Child 1st Bakewell was acquired in February 2017, and is based within a stunning Grade ll listed building nestled in the heart of the town of Bakewell in Derbyshire.

A range of child-led and adult-led approaches to learning and exploration are provided by an experienced and motivated staff team.

This welcoming provision is a safe 'home from home' for young children to develop and grow in confidence, playing and learning with their peers.

The chef creates a daily menu of tasty and delicious fresh meals. Any special dietary requirements are taken into account.

Child 1st is a great nursery for my little boy. He enjoys himself whilst he's there and the team take great care of him. Communication is great and very efficient. It's great to see observations on a regular basis to see how's he's developing. Great also to see activities planned each week for exploration
and developing independence.

Our daughter started nursery at Child 1st in December 2024. My husband and I have been overwhelmed by how caring and supportive the staff have been during what could have been a challenging milestone. Our daughter has settled in so well and we cannot thank the staff enough for the time, effort and dedication
shown.
Communication has been prompt and we love receiving the daily updates and weekly developmental observations via the app. The weekly topics and the daily tasks are very creative and are so engaging for the children.
It has been wonderful to see how our daughter's development has thrived since starting nursery.
I have also been impressed to hear about how varied and balanced the menu is.
I feel content dropping off my daughter in the morning as I know she is in good hands.

It was very daunting leaving our little one at nursery for the first time but after a few tearful drops off at the beginning, our little girl now loves to go to all of the lovely staff who greet her at the door. All the staff are so good with her and she comes back a happy (albeit a bit tired) girl
every day. We love to see all the updates on the app and see what she is getting up to.
Would highly recommend it, cannot fault the wonderful team here!

Our son started at this nursery back in May this year, and at the start he was very emotional and didn't want to attend nursery. The staff have been very patient with him and have given him the space to feel comfortable and gain confidence in a nursery setting. The room leader in his room has had a
really positive impact on him and he enjoys attending twice a week - the other staff in the room are also lovely and send us regular photos of the activities that they get up to.

Just want to thank you and all the staff for the last few year caring for my children! Prior to us changing their nursery, my child was often very upset on drop off making it very difficult for us to drop him off some days, we couldn't be happier with the setting and support both children have received.
He now enjoys coming to nursery and doesn't even look back now! We can tell how much they have both come on and how much happier they are at nursery, which for us as parents is the best feeling knowing they are safe, developing and well looked after.
All the staff are an absolute credit and are so helpful, you can tell that they treat the children they look after as if they are their own!
Thank you again for the fantastic work you all do.

My two year old has been attending this nursery since she was 11 months and she loves it. My daughter will come home saying her room leader's name and how much she likes her. She's always up to fun activities that are great for her development.

All the staff are extremely accommodating. They're so good with my son and since starting have aided him in his learning. He's coming on leaps and bounds because of them. The staff are so good at keeping parents up to date with their kids in the nursery. We get multiple pictures each day and detailed
notes of food intake, changings and naps. Cannot fault the team, they're great.

Amazing nursery!! Staff can never do enough to help and ensure my daughter is happy there. Both my kids attended Child 1st Bakewell nursery. My youngest has just moved up to the preschool room and her transition was really smooth. My eldest still talks of her happy times at nursery despite now being
at school. I love the updates on the app to see what my daughter is getting up to whilst I'm at work. Thank you for all that you do.

An absolutely wonderful nursery setting in short. My daughter has been attending since she was around a year old (she is now 20 months old) and her development shows this. My daughter has hip dysplasia so her walking was a little delayed but nursery helped build her confidence and progress with her
walking and now she runs around! Every aspect of my daughters development has come on leaps and bounds since attending nursery from walking and talking to being confident in a social environment. Baby room constantly keep me updated through the app so I never feel like I'm missing anything. The love my daughter has for all the staff members really does show how much time and effort they put into making bonds with the children and it's so nice to see. The food always sounds wonderful and from the looks of it my daughter very rarely refuses anything! My daughter loves baby yoga every Tuesday and all the activities that nursery do with her. By far one of the best nurseries around.

My little boy has only been going 5 weeks, and he's come on so much.
Better eating and drinking, using sippy cups properly now which he didn't do at home.
We can see he is learning to interact with others as he will get involved with other child now in his home life and he will use simple hand language.

Our son loves Child 1st Nursery, I have found his confidence, speech and interaction have progressed since attending. He has started to engage in conversation about the children he has played with as well as the activities he has been taking part in, to which is a vast variety. The staff are amazing
and offer encouragement in all the things he tries, from drinking out of a cup to taking part in games. He has also started to try different foods at home since starting which is good.

My child has gone to Child 1st Day Nursery Bakewell since he was approx. 9 months old. He is now 3 years old and about to go into the final room; the preschool. I have an older child who went to a different nursery so I have some experience to compare this nursery to. I cannot recommend Child 1st Bakewell
enough to anyone looking at a nursery for their child. The quality of care of the children here by the staff is fantastic. My child has just gone through the Toddler room and the staff there do such an amazing job! They really look after the children. They do so much with them and I get frequent updates through the app. At the end of Toddlers, I was given a lovely art book where every piece of art my child has done over the past year has been carefully placed into it. It is just another example of the higher level of quality care the nursery provides. My child went to nursery as a timid clingy baby and because of nursery is now a thriving happy confident boy. The staff are wonderful.

I can 1000% recommend Child 1st, Bakewell, both my children have had the best care imaginable during their time there. My eldest is leaving for school shortly and says he hopes school is as much fun as nursery! The staff are incredible, nothing is too much trouble. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them
to anyone!

Child 1st Bakewell has cared for both my children. My little girl is now at school and my little boy completed his last day today.
As I reflect on the years they have supported us, I write this review with a very full heart. The nursery and all the wonderful people who make it what it is are invaluable.
My children are thriving. I know I owe a great deal of that to the women who spent hours encouraging their development, learning their ways, and building unforgettable bonds.
I would like to share also my praise for the manager, who I believe is a true asset to the Child 1st Bakewell family and certainly to us as parents. Her selflessness and ever-giving nature are a large contributor to the safe and happy environment we place our children in.
Thank you everyone at Child 1st. You will not be forgotten.

Child 1st has been brilliant for our son. He started aged 11 months. The staff helped him settle in, encouraged him with his food, helped him nap and feel comfortable to explore new activities. He now really thrives on his time there! The staff are so friendly and caring and really seem to take pride
in looking after the little ones. I don't worry about him when he's there, which is saying something as a first time mum! They've supported his development in so many ways and have been very accommodating for us. The app is also great for seeing what he's been up to. Highly recommended nursery.

We cannot praise the nursery highly enough. Our younger grandchild is in toddlers and her elder sister ‘graduated’ in July 2023. We hope our new grandchild will be welcomed into the baby room in the not too distant future. The ladies who care for the little ones are so caring and our grandchildren absolutely
adore them and they all have the patience and the kindness to talk to us, the grandparents which we so appreciate. We were once in the park in Bakewell with one of our granddaughters who was about a year old when we saw the ladies from the nursery heading towards us with some of the little ones. The ladies made such a fuss of our granddaughter stopping to talk to her and to us. It was a magical encounter for us. There are not enough superlatives to explain how highly we think of the nursery. Thank you to you all. The children’s parents feel that they leave their children in very safe hands.
