Ashby Nursery School & Pre-school Academy was architecturally designed and purpose-built as a Children’s Day Nursery in 1996, having a simple philosophy of continually aiming to offer the highest levels of childcare for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.

One of the nursery’s more important features is its policy of only employing fully qualified nursery officers, who all hold a childcare qualification and also have a First Aid and Food Hygiene qualification alongside other professional qualifications.

The nursery also provides three balanced meals freshly prepared each day, including breakfast which is offered to all children arriving before 8.45am. They are members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, the National Day Nurseries Association and other childcare related associations.

It is a great responsibility to care for children, and therefore their aim is to offer the highest levels of nursery care they possibly can. The owners hope their Prospectus goes some way to illustrate this; however should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact.

An absolutely fantastic nursery, which is well managed with extremely caring and knowledgable staff who take the time and effort to get to know each child and their family. All of the staff are very friendly, welcoming, and go above and beyond to be flexible and accommodating. My son loves attending
this nursery and talks about the staff like family. He loves all the activities that take place, like going to Forest School or being able to colour and draw when he wants.

The staff here are the most caring, responsible, fun and supportive group you could possibly want when dropping your child off into someone else's care.
My eldest son (now 7 years) started here from 1 year old to before starting school and enjoyed every part of attending when my now 15-month-old was
ready to start nursery my eldest said 'he better be going to my old nursery!'. You can't get a better recommendation than that. It was fab for my mummy nerves leaving him with the same nursery teachers who looked after my eldest too.

My Son has been at the nursery for 3 years and been in each room of the nursery, staff in every room have been fantastic and I've always felt he was being looked after in a safe and happy environment.

My son absolutely loves going to this nursery. The staff are always caring and easy to talk to. They always have time to talk to you and nothing is ever too much trouble. They take a genuine interest in my son and his interests and always ensure that I know how he has been during the day. They take
into account my opinion and any suggestions regarding my son's learning and development. They make it possible to go to work with peace of mind that my son is happy and cared for to the best possible standard. The trips and events that the nursery have throughout the year, such as parents evening, make it even easier to talk to the staff and other parents as well.

I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough. My 4-year-old son has been attending from around 18 months and absolutely loves it. He has progressed so much and learns so much every day. All of the staff are wonderful, so attentive with the children and know each of them personally which is great.
The staff are also brilliant with parents, keeping us informed regularly and are always available to speak to if needed. We receive a hand over report at the end of the day about how their day has been and what they have been doing. They also do lots of activities including Kimbles, Forest School and trips out on the minibus. A big thank you to all of the staff - it will be a sad day when he leaves for school next year!

Lovely nursery with friendly staff. My little boy comes one day a week and always enjoys going into the toddler room where he’s welcomed and looked after well. They know him very well and are always keen to make sure there are activities out that he enjoys. He loves his nursery dinners and the types
of foods on option and the management staff are great and very approachable.

Both of my children go to this nursery and they love it. The staff there are caring and genuinely child focused. I couldn't wish for better people looking after my children.


They do such a range of activities that the kids are never bored, they learn so much without them even realising it.

My first impression of the nursery was how friendly and natural the staff were when we walked in for a viewing. Myself and my husband wanted somewhere that our son felt at home and wasn't in a strict environment and this is exactly what we found. Our son settled straight away. We had a brilliant talk
at every drop-off and collection and the girls went into such good detail of his day it was nice to know everything he'd been up too.
They followed our personal preferences with his appetite, with him being very fussy. He progressed so fast and has become such a wonderful polite little boy and we really appreciate Ashby nursery for this as he loved his time there.
Even at school he often talks about the nursery. Extra credit must go to the manager who is brilliant with parents and children. Our son's keyworkers over the years have been amazing they really took the time to get to know him and worked so well with him.

Kerry Nettel

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Joined: 2008

Kerry began working at Ashby Nursery School 15 years ago after completing her student placement there. She gained her foundation degree in Children’s and Young People’s Services (Early Years) and worked her way up to nursery manager. Kerry also has a Forest School qualification and loves being outdoors. Kerry encourages the team to adopt a hands-on approach, as she feels that this is the best way for children to learn.


In 2022, Kerry was awarded Nursery Practitioner of the Year at the NMT awards which was one of many highlights of her career so far.
