and we've maintained a deep connection to many Navy families in the area over the years. With a child-centred and spacious layout, we can ensure that children enjoy and achieve in all areas of learning. Our outdoor environments are welcoming and engaging and offer ample opportunities for children to express their independence and creative skills.


The layout of the nursery allows for total free flow from indoor to outdoor areas with each of our playrooms having direct access to the outdoor environment. This allows our dedicated childcare team to follow and enhance children’s interests and, in turn, means that children are engaged in their play and learning.


My team and I are here to support you and your family every step of the way from the first settling-in sessions, weaning, potty training and on to school. As a mother, I know first-hand how important it is to be supported through the early years journey our children take.
