Both my son and daughter went to Busy Bees nursery at St. Albans hospital. I was very happy with the way the staff were with my children, always on hand if I had any questions and were always polite. I would highly recommend to everyone wanting a relaxed, friendly, happy and educational environment
for their children.

All the staff are very lovely and friendly, my son loves the nursery and the staff too. The nursery is very supportive in every way and will help you with anything you need to know. My son loves the food at nursery and the nursery is a very good clean building.

I am happy with the care and education my son receives at the setting.
The staff and children's relationships is a clear positive bond; and due to it being a fairly small nursery this extends beyond just the key person or immediate room staff, there is a familiarity and friendliness between everyone.
My
son has made good progress in his development under the nurturing of the nursery. I particularly like the enhancements that Preschool provide, such as 'Letter of the Week' and Chatterboxes; which provide introductions to more academic subjects and skills (in preparation for school) whilst still ensuring it is kept fun and playful. I have already seen a big impact this has had on my son's enthusiasm to approach these subjects and willingness to learn.

Busy Bees at St Albans City Hospital is an excellent nursery. The staff are very friendly and dedicated to supporting you and your child throughout the nursery years. The days are filled with activities to develop your child and our daughter comes home happy and excited to tell me all about her day.
They have excellent controls in place to ensure the safety and security of the children and have an in-house chef who produces freshly cooked, nutritious meals each day. We have been with the nursery for two years now and our daughter is excelling in all developmental skills. I would highly recommend this nursery.

I have now started to write this review several times and simply can't put into words how great the nursery is and above all how fantastic the staff are. As a parent, we are privy to many other parents experiences with childcare and we feel very fortunate that our children have experienced this nursery.
The staff genuinely care about the children and are well looked after at all times. You would be hard pressed to find an organisation with this level of commitment and passion for what they do.
We would have no hesitation in recommending the manager and the team to anyone and indeed have.

This nursery has a wonderful dedicated team who create a warm and nurturing environment. The nursery is well managed with good parent relations, the children are treated as individuals and known incredibly well by all staff. Happy and thriving children being cared for in a safe environment is all a
parent can ask for.

Both our children have attended this nursery so we have known them for over 6 years and we have been so happy with the care they provided. Our daughter is now in the preschool room and is thriving. She loves going to nursery and the staff work tirelessly to support the children's development and provide
fun and stimulating activities and opportunities! A particular recent highlight, was the trip to the local market to buy fruit to make a Smoothie! From our experience of our older child, the nursery has prepared him (right from the beginning) to support his development and social skills which enabled an incredibly smooth transition to school. We have always found the staff to be caring and engaged and there seems to be a very low turnover so we have built up solid relationships with them over the years! They go above and beyond organising regular fundraising events for chosen charities which are great to model to the children. Will be very sad when the time comes to say goodbye!

I have two children: one 'graduated' from this nursery in the summer and is now at school, while the other, aged nearly two, comes here full-time.

The staff are terrific, and knew both my children very well indeed; they look after them with loving care and with discipline.

I think I've only come

to appreciate just how good the place is now that my daughter is at school: she has adapted extremely well to the transfer, and Busy Bees really helped with this in preparing her intellectually, emotionally and in terms of behavioural expectations for school, as well as equipping her with confidence. She knows the importance of sharing and taking turns (neither of which are her strong point).

It's a brilliant nursery.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.553)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.553) out of 10 for Busy Bees St Albans City Hospital is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.969 for Busy Bees St Albans City Hospital is calculated as follows: ( (93 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.969

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.584 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Busy Bees St Albans City Hospital is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 number of registered child places is 10.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.784

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
