An inspiring and nurturing nursery at the University of Surrey.

Bright Horizons Guildford Nursery and Preschool provide childcare for families in and around Guildford as well as for staff, faculty and students of the University of Surrey.

The nursery can be located just off Richard Meyjes Road with parent parking for drop off and pickups.

Newly refurbished and extended, the nursery has four main rooms, all with access to the large, all-weather outdoor space. All children can access the secure, well-resourced space and enjoy the resources and activities available to them.

The children are prepared to transition to school through its unique Ready for School Programme, which includes Bright Horizons bespoke Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians programmes.

Throughout the year, the nursery holds various events to encourage staff, parents and children to socialise.

These include events such as Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Picnic, Christmas Lunch and a visit from Santa. Stay and Play events are held regularly during the year.

The nursery has been awarded an Ofsted rating of ‘good’ for its commitment to high quality childcare and education (February 2019).

Deciding to put our little boy into nursery was difficult and we were naturally anxious about how he would cope in the new environment. We needn't have worried at all; he loves it and has strong relationships with the staff. The team are wonderful and genuinely care about the children in their care.
They always have time to tell us about our son's day and the updates on the app mean that we can see what he is up to during the day. I cannot recommend Bright Horizons enough.

We were so anxious taking our daughter to the nursery after her initial 1.5 years spent home with mother/grandparents. Thanks to the support of the wonderful staff at Bright Horizons, she settled in really well and now, a year on, going to nursery is one of our daughter's favourite things! The facilities
are great and most importantly, we trust the staff. They seem like real experts at what they do and I feel confident every time we drop her off that she will learn new things and have an amazing day. Thank you to all the staff at Bright Horizons, Guildford, for their great work with our babies!

An excellent nursery with the children being the main priority! Staff go the extra mile to ensure that my son settled in when starting and that continued with my son moving to older rooms. All staff know about your child and not just your child’s key worker, ensuring that they thrive in the nursery

Our two-and-a-half-year-old loves going to nursery here. She loves the staff there and is always excited to go. The team looking after her, do a great job and support her development. I also particularly like all the activities they set up and do with the children. Our daughter is always bringing something
home that she has made. Lovely, clean environment, home-cooked food and a fun outdoor play area when the sun is shining. She has made lots of friends there.

A fantastic Team that really do their best. Good updates via the app and lovely interaction with staff. For a non purpose built building, they do amazing with what they have. Parking and University interaction could be better and not cheap. But would recommend for the area.

My son has been at the nursery for over a year now and we can clearly see the positive effect it has on his confidence, communication and motor skills. He is excited to arrive in the morning, really enjoys the activities on offer and has started to develop friendships. I really appreciate the personal
attention each child gets and the reports we get on my son's development. The music classes fast became a favourite!
Bright Horizons staff have supported us in monitoring my son's health, along with developing dietary needs. The standard of the meals is excellent.
We've been happy with the app and how it's used to share pictures of what's been going on through the day.
Although I'm not the best at keeping up with what's going on, we are sent regular information about events and theme days with plenty of time to manage our plans for them.

The personalized care provided by the team is fantastic. My son loves going to nursery and comes back every day with new knowledge. I feel extremely confident leaving my child and a bit jealous of all the activities they are providing.
The nursery also proposes many activities so that parents get
involved and meet.

Excellent nursery, the little one loves it, and he learns so much there, more than at home! The staff is amazing, they have really close connection to the children and are always a great help with any problems we are facing. I'm particularly impressed by the activities they organise with real animals
- observing hatching chicks, holding real snakes and spiders, or just digging for wiggly worms in the garden. Thank you!

The key workers at the nursery are exemplary. They are extremely caring and attentive to the children and support their development and learning through a great assortment of activities. What I love about this nursery the most is their commitment to making sure the kids are well and looked after. I love that both staff and management are approachable, that we are greeted in the morning with a smile, that the staff know ins and outs about my little one and that they take interest in
how he's feeling and doing. This individual approach enriches the care they deliver because then you know your child is not just a number in a spreadsheet that creates profit, but a real tiny human that is well looked after and liked by everyone.

My daughter went through the nursery from the age of 1 and left when she started school. She had an amazing time and it certainly set her up well for school as she is flourishing. My son currently attends the nursery and loves going in to see his friends and the people who look after him. He has an
amazing bond with his key worker and the staff at the nursery are great. So welcoming, a real family atmosphere. They are so helpful and nothing is too much bother. The activities the children do are wide ranging and things I wouldn’t think to do! And they love the food they have there. I certainly would have no issues recommending the nursery to anyone, it’s outstanding.

We are very pleased with the nursery. Our daughter started going there when she was 5 months old, three days per week and she adjusted very quickly. The staff are always taking good care of her and they organise many learning activities that engage over and the other kids. Our little one is always happy
when we drop her off and pick her up. The environment is always clean and the facilities are well-maintained. The management and the rest of the staff work hard and they do their best to maintain high standards. Overall, the nursery’s environment is excellent and it is highly recommended.

We had an amazing start to our time at Bright Horizons, Guildford. Our daughter is two and has been there for about five months. They made sure she was settled and learned her routines and needs quickly and she now absolutely loves it. December was lovely, there were so many holiday-themed activities,

I absolutely love this nursery. I couldn't think of a better place to put my son! He has incredible bonds with all staff. We always get a really warm and friendly greeting, also lovely handovers at the end of each day. Management is always willing to help with anything needed and are always so polite!
They always provide such exceptional care!

My son started nursery in August 2022. He joined the investigator's room, at the age of two years old. Since he was a covid baby, he hasn't had much socialising with other children and hasn't had any time away from his mummy. For me, the settling process was amazing. His key person really took the time
to find out his likes and dislikes, allergies and needs. She was kind, patient and gave me regular, honest updates. I can log into the app to see how his day is going. He now loves going to nursery and is learning so much. I love seeing the messy play he does there and the newly refurbished garden is amazing. It's massive and they go out twice a day at least!

Becka

Job Title: Nursery Manager

With over 18 years of experience in childcare, Becka began their career in 2000 after completing three years of study at Godalming College, earning a CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education and an NVQ Level 3.


Her career path includes six years at Active Learning Dorking and three wonderful years at Guildford University Nursery. For the past 12 years, she has been a dedicated member of the Bright Horizons team, initially starting as a Nursery Nurse in the baby room before being promoted to Baby Room Manager.


Driven by a passion for continuous learning, Becka pursued and completed a Foundation Degree in Early Years at Guildford College. This accomplishment paved the way for further growth, including promotions to Third in Charge, Deputy Manager, and eventually Nursery Manager at Starfish Nursery, Guildford in 2014.


Having always known they wanted to work with children, she continues to find joy in seeing children arrive with beaming smiles and witnessing their growth and learning each day.

I have worked in Bright Horizons now for 4 years and I am really enjoying my role. I currently work part-time, as I care for my son who will be 1 next year. I am really creative and enjoy creating enabling environments for all of the children. In my spare time, I enjoy days out with my husband and son and spending time with my extended family.
