First Steps Nursery (New Mills) offers high-quality care and education where children are encouraged to develop to their full potential.

The staff are nursery's most valuable resource and as such are chosen very carefully. They all have a genuine love of children and are highly committed to the care, welfare and education of children.

They are passionate about children having the right start in life and have strong beliefs that children's emotional security forms the foundation for learning.

Staff are supported in their professional development, which is reflected in their high levels of qualification. All the staff are qualified in paediatric first aid and safeguarding. The nursery also has the gold standard for children with additional needs.

Staff work closely with parents to keep them up to date with their child's daily progress and nursery has an open door policy so parents are welcome at any time to come into the nursery.

The younger children access the sensory room twice a day whilst the older children walk to the sister nursery in Furness Vale for a forest session. The older children are also given the opportunity to attend the local swimming baths for lessons.

My child has been going here for over 3 years and is soon to be going to school. I've always felt he's being well looked after, having fun, learning, and safe. The older kids performed a Xmas play last year and we were all really proud to see how hard they'd worked. The start and finish times can be
built around your schedule, and they've always been there if I've needed to book an extra day. The kids are well fed with lots of varied and nice freshly cooked meals. We've been very happy here.

Excellent nursery. Every member of staff knows my child very well. Her allergies, her favourite things. Her sense of humour - everything. My little one comes home with a new word, skill, song, etc every week. She thrives there and most importantly I trust the staff as much as close family members.

My eldest went to First Steps Nursery and after moving house, we put my youngest in a different nursery. After a few months, we realised First Steps was worth the extra travel so now my youngest goes there too!

My child shined at this nursery and always talked highly of the staff at home, they worked with me brilliantly and I felt like I could go to them about any worry I had regarding him. He loved it and will greatly miss it.

First Steps Nursery (New Mills) is a fabulous nursery. All of the staff are enthusiastic and happy and make it obvious that they care about their work, the children and upholding First Steps values. They have created a warm, happy, safe and fun learning environment. I have always felt that both of my
children have benefitted massively from the positive relationships they have built whilst at First Steps, which has helped them to become confident, independent, kind, thoughtful and emotionally secure. Which is exactly why I have always felt good about leaving my children with them - they are in great hands.

First Steps is a fantastic nursery. My son has absolutely benefitted from going here. The staff are supportive and caring and encourage the children to express themselves through play. They encourage creativity and are well attuned to children's individual development in a way that allows for the teaching
of appropriate skills as well as having fun.

The most important thing to me is that my daughter is happy and she loves attending the nursery. Friendly staff, who have my child's wellbeing at heart. Love the swimming and forest school facilities. I feel at ease leaving my child here.

I send my two children to this nursery and they both absolutely love it! The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and highly experienced.
They have an excellent sensory room, which my youngest enjoys a lot, and they have an excellent play area outside, which my eldest enjoys.
The kitchen staff are incredibly
talented, producing healthy meals that the children enjoy.
I would highly recommend this nursery to others.
