University Nursery at Edwinstowe Close looks to provide a professional childcare service to employees of the University of Cambridge and have a limited number of spaces available for community families who are not working or studying at the University.

Edwinstowe offers full day care and part-time sessional care to children from three months to five years in four different age group based rooms.

An established staff team provides a wide range of activities, following the EYFS framework, which meet the needs of each individual child.

A wide range of age-appropriate resources both indoors and outside allows children plenty of opportunities to develop new skills. Supported by staff, the nursery environment is one where children of all ages can thrive.

We had both our children at Edwinstowe and they both loved it. The outdoor space is amazing, kids have plenty of place to run around, the indoor rooms are well presented with great toys perfect for their age and more importantly, the staff is just amazing! Definitely super recommended to any parent
who is looking for a nursery with caring, attentive, and professional staff.

I can't recommend Edwinstowe highly enough - they were excellent pre-Covid but have really gone above and beyond over the last 18 months to make the children feel safe and secure. They have great facilities - lots of outdoor space and the food is great (my kids eat far more adventurously there than
at home!). Every single member of staff we have come across has been warm and friendly and very good at their job. Their communication with parents is great - there is an app with regular updates and newsletters every week, and they are always responsive and helpful by phone and email whenever I have needed to get in touch. My oldest son transferred to Edwinstowe for his final year before school and quickly settled in. My youngest is leaving the preschool room this summer having started in the baby room and we will be really sad to say goodbye - I feel very lucky to have had our children there. Thank you Edwinstowe.

Edwinstowe Nursery provides excellent care. I know that my little one is in good hands for the day. She loves the Nursery so much and it is such a pleasure to see her smiling face when the Nursery staff come to pick her up in the morning. She grew up in confidence, learned a lot over the past few months
and I think she appreciates every single activity planned during the day. The food is also amazing, she has developed her taste for such a variety of food already and enjoys it. The nursery also adapted perfectly to her food allergy which is a massive relief for us as her parents. Edwinstowe Nursery has been our little bubble of joy during COVID time, they make it feel as normal as possible for children while giving a lot of information to parents, so we felt confident and safe. I can't thank them enough for the amazing work they are doing for the children.

It has been a wonderful nursery. My child does not speak proper English and required much more care when he started. I am so pleased to see that the team paid so much effort to improve his speaking/language/attitude/toilet etc. It has made a huge difference in a very short period. Also, the food is
very good and with a lot to offer. Also, they have a parents' app to record and share the child's development with the parent on a live basis. They also share the weekly menu and newsletter with the parents so they know what's going on.

This nursery goes above and beyond providing excellent care for my son and they have given him the most amazing experiences indoors and out. My son loves going to nursery and has created some lovely friendships and bonds with the staff, who are also very happy. Edwinstowe Close have shown their professionalism
throughout COVID and their communication around this matter to parents has been exceptional. We feel our son is safe and loved and couldn't be in a better environment. Edwinstowe Close also have a fantastic range of food on offer, which my son loves. He eats very well and has eaten dishes I wouldn't have thought of making at home. I would recommend this nursery to all parents, we are extremely happy with this nursery.

Our family couldn't be happier with Edwinstowe. Our 1-year-old is happy to go into daycare and is in a good mood when we pick her up. She seems to have a great time there and has a really good relationship with the carers. The facilities are great - lots of outdoor space, toys and play structures. Good

Our 3 children all attended University Nursery at Edwinstowe Close and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. We were very pleased with the bond that each child had with their key-worker and the level of care that they received. The staff did an excellent job at preparing the children for school and we were
sorry to say goodbye to them after 7 happy years of going there.

This is a time of very mixed feelings. My daughter will soon join the school of the “big girls and boys”, which is a very exciting moment for every kid. However, we are also closing an extremely important chapter in her life – nursery attendance: not of an ordinary nursery, but The Edwinstowe. The time
there was/has been simply brilliant and there are no words to describe how grateful we are for everything: the friendship, the guidance, the lessons, the smiles, and for providing such a happy environment to her and her friends. She remembers every single person who looked after her with great fondness. The chapter is formally closing, but not effectively ending. You’ve certainly contributed towards her development as an individual, which will be with her FOREVER. THANK YOU ALL!

My 20-month-old loves Edwinstowe Close. The staff helped him settle back in after the lockdown break really quickly and he now can’t wait to go in the mornings. The staff are caring and are always happy to help. The setting is lovely. I couldn’t recommend Edwinstowe Close more highly.

A wonderful nursery. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and our little one loves them. Very well managed and communication is prompt and helpful. In a beautiful setting in the centre of town. Cannot recommend this nursery highly enough.

I cannot recommend this nursery more highly; my son is incredibly happy there. He has attended the nursery for around one year and settled very quickly. He is very attached to his keyworker and the other members of staff.

My son has returned to Edwinstowe following a few months of lockdown at home, and I am so pleased that he has been able to go back. He's in the pre-school room and really missed the social interactions with staff and other children during the lockdown.
Since returning to Edwinstowe, I have noticed
such a change in him - he has massively improved in his independence and self-confidence. He has learnt a correct pencil hold, his phonics knowledge is improving daily, and he has such pride in himself and his achievements. I really feel that he is ready for school in September now. The Edwinstowe staff have done a fabulous job of preparing him for leaving nursery and moving on to school.
The staff at Edwinstowe are wonderful. They know my son very well as he has attended since he was around 20-months, and he's always happy to be there.
My son and I will really miss Edwinstowe when the time comes to leave!

Edwinstowe Close Nursery is an amazing place, I cannot imagine anywhere better for my children to stay when they are not with me. The staff is truly passionate and enthusiastic about their work and take very seriously every children's development, not only at the educational level but also personally.
After more than 4-years there, my daughter is leaving to go to school, and I cannot be more sure that she is ready to take this step, mainly thanks to all the staff who have carefully prepared all the children for this important transition. My son, who started a year ago, is also very happy there.
More generally, the nursery offers good quality and varied meals. The management is great, always very communicative. Every child's development is tracked through an online application shared with the parents where they post pictures and comments about their progress and activities.
In summary, an extraordinary place with extraordinary people.

Outstanding nursery: staff are all caring, kind and attentive; they know the children individually and tailor activities to foster their personal growth and development; fantastic meals the kids love; the nursery is always clean and well kept (even if clearly a busy play day!); always clear communication
from management - prompt replies to queries, proactively inform parents when changes are required and plan well in advance for these (eg end of year room moves). Their communication and handling during the COVID19 pandemic was outstanding - kept the continuity of staff despite reduced numbers; always clear communication; caring and mindful of how all the changes would affect the kids.

Our daughter started when she was seven months. We chose the nursery because the babies room was so calm and welcoming. Our daughter loves it here and I love the fact that she is comfortable there and seems to know everyone and everyone knows her by her name. The staff are caring and welcoming. I know
that my daughter is well cared for while I am at work which was important to me as I worried about going back to work and leaving her. There is good engagement with parents and management are good at listening and responding to feedback and answering questions. I hope our daughter will stay here through to preschool as it is a warm, welcoming, nurturing and engaging environment for children. Thoroughly deserving of its outstanding rating.

My son has attended this nursery since he was 8 months old. The nursery was just refurbished and the rooms were clean and very well decorated. The staff are professional, loving and caring. The management team works hard to provide excellent service. I have no negative comments. They really deserve
their 'outstanding' rate. My son couldn't wait to go to nursery every morning and I have peace of mind all day knowing he was in good hands. He is a wonderful 3.5-year-old boy now and I know the nursery contributed largely to that.

We had a tricky start with my daughter settling in as she initially really struggled with the separation, however, she has now flourished, and is learning so much from her carers in her room. They cherish her as an individual, noting many of her personal characteristics and celebrating all her achievements
alongside her parents.
Because of the small amount of children, she gets a lot of one to one time with her key worker, who uses my daughter's interests to further her development.

Fran is Manager of Edwinstowe Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early year's sector for over 23 years. Fran has a Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare and Education. Fran has worked at Childbase Partnership for 18 years.


What’s your favourite feature of your nursery?
I love how every room has its own garden and its quiet location in natural surroundings, which encourages a range of wildlife, despite being close to the city centre.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
How passionate they are in helping the children to reach their full potential, seeing how much fun they have in teaching the children every day, resulting in the children being excited and engaged in their learning.
