Spring Nursery – Wyton is a 78 place purpose-built setting offering full and part-time childcare for children aged 3months – 5years. The nursery is situated in a quiet residential area within the village of Wyton on the Hill, Cambridgeshire and serves the local community as well as Military Personnel. Staff at the nursery encourage all children to reach their full individual potential.

The staff take time to get to know the parents and the children ensuring their individual care and needs are met. The purpose-built childcare facility is all at ground level with disabled access into, and around the building.

There is a large fully enclosed garden giving the nursery their own outdoor space used extensively to explore the outside environment. The rooms are set out to encourage self-reliance with equipment easily accessible for all ages. An on-site kitchen provides home cooked meals and snacks for the children, catering for allergies, food intolerances and the weaning process for young children. Spring Nursery has 3 rooms: Baby Room, Toddler Room, and Preschool Room.

They offer funded places for 2, 3 and 4-year-olds between 15 and 30 hours. The nursery is open 51 weeks a year, closing only Christmas week and on Bank holidays.

Spring Nursery Wyton is a really good nursery and my boys enjoy going. The facilities provided are really good. The garden is huge, it has separate parts from preschool to nursery. The girls are amazing and have helped me a lot with potty training, especially with having two boys eleven months apart.

We have used Spring Nursery at Wyton since 2013, our youngest daughter is currently placed there. We have always found the staff to be brilliant with all of our children. They are keen to understand the requirements for each child and will accommodate anything that they can. The learning environment
is fantastic and the staff are always introducing new learning experiences. A personal favourite of late was the camping experience that was staged within the nursery grounds. I really like the idea of trying to introduce the children to as many nature-based activities as possible.
In short, the nursery and its staff feel more like an extension to our friends and family network as opposed to just being caregivers to our children. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursery and have to commend every member of staff for their hard work and dedication in running such a lovely nursery.

Both of my little ones have been going to Spring for the last 18 months and are now just over 2 and 3. They love going, are happy, settled and thoroughly enjoy the time they have there. The ladies are lovely, the meals are good and the kids are happy. Happy parents!

Our son attended this nursery from the age of 7 months until 15 months. From the beginning all of the staff at Spring Wyton were extremely helpful - it felt like one big family - and did their best for our active little boy. His welfare and that of the other children was always paramount. The staff
also took a genuine interest in the parents and were always welcoming. We will miss everyone there and would recommend it to anyone in the area.

For the last 8 years, I have had at least one child attending this nursery. These ladies have all contributed to bringing up my three boys as I’m a full time working mum. I honestly can’t thank them enough. It is such a homely nursery and I’ve always felt so happy and content having my children there,
even after my two eldest left for primary school, they still love coming back to see all the ladies. They have made a huge imprint on all of our lives. These ladies have become like family to the children and I. Not only have they been there for the children, but also for myself. I can not fault this nursery or the staff in any way and would highly recommend to anyone.
Thank you all so much for everything you have done for us all, I will be extremely sad to no longer have a child here after next week.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.527)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.527) out of 10 for Spring Nursery RAF Wyton is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.896 for Spring Nursery RAF Wyton is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.896

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.631 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Spring Nursery RAF Wyton is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 78 number of registered child places is 15.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.6 = 0.256

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hello, my name is Nicola.

I have been working in childcare since 2005 and I started in a nursery as a practitioner after having completed my BTEC National Diploma in Early Years. Whilst working, I continued my learning and development and undertook a BA in Early Childhood Studies. I then went on to complete Early Years Professional Status. I have worked my way up to a manager over the years, whilst taking some time out to have my children.

I enjoy playing music, having learnt Violin and Piano at school. I also enjoy going to National Trust Parks with my children at the weekend and watching them explore.
