Building Blocks at Kingstanding provides a happy and safe environment for all children to play and learn in and takes great care in providing high standards of childcare and education for those aged from three months to five years.

Set in a large detached building, the nursery provides ample space for children to experience a variety of activities and explore the many facilities.

At the rear of the nursery there is a secure garden area, as well as a separate baby garden, music zone and outdoor reading area. There is also climbing equipment, outdoor sand play and a large play house.

Building Blocks Nursery has a wide range of qualified and experienced staff who are all either trained to NNEB/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or are working towards the qualification. The nursery prides itself on the number of senior staff who have Level 5 and 6 qualifications and work well to lead a happy team.

A varied two week menu has been carefully planned to ensure a balanced, nutritious diet for all children and any special dietary requirements can be catered for. Nappies are included in the nursery fees.

Couldn't ask for a better nursery for my daughter. They have given her the extra support needed and helped with applying for extra support and help for us at nursery and also at home. They have helped with her eating and managing her day-to-day routine. The staff are lovely and very good at keeping
you in the loop with the day-to-day activities of your children at the nursery.

My son has been at Building Blocks Nursery from around 10 months old and is now just over 3 and has seen his journey go through Babies Room, to Tweenies to Preschool and he loves it there.
The staff throughout have been excellent in all rooms, they have always been so accommodating and the real sense
of care is visible throughout for all the children.
My son is a very expressive little fella and he thoroughly enjoys his days at nursery, he speaks very highly of the staff around him which, as a parent, is warming to know he is enjoying his time. My son has had emotional drop-offs along the way as most kids do but he thoroughly loves going.
The set-up for all rooms of his journey has helped him grow and we can't thank Building Blocks enough for their part in his development.
We highly recommend Building Blocks.

Our daughter has spent 2.5 years at Building Blocks Nursery, Kingstanding. She has had an amazing time and learned so much in the time she has been here. The staff have showed so much support to her in her time and we are so grateful to them for this. We wish them continued success in the future.

This has been a very good nursery for my child. He was a SEN child and they gave him lots of extra support with his speech and overall development. He has learnt so much from attending this nursery. He has become very independent and confident and is ready for school. This nursery is by far brilliant
and outstanding, which keeps giving and offering support and guidance all the time. Very well presented and demonstrated and very understanding.

My daughter goes to this nursery and at first she was a bit upset, but now she goes in, tired, but has a lovely day painting, drawing, playing with all the different toys and even baking. All the staff are lovely and communicate with you well. The manager is fantastic, helps you with anything.

Our daughter started August of this year but because of COVID19 and my partners hours being dropped it isn't sustainable for us to send our daughter here.....but in saying that our daughter was just turning 1 when she started and we have had many parents tell us "you will see a change and she will come
on bundles" and I can not thank the Owner and her staff because the first few days we have seen change and my god was it for the better. They change food every day, snacks are always different and she always comes home content. She has more than found her lungs ..Lol and she loves music and the songs they have taught her are unbelievable and she recognises them at home. The Deputy Manager is someone she really bonded with and found her to be a bit of a mother to her at the nursery and again me and my partner always asked her at home where is she and she would look around trying to find her. I could continue to write but have no room Lol but, the Deputy Manager, thank you for everything and looking after our daughter.

My son enjoys coming to nursery and he's made so many friends. The staff are very supportive and friendly. My son has had a few health problems but the support we've had from the nursery was amazing, we are so grateful as parents.

Staff are always welcoming and supportive. My daughter loves coming to nursery and is very fond of all the staff which she has good relationships with. It is always reported how my daughter has been throughout the day and what she has eaten and any concerns raised.

My child has come on really well since starting at Building Blocks. He has recently been out on the talk boost scheme which is really helping him. The staff are lovely and my son enjoys spending time here.

My son started here in September after I'd taken the decision to move him from another nursery where he was really struggling to settle in. The difference in him was almost instant, he has made some really great friends and tells me all the time how much he loves the nursery staff. It's a much more
personal welcoming experience than your standard preschool and you can tell the staff really enjoy their job. I feel as comfortable leaving him here as I do leaving him with a family member. The staff go above and beyond for the children's safety and enjoyment and I cannot thank them enough for how hard they work every day. We are extremely lucky to have found such an amazing nursery.

Very pleased overall. Staff are all nice and friendly and keep me up to date with my daughter's progress. Although she gets upset when I drop her off, she soon settles and is happy and full of smiles when I return to pick her up. Highly recommend.

TINA HART

Job Title: Managing Director

Joined: 2002

As the Managing Director, I work fulltime to oversee all three of the Building Blocks Nursery branches and work closely with the branch managers.


I have worked in private day care for over 28 years and feel passionately about ensuring the service we provide is of a high quality for all children and their families. I also feel strongly about ensuring our setting supports and develops the staff team to be the best practitioners they can be.


I have my NNEB diploma and a degree in early years childhood studies. I also have my level 5 management qualification and I am currently undertaking my NPQ in early years leadership.


Emma

Emma Lloyd

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Joined: 2018

Emma is one of our branch managers for the Kingstanding branch and has been in the manager's role for the last three years. She is a level 3 practitioner and is currently undertaking her NPQ in early years leadership.


Emma worked for Building Blocks for 11 years from 2006-2017 before exploring a new opportunity to work with children who had specific needs. She returned to Building Blocks in 2018 and quickly progressed into management which is a role in which she thrives.


Emma is also a strong advocate for the curiosity approach and she loves supporting her colleagues to provide the best learning opportunities for the children who she describes as the 'thinkers and doers' of the future.


Louise

Louise Jones

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Joined: 2016

Louise is one of our branch managers at the Kingstanding branch and has 20 years experience in the early years.


She joined our team as a deputy manager in 2016 and quickly worked her way up to nursery manager. Louise is a very practical manager and brings a lot of experience to our team.


Louise is a level 3 practitioner and has a real passion for staff and children's health and well-being.


Maria

Maria Bailey

Job Title: Early Years Practitioner

Joined: 2017

Maria is a qualified level 3 practitioner with over 30 years experience of working with children. She has a lot of experience in supporting children with special educational needs and children who have anxiety and she supports and reassures them wonderfully.


Maria works extremely hard to ensure she meets all of the children's needs and interests and provides many wonderful experiences for the children on a daily basis.


Vicki

Vicki Aston-Green

Job Title: Baby room leader

Joined: 2018

Vicki is a level 3 practitioner with over 20 years of experience in early years.


She joined the Building Blocks team in 2018 as an early years practitioner and was promoted to baby room leader in January 2023.


Vicki is passionate about her role in early years and works really hard to ensure that the children's needs are met and that the baby room is offering a 'home from home' environment.

Stacey Hansen

Job Title: Preschool room leader

Joined: 2022

Stacey is a qualified level 3 practitioner with over 10 years of experience in early years.


She is one of our newest members of the team and has been with us since 2022. She has excellent relationships with the children and their families.


Stacey is a confident and happy practitioner who enjoys watching children grow and develop.


Lizzie

Lizzie Skidmore

Job Title: Early Years Practitioner

Joined: 2020

Lizzie is a level 5 early years practitioner with a foundation degree in Early Years who joined our team as a newly qualified practitioner in 2020.


She is very calm and approachable and enjoys helping children learn and develop. Lizzie enjoys positive relationships with children and their families.
