Oh my god, I am blown away at the wonderful Mother’s Day afternoon tea you arranged with all the staff for the children & all the mummies.
What an absolutely beautiful treat to be greeted with & so very thoughtful. Thank you so much.
My little boy loved that I could share some lunch that he had made
(he even told me he had made a cheese sandwich on brown bread) & also told me he did lots of mixing for his ‘cakes’ (scones). My boy told me he helped spread the jam & cream for me & poured us both some apple juice, followed by cheers of our mugs together.
Honestly, thank you so much for this lovely sentimental moment to share with my little man.
I truly loved the little handmade gifts that were made for me too. Each is unique, thoughtful & very cute.
I cannot fault this nursery whatsoever. I will be sad when my son leaves as I’ll miss the daily chats with the staff & hearing how even the staff are my boy's friends. So wonderful!
Thank you.

My daughter has been with this nursery from the age of 2 full-time.
The nursery manager is outstanding and all the practitioners too. Even before Girls & Boys took over and they were quite often having short staffing problems, they always still went over and beyond to make sure all the children were
safe and cared for.
My daughter has learnt so much and is so ready for starting school and it's all because of all the girls there. She is very forward and clever, and it's all because of the hard work they put in. The nursery is always finding ways to try and bring families closer together by doing the little things like a Mother's Day afternoon tea, where the children made sandwiches and scones (teaching them life skills, which is a big thumbs up from me).
I could go on and on with how amazing this nursery really is.
I will be sad for my daughter to be leaving them all in September.
Thank you all of you, you are the best.

Absolute brilliant nursery, I couldn't recommend them enough the staff are very friendly and caring. My daughter loves going to school she's learnt so much since attending. They always have plenty of activities to do and loads of outside space and games. They are also very flexible for times, lovely
little nursery. I'll be sending my next toddler there too!

My twin sons currently attend this nursery and have done for just over a year now, I can honestly say they have gone above and beyond for my boys including swapping sessions more than once to accommodate them, having great patience and acquiring new equipment to help him as well as his key worker giving
him daily one to one extra time, putting in place additional interventions for my special educational need (SEN) twin as well as making the application for his Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP), to which he now has ready for when he starts school in September. Both my twins have thrived and become more independent which has given me confidence for when they start school. All the staff are kind and caring and my boys love them! They absolutely love going and always enjoy their day which speaks volumes!

My daughter started attending in September 2023 and it has been amazing for her confidence and development. Previously a very shy child who didn’t want to interact with others she is now thriving and talks positively about her teachers and friends at home and has gained many new skills. The nursery
has a great outside area, plenty of toys and a variety of activities to keep the children busy. My daughter is excited on nursery days and tells us about all the fun she had at home time. The staff are approachable and helpful and happy to talk if you have any worries or concerns which always puts our mind at rest. I feel content that my daughter is happy and safe whilst in their care, the nursery setting is well presented and safe. It’s clear to see that they put a lot of thought into the children and families often planning occasions for us to attend and be involved, we feel we made a great choice sending our child here and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nursery school.

My son's old nursery closed and I was anxious about him having to start again in a new setting. I have to say I needn't have worried! He has been there since September last year and he settled in really well. The staff have been amazing with him. He has special educational needs (SEN) and they have
gone above and beyond to support him during his time in the setting. He has regular sessions with their Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) who has worked wonders with him, and his key worker works with him to help support him during his sessions ensuring he has opportunities to join in with all activities on offer. The manager and deputy know him well and help both myself and my son with ongoing support with his needs and when dealing with other professionals. I cannot thank them all enough for all their hard work

I placed my son here and after a few months, it was clearly a mistake.
Staff were not confident in managing a child with SEN and the approach to managing behavior was very reactive rather than proactively developing strategies to support his needs.
His EHCP application was rejected due to a lack
of information. The application itself had to be started by myself as the nursery delayed for a long time. When I pushed through the application, the nursery's side was poorly written. It was clear that they did not understand my son or his needs.
When I asked for further support with his needs, experienced staff from the nursery told me that they 'did not know what to do' and I had to seek advice from other professionals myself.
The new nursery is 100% different. He is thriving. Most detailed EHCP application they have seen. I returned to collect something I had missed and his former keyworker said in conversation, I'd be angry too if I was his sibling; Tells you everything about attitude.

Reply from Kirsty Henwood, Admin Manager at Girls & Boys Nursery Sharps Copse

Hello, We are really sorry that you feel like this and that you and your child were not supported. However, I can assure you that staff went above and beyond for yourself and your child in order to support his SEN needs. His keyworker had an extremely close relationship with your son and it is heartbreaking for us that you feel the way that you do when we feel that we did everything we possibly could. Staff have great knowledge of how to complete an EHCP, sorry that you feel in this case that it did not happen the way it should. We are happy to learn that he has settled well in his new nursery and you are getting the support that you feel that we did not give. Again apologies that you feel this way. The review has been shown and discussed with the team in order to capture any learning opportunities the manager feels we may have missed.
Thank you for your feedback, it is appreciated.

I absolutely love this preschool/nursery, the staff are amazing. Children are well looked after and taught brilliantly, my son loves it there. It is clean and safe with plenty to do both indoors and outside. We will be sad to be leaving in July. Everybody there is always happy to help and get to know
all the children and families individually. I personally have had support from the staff. I cannot recommend highly enough. Keep up the good work.
Regards - a very happy mum.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.433)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.433) out of 10 for Girls & Boys Nursery Sharps Copse is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.500 for Girls & Boys Nursery Sharps Copse is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 80 Ratings = 4.5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.933 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Girls & Boys Nursery Sharps Copse is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 number of registered child places is 18. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 18 = 0.333

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
