Hopscotch Regents Park opened the doors to its spacious, detached Edwardian property in November 2020. Just to the west of Southampton Common, the nursery is minutes away from Southampton city centre, has good access to the M27, M271 and M3 Motorways and there is ample safe off-road parking for parents dropping off and picking up children. Situated on Regents Park Road, the nursery is right in the heart of Shirley, ideally located for easy access to Shirley’s local amenities and regular visits to Shirley’s many green spaces, or the local library.

Outdoor play is an important part of learning and the large gardens at Regents Park provide ample space and equipment for all age-groups to have fun, explore and learn to manage risk. The nursery team offers a variety of activities based on age and stage of development. Physical play is encouraged with bikes, cars, hoops and balls, and there is climbing equipment, and a playhouse in the garden to develop imaginative play. Sand and water play facilities help to develop their sensory experiences, while the diverse garden environment encourages engagement with nature and conversation about the different wildlife they find. There is wet weather gear available at the setting allowing use of the garden in all weather conditions.

Inside, the nursery offers large spacious rooms which allow continuous provision and free flow movement, and they work hard to ensure that all children are engaged with purposeful play so that each and every one of them is supported to develop their full potential. To support this, they work in partnership with parents to ensure that the needs of all families are met. Hopscotch Day Nurseries have been providing exceptional childcare in the Gosport / Fareham area since 2005, and are very proud of the high standard of care they provide. Hopscotch Day Nursery Regents Park is a great nursery/pre-school with equally great, caring and all round amazing staff. The food is varied and sounds very nice, no complaints from my child. The nursery has an enclosed garden, which is great for playtime and well loved, as well as other activities and
the occasional walk to the local area. Five stars for me, I feel my child is perfectly safe and well occupied throughout the day. My child’s speech and understanding have also picked up.

There is little I can say about this kindergarten my child is eager to go see the kids and educators. If a child willingly goes to kindergarten, I have no doubt that kindergarten is good. It was hard as a mother in the early days to think about how he was doing, how the educators interacted with him,
how he interacted with the children. As the educators talk to him, because he is Lithuanian. Are you talking? There were a lot of questions for me about him and anxiety but unnecessarily. The child quickly adapted to the environment. When we go to pick him up from kindergarten he doesn't want to leave. With tears in the beginning, it was difficult taking him. Educators always talk about how he behaves, how he was behaving in a similar way. There’s really nothing wrong I can say about this nursery.

Amazing staff and care about our daughter's needs and development. Staff are always friendly and helpful and let us know what she has done that day. Would recommend this place to anyone looking at nurseries for their child.

Overall, my experience of the nursery has been very good. My daughter has been going there since Aug 21 and is almost 3. She has developed very well and enjoys it there. Staff are very friendly and their care for the children is obvious. Unfortunately, I have not been inside the nursery due to COVID
but I hope to be able to look around soon. Therefore my review is really based on such aspects as communication with/from the staff both face to face at the door and over Tapestry, rather than the facilities there. I really do not have complaints but just some areas I think could improve are: tea time - this is very early and my daughter is always hungry around 7 pm so I need to give her a full meal rather than just a light supper. This pushes her to bedtime later. If tea time was an hour later at 4.30-5 then I could just give her something light at 7 pm. The garden looks quite small now compared to the larger, more natural one that was there when she started. Aside from these, I’m very happy.

I cannot fault the girls in the toddler room for the care, love and attention they have given my son. He wasn’t talking before he started, and after just two weeks, he was fully settled and non-stop talking. He asks for the nursery when he’s not there, and he loves all the adults. He even asks for adults
from other rooms! The manager has been nothing but helpful, and I think she’s the most wonderful manager! He is very well looked after, and I wish he could stay there forever!

We recently moved our daughter to Hopscotch Regents Park as she didn’t seem very happy in a childminder setting. We were so nervous about the transition in case it wasn’t the right choice and worried that she would find it really unsettling. We needn’t have worried at all!
The entire process has been
so smooth. We have been blown away by how quickly our daughter has settled and that she has been excited to attend and very happy at the end of the days.
Communication has been excellent and all our queries were answered so swiftly when we were making the decision to enrol our daughter.
It doesn’t matter which member of staff opens the door, we are always met with such a warm and friendly welcome that has put us all at ease and everyone has been so positive and caring towards our daughter. We are very impressed and so glad we made the move to Hopscotch!

We had to find a nursery space at short notice as I returned to work from maternity leave, which was a really stressful time. We have been so lucky to join Hopscotch Day Nursery Regents Park when they were in a period of growth and could take our daughter on. Both management and key workers have gone
so far in helping us transition into a full time nursery routine, taking away a lot of our stress and creating a really happy place for our little girl. They've done especially well given the pandemic and have made our daughter who had separation anxiety, due to Covid-19 restrictions, really comfortable and well socialised. She has developed a great bond with her key worker and we always feel in the know about her progress and routines. It's also amazing to see how she is constantly stimulated, learning, and being assessed according to Earl Years Foundation Stage.

My name is Becky, I am originally from Lincolnshire and relocated to Southampton where I met my husband.

I have been working in childcare for over 20 years. I have gained my Early Years Professional Status as well as my BA in Childhood studies whilst I have been living in Southampton.

I have managed a few other settings across Southampton and Hampshire and have been a nursery manager for over 11 years.

I am lucky to have my own son, Ezra, who is our IVF miracle and will be attending Hopscotch with me too. I also have 2 cats, Chips & Daisy, who I am sure you will hear about including how their names link to Disney!

When I am not looking after Ezra, the cats or working I love to read, go for walks and watch films.

I have worked for Hopscotch for the past 2 years and worked in early years for over 15 years gaining lots of experience and developing my knowledge during this time. I am very passionate about sharing stories and my love of caring for animals. You may often hear me burst into song during the day as I love to communicate with the children through music.


I am a mummy to a child with additional needs and understand the support needed for the whole family and the importance of supporting children in individual ways.
