The beautiful hdc Dartington Nursery in Totnes is nestled between Dartmoor and the South Devon coastline. All rooms within the nursery have a hygge-inspired decor, helping children to feel comfortable and secure in a home-from-home environment.

The baby areas are spacious and lead directly onto a private decking area, overlooking the garden which provides plenty of fresh air and free movement. This room is carefully structured, to allow for quiet spaces made for sleeping and relaxation, as well as suitable spaces and equipment to encourage messy play.

The Meadow Room is for children approaching 2 years old and is equipped with a large variety of resources and natural objects to encourage your child's curiosity. There is a large garden area, designed to promote outdoor play, and to encourage an active lifestyle where the children can take part in activities such as running around, cycling, and much more.

In the Forest Room, children will join as they near three years old. They will experience a mix of child-led and adult-led activities, encouraging a holistic approach to learning, whilst developing their knowledge on food and the environment. Promoting a healthy lifestyle at Dartington Nursery is incredibly important, so the team encourage spending time outdoors and provide children with the opportunity to grow their own vegetables in the large outdoor garden.

The beautiful Tree Tops room is the last stop before your child goes to Primary School. The daily activities are specially designed to get your child ready for a more independent life. The team focus on providing support to families and children before, during and after the transition to school takes place.

The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

hdc Dartington is a wonderful nursery setting and my son is incredibly happy there. The staff are friendly and fully engaged with my son’s welfare and development, right up to management level. My son has attended since he was eleven months and his transition from the baby room to the toddler room was
managed really positively. My son always comes home excited to tell me about what he has been up to. The range of activities is brilliant and the outdoor space is a real bonus. Lovely range of food provided and it always amazes me the things my son will eat there that he won’t eat at home!

I love hdc Dartington childcare, my son has been going there since he was sixteen months so has been in the baby, toddler and preschool room and I can’t fault anything. Due to the pandemic, he was off nursery from November to March. I was really worried about his return but both him and the staff have
been amazing. They let me stagger him back in and every day he comes home and tells me how much he loves nursery. Thank you to everyone there.

Amazing nursery, very welcoming and a great atmosphere for children to learn and grow. The outdoor area is amazing and the nursery is very well equipped with toys and activities to keep little minds busy. The menu is very well planned and very nutritious.

Lovely key workers in the baby room, my child found it easy to settle in and built a great relationship with their key worker. Unable to see anything other than the front due to Covid-19. The only frustration is the car park at pickup, which is difficult to rectify.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough. Our son joined at one years old and has been at hdc Dartington for sixteen months now and has thrived. The staff are so lovely and supportive, especially during the stress of Covid-19 and whilst my son underwent surgery for glue ear.

Our granddaughter has been attending the nursery for approx 9 months and she has thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The team are kind, caring, thoughtful and provide a wonderful range of activities, learning and friendships for all the children attending.
