Bright Horizons Milford Day Nursery and Preschool provides high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The nursery is set in a brightly refurbished large Victorian school surrounded by fields, farms and animals. The snug and nurturing baby room has a mixture of sensory and messy areas. The toddler room help children to develop their thought processes and imagination with an indoor slide and access to the outside area as they wish.

The spacious nursery room enhances all areas of child development and has direct, safe access to the outside area while the preschool room contains modern technology to prepare the children for school.

Their unique Healthy Hearts and Minds activities provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences using the innovative and well established Boogie Mites and myHappymind programmes.

An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

The nursery also takes part in outings to local places including the Shirehall sensory room, local libraries, farms and parks.

The nursery was rated 'Good' by Ofsted in September 2019.

My son is very well cared for and is very happy at Milford Day Nursery. The nursery staff are always welcoming, friendly and cheerful. Jamie has grown and developed very well and it is mainly down to the outstanding care he receives at Milford.

Milford Day Nursery is a lovely, friendly nursery. My son has been here for three and a half years and has been very happy. My daughter is here now too and is settled and enjoying her time here. I don't worry when I drop them off as I know they are well looked after and enjoy themselves.

Absolutely fantastic nursery. The best decision I made to put my son in the school. The girls are fantastic. I would definitely recommend to anyone. My son has learned so many things in such a short space of time. Love it!!

I have visited the nursery with my daughter and granddaughter who attends part-time. The first impression is one of an excellently run establishment with safeguarding at the heart of practice. All staff greeted us in a very friendly manner with one practitioner - taking the time to show us around.
I
was very impressed with the many and varied themed activities and all were very helpful. However, I would have liked to have seen more information (boards) regarding the EYFS, maybe some sample assessment books (fictional of course) to give parents an all round idea of the full picture.

Thank you for taking the time to review our nursery.


We are glad that you were made to feel welcome at our open day, however, I believe that our practitioner gave you a tour of the nursery and not a full show round. We would like to invite you along to another session, where our practitioners can give you our full show round, as if your grandchild would be starting at the nursery.
This includes the EYFS and how staff plan this around children's individual interests. When a child starts with us, they have an individual learning journal which is available to parents/grandparents on a daily basis to demonstrate the progress that each child is making. Our display boards are updated regularly with links to the EYFS with explanations about how children are learning, however, we welcome any suggestions for improvement.

I cannot say enough good things about this nursery. The staff are all fantastic, they genuinely care about the children and their knowledge regarding all aspects of child development is second to none. I was worried as a new mum about putting my son in nursery but it has been amazing for him, he has
come on leaps and bounds since he started at Milford Day Nursery. I wish I had put him in earlier. He is just so happy to be there each morning. The nursery has a real family feel, everyone speaks to you as you go in and they all know my son by name. It's just a fantastic environment.

I have worked at Milford since 2004 and I became manager in 2012. I love supporting, caring and working with our families to ensure we provide excellent childcare for their children. I have two children of my own so I am able to work closely with parents that find leaving their children hard and sympathize with the challenges this brings as a parent. My door is always open to everyone.

I have been a part of the team here at Milford for eight years now, and have fulfilled many different roles during this time. I have worked my way up from a nursery nurse to my current position of Deputy Manager, gaining lots of valuable experience along the way.
