Child 1st Bakewell was acquired in February 2017, and is based within a stunning Grade ll listed building nestled in the heart of the town of Bakewell in Derbyshire.

A range of child-led and adult-led approaches to learning and exploration are provided by an experienced and motivated staff team.

This welcoming provision is a safe 'home from home' for young children to develop and grow in confidence, playing and learning with their peers.

The chef creates a daily menu of tasty and delicious fresh meals. Any special dietary requirements are taken into account.

All the staff are wonderful at the nursery and my daughter can’t wait to go every week. The constant updates on the family app makes you feel like you really know what they are up to. The meals are varied and always sound delicious.

Child 1st ( Bakewell) is a lovely nursery! My little boy is always eager to go and is always welcomed by lovely staff. Everyone is so friendly and caring towards the children and nothing is ever too much to ask. They also send regular pictures and videos of your child which always brightens my day!
Would highly recommend this nursery.

Hi. Just to say how much it is appreciated what you do for the children in your care. As a former teacher, I do appreciate how difficult being in charge of children is, and right now, it must be difficult in the extreme. Highly recommend Child’s 1st Nursery. My daughter started when she was 10 months old and I have never looked back since she absolutely loves it!

This is a nursery with a warm and welcoming environment. My little girl initially struggled after lockdown to return to this type of setting and to leave me but very quickly she settled back in and had formed a wonderful bond with her key worker. She now looks forward to her nursery days and is almost
disappointed when she can’t go! The staff have all been so kind but are also great at bringing learning into the play. We can’t recommend it enough.

What a fabulous team, so much fun and passion in what they do. My son has developed hugely and loves his time at nursery with his friends and taking part in all the fun activities that are arranged.

As a mum of a child with complex allergies and a general shyness, the thought of sending my child to nursery and trusting someone else to provide the same care as I could was a very daunting prospect. However, the lovely ladies at Child 1st Bakewell attended extra training courses and went above and
beyond to ensure my daughter's needs were met. Choosing Child 1st Bakewell is the best decision I have made. My daughter has the best days playing with her friends at nursery and enjoys all of the extra activities the nursery lays on. The ladies that work at the nursery are second to none, they laugh and play with the children which has encouraged my daughter's personality to blossom, she has grown in confidence to a level I could have never imagined. They are also amazing if she gets a little upset or tired. They take the time out to sit and cuddle her with a story. They also email pictures and updates daily, meaning we never miss any important milestones.
I'd highly recommend Child 1st Bakewell!

Can’t praise the nursery enough! The manager and the team are amazing with my girls and always give them a warm welcome! The ladies in the toddler room have been amazing in helping my daughter settle into nursery and now she can’t wait to go in!

Child’s 1st (Bakewell) is a fantastic nursery. The staff are amazing, so friendly and welcoming! My son stopped going in March and has only just started up again, and they are really going above and beyond to help him settle back in as he is struggling! They give him lots of cuddles and reassurance
when he’s upset and it makes my mum guilt just slightly easier knowing he’s in such good hands!
They are also doing everything they can to keep our children safe by following Covid guidelines. As sad as it is that you have to leave your children at the door it is comforting to know every measure is in place to keep our little ones safe! I couldn’t recommend them enough!

I am absolutely impressed by the team in the baby room at first nursery! My little boy started with them in October, and as I expected he wasn’t very keen on leaving his mummy. I couldn’t have asked the staff to handle him better and they went out of their way to make him feel comfortable. Now, he pulls
to go and has no qualms about leaving me behind, and I couldn’t be happier, because all that shows to me is he is enjoying himself.

What a wonderful nursery with such a great, dedicated team. We had a number of concerns bringing our son back to a nursery environment following the national lockdown and were worried about how well he would settle.
It has taken a few weeks but he is really enjoying his time there, learning new things
and is always talking about his friends.
That is by no means thanks to the wonderful staff (that he is always talking about) and the time and effort they put in day by day.

I cannot recommend child 1st (Bakewell) enough. They are fantastic with my daughter, really friendly, flexible and great at communicating with us on a daily basis. The app with all the information on about activities and food is really helpful and makes getting information really easy. Fantastic team.

Absolutely fantastic service!!


All at the nursery have been great during lockdown - both I and my partner were key workers and Bakewell accommodated by increasing our daughters hours.
All the staff are smiley and friendly!
Always feel very happy leaving our little girl here and she loves it!!

This is my 3-year-olds second nursery and he absolutely loves this one. Since he has been attending he has developed at such a rate and his confidence has grown immensely. The staff are fabulous, happy, patient and caring. I particularly love that when you collect your child your given feedback of what

My daughter has been attending for over a year now and she's come on leaps and bounds. She has gained so much confidence and has become a lot more sociable. The children and staff are friendly. My daughter is mixed race and has settled in well with the other kids. We have had no issues with her settling
in. Also loving the new app service. It keeps us up to date and definitely makes my day when I'm at work and get an update of my daughter learning her numbers, or at forest school, or having a song and dance. I would highly recommend them.

I can't speak highly enough of Bakewell Child 1st Nursery. The staff are all lovely and it is a very nurturing environment for the children. They spend lots of time outside which I love. The managers are great and they have been amazing in the way they have responded to Coranavirus. I couldn't have

What a wonderful nursery, my little boy has been coming here since Oct 2017 and he absolutely loves it. The staff are so friendly and helpful and always have a 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude. His knowledge and learning surprises us every day and he’s made so many friends here. This nursery will
always be a very special place for us as it’s where we saw our baby grow into a perfect little boy.
