Little Nightingales provides a warm, welcoming, 'home from home', caring environment where all children feel happy, secure and relaxed and can't wait to come in each day.

The nursery is lucky enough to be within walking distance of the River Colne, and Little Nightingales have great fun feeding the ducks at the same time as learning about, interacting with and experiencing nature.

Staff at Little Nightingales recognise, respect and enjoy the individual personalities of all children from the youngest to the eldest and believe in giving them space as well as a challenging environment to help them develop and grow.

Their aim is to help each child learn to be strong and confident within a secure and social setting.

The staff at Little Nightingales are extremely helpful and approachable and my son has developed so much in their care. They have a great system that parents can use to watch children's development.
They have a really varied food plan for children and they are always encouraged to try new things.
There
is a real family feel at the nursery which makes it much more comfortable for parents.

My child has been going to the nursery for nearly 2 years now and the amount he has learnt in this time is quite staggering. Being with the other children his own age and even older has helped his development 10 fold.

The staff are amazing with him as well. They love him and he loves them just as

much. He has a milk intolerance and the nursery has been so good with that. Making sure they have the correct foods and milk for him as well. We requested that the nursery only allow him to sleep for an hour a day and they did that for us as well. They do fundraising days throughout the year as well which gets the parents and children involved. I would recommend this nursery to anyone.

I was so nervous about sending my first child to nursery and wanted to make sure I chose the right one. I have always liked the homely look of Little Nightingales and had heard good things about it. When I went to look round, I fell in love with the place and the staff. It really is a home from home
environment and all of the children looked so happy and at ease in their care. My daughter enjoyed her first visit and after that I had already decided not to look anywhere else as I knew that Nightingales was the place for her. The days are always varied and my daughter is always sufficiently worn out when I collect her! They do so many different activities and the children are constantly entertained. The food is all freshly prepared by a chef on site and it is healthy, varied and tasty! The sleeping facilities are brilliant and the toys are fun, educational & come in abundance! I am looking forward to my daughters journey from the nest (baby room) all the way to pre school.

A great nursery, managed by lovely staff who really care about the children, giving a genuine home from home feel. I have been really happy with my son's care, and will not hesitate to send my baby there when I return to work.

Little Nightingales really is home away from home. The manager and her wonderful staff have worked alongside us to help our little one settle in so well. They're always at the end of a phone call to talk about anything and it really is an open door place where parents and children are welcomed with
a smile every day. They look after all the kids so well and do a great job getting to know all the little ones and their quirky little ways!

My daughter has been attending little nightingales since she was 10 months old. She is now almost 4 and continues to thrive. The staff at the nursery are amazing with the children - I honestly can't praise them enough. The nursery also has a chef on the premises and my daughter often tells me how she
loves the food he makes!

I would wholeheartedly recommend little nightingales to anyone looking for a nursery in the area - my daughter's only going to be there for another 8 months and I know we're both going to miss it!

Wonderful nursery. My eldest attended (he's now 6) and my youngest is currently there.

Both boys joined at the age of one and I can honestly say I have never worried about them once in the care of the staff at little nightingales.

They are so well cared for and both are thriving academically

due to the start they have been give there.
The boys come home excited and cannot wait to go back after the weekend.

Lovely, comfortable environment and a great range of activities from French, to PE to dancing and singing.

The food is great too, all home cooking and overall the nursery is managed incredibly well.
I cannot recommend them highly enough.

This is a small family run nursery and that really shows (in a positive way). Although not a large facility there are lots of activities and the staff go the extra mile with trips out, parties, visits from firemen etc. The owner and her daughters are lovely and really care about the children.

I cannot recommend Little Nightingales highly enough. My daughter started at 7 months and we have always felt comfortable leaving her with the staff in the knowledge that they value and care for her. Now at the age of three and a half, she has a real love of learning which has been fostered and nurtured
by her pre-school teachers. The nursery follows clear routines but show flexibility for each individual child's needs. My daughter loves the food which is all prepared and cooked on the premises. My child has grown into a confident and happy child which Little Nightingales has played a significant part in.

Little Nightingales is a fabulous warm and caring nursery. Both my kids have been going since they were 8 months old and love it there. The staff seem to genuinely care about the children and the level of teaching/learning is high, offering a great foundation for the transition into school. The food
is made fresh on the premises and they are very generous with what they offer the kids ie frequent snacks etc. Activities are varied, for example in pre-school, they do gardening club, PE, even French lessons every other week. They recently opened a new baby unit which is fantastic. It's bright, clean, has great facilities and my daughter is very comfortable there (she sleeps far better there than at home and I don't think she's the only one!). At Little Nightingales, they are flexible with requests and do the little extra things for example include nappies in the cost (not all nurseries do this), give presents to all the kids at Christmas, take the kids out on day trips to the park etc etc. I would not hesitate in recommending Little Nightingales and in fact would actively encourage everyone in the vicinity to send their children there!

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.034)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.034) out of 10 for Little Nightingales Day Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.867 for Little Nightingales Day Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (73 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.867

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.167 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Nightingales Day Nursery is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 number of registered child places is 15. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 15 = 0.467

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
