Grasshoppers Day Nursery is a service in St Albans that is dedicated to the highest standards of care for babies and toddlers, and prides itself on the warm and welcoming atmosphere. They have also obtained their Green flag for Eco-Schools.

Grasshoppers has excellent play areas and secluded gardens, together with a great range of resources to suit all age ranges, the nursery provides a happy, social environment where every child is treated as an individual. Children’s days are packed full of activities designed in line with EYFS principles and implemented by highly trained and knowledgeable staff.

Open from 7.30am to 6.30pm, Grasshoppers offers an all-inclusive package to maximise the convenience to parents, which includes formula milk, nappies, nappy cream, baby wipes, sun cream, and well-balanced meals throughout the day. Grasshoppers provide visits in the local community, visitors to the nursery such as African dance workshops and sporting sessions and cooking experiences for the children to take part in, self-service to promote independence and regular updates on their online learning journey platform to keep parents included in their development.

Grasshoppers Day Nursery also currently offer the extracurricular activity of Yoga Mites on a Wednesday between 2:30pm and 3pm for their Preschool room.

My daughter settled in quickly, due to the fantastic staff. The range of activities are brilliant. We feel that she has developed really well since joining the nursery.

The staff at Grasshoppers are amazing. My son is always so excited to go to nursery and is full of excitement and energy when he gets home. The staff have helped him settle in very quickly with their care and attention. The activities they do are very well suited to my son's needs and he obviously really
enjoys everything they do. He eats and sleeps well there and is very happy and content. The weekly emails are excellent and provide actual practical activities and ideas to carry out at home to support the activities taking place at the nursery. Excellent communication - thank you!

Overall I am very happy with the nursery. My child is looked after really well and she formed some good relationships with the children and adults. Staff are very friendly and approachable. My child is very attached to her key worker and on some days that my child is very is doing, her worker is always
(smiley day). This makes my child very upset and if this could be changed, that would be great.

I thought Grasshoppers Day Nursery looked wonderful when we came to open day and it has been just that. We are so happy with the care that our two girls get here. The staff are so welcoming and kind and do lovely activities with the children. There's great communications between staff and parents especially
in the younger rooms. I also like the way the nursery has fun days which the whole family are invited to. Thank you to everyone who works here.

The staff at Grasshoppers have always been warm, welcoming and completely professional. They seem to genuinely care about the children at the nursery and do as much as they can to put your mind at rest if you're concerned about anything. Most recently, they played an integral part in helping my one
year old to adjust to life at full time nursery, and they certainly didn't seem to mind me calling then several times a day when my one year old first started.

Staff at very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I'm incredibly impressed with the great level of care and attention each child is provided. Staff provide support not only to kid but each parent. It makes you feel at ease and comfortable to leave your child.
Our daughter is happy, confident and became
more independent. She is always busy learning, creating and exploring something new. This is a professional nursery with professional approach to all kids.

Grasshoppers is a lovely nursery with a real home from home feel. As a first time mum returning to work the staff have gone out of their way to help with the transition and my daughter has settled well. There is a real feeling of positivity and fun about the nursery and the staff all seem to be incredibly
engaged and passionate about what they do. It's a very caring environment and all members of staff know every child across all of the rooms. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursery and would like to thank Grasshoppers for the excellent service they provide. We are lucky to have found you!

I am a parent of three children, all of whom are at grasshoppers Nursery in St Albans. My children are extremely happy there and I am very pleased with the care they receive. The staff are excellent and provide a very individual and personal interaction with each child. I recommend this nursery to every

Claire is the Manager of Grasshoppers Day Nursery in St Albans and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the Early Years sector for 22 years. Claire has numerous qualifications, including an NNEB Level 3 & Level 5 in Leadership, and Early Years Management.


What is your favourite feature of Grasshoppers?
The nursery has a very welcoming homely feel, and the rooms have been designed and furnished to meet the children's developmental needs. We have a large preschool room and lovely garden areas.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
I am really impressed with the team's partnership with parents and the relationships they form with them.
