Children 1st @ Leicester is rated 'Outstanding in All Areas' by Ofsted (July 2018) and is located close to the city centre with easy access from the university, royal infirmary and local bus routes. The nursery has been refurbished throughout to offer bright, open areas for babies, toddlers, pre-school aged children, as well as those in after-school club.

The friendly, enthusiastic staff are fully trained and experienced to provide a stimulating learning environment for each child.

The nursery features a spacious garden designed to maximise the potential for outdoor play, with carefully chosen, age-specific equipment. All children are encouraged to choose their own activities both indoors and out to promote independent learning.

Children 1st Day Nurseries has been an award-winning, family-run childcare provider since 1988, and are an accredited training centre. The company is in the Top 3 in the UK for Ofsted Outstanding results according to the 2021 Nursery World Nursery Chains Report.

I just want to say a huge thanks to the nursery team. It had been 4 years since using the service with my son. My daughter settled in with ease at the age of 4, having never been in an early years setting before. The staff have been attentive and consistent in their efforts with my daughter and she

Both of my children attend this nursery, and I couldn't be happier with the care and education they receive. The staff is incredibly nurturing and professional. The curriculum is engaging, with a great balance of educational activities, play, and rest. Communication from the nursery is excellent; I
am always well informed about my children's progress and daily activities with regular pictures of them during stimulating activities. I highly recommend it to any parent looking for a trustworthy and enriching place for their little ones.

My son has been attending since October 2023. So far he seems to have settled in lovely, well staff are super friendly and if you have any issues or questions they are always there to communicate effectively.
Since my son has been attending I have noticed him blossom in his communication with not
only toddlers but adults in general, I am 100% satisfied with how he is progressing and hope to continue our relationship with Children 1st for years to come.

Honestly my son absolutely loves this nursery, he has not long started and already he loves it, the place is lovely the staff members are lovely. Fingers crossed my youngest will start in April I’m very happy I came across the nursery and chose here.

My son was the first to attend Children 1st and then his sister is also attending at the present moment. Recently I had the pleasure of attending a delightful nativity show at Children 1st, Breedon House Nursery and it was an absolute joy to watch. Our children performed with such enthusiasm and radiance. The effort and preparation by the nursery staff was evident in the seamless execution of the play.

My daughter started here at 9 months old back in January 2021. Prior to that, she had been at home with her mother and I throughout the COVID-19 lockdowns so our concerns around care and development were heightened. That being said, it's been almost two years and it's been such a fantastic journey with
Children 1st @ Leicester. I've been able to see my daughter develop through keyworker updates on the app, which are tied to development areas, in addition to the daily updates in her book. The staff have been phenomenal in helping us all to get settled, and talking through questions that we have had whenever my daughter got moved up to a new class. They were also keen to respect any dietary restrictions, which was appreciated. My daughter has built such a good relationship with the teams there, both on the administrative and keyworker sides, and it is assuring to us that we can drop her off in the mornings and know that she will be well taken care of.

My daughter started in June 23 - she was seven and a half months old, and I had not left her prior to starting nursery. She has settled so well, and we have had no concerns. She's happy to go in every morning and progressing amazingly!
The staff are friendly and helpful. The nursery has a nice environment.
All staff, even staff that don't work with my daughter, say hello and acknowledge her when we are in the building. We visited six nurseries, and we absolutely made the right choice. We love reading her diary and seeing what she has been up to during the week.

My child's been attending the nursery since last summer when he started in the baby room and then moved up to the next room this year. Since the beginning the standard of care from everyone across both rooms has been very high, he settled in really fast and he's already made friends and seems to genuinely
enjoy his time at nursery which puts my mind and heart at ease, knowing that he's in safe hands and having a good time. I've also noticed a difference in how much he's learning at nursery as he's continued to develop over time, it's also helped him become even more sociable and learn new skills. He absolutely loves the food at nursery, the rooms are always very clean and I feel like his carers have really gotten to know him and his preferences. I love the weekly updates that I get through the app and everyone is always very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend the Children's 1st Nursery to any prospective parents looking for a full-time nursery!

My child started here in 2020 and from my very first visit I knew it was the nursery that I would choose, all the staff are lovely friendly and welcoming and they personally get to know you and your children, it’s very clean and modern and the food is also really good cooked by the on-site chef (tried
it at Christmas fete and was really impressed). My child started as a baby and is now in early years and loves going to nursery she always comes home and tells me something new she has learnt or sings me a song. They keep you up to date with the cute little activities they do and post pictures which is really nice. My needy baby started in October last year and he also loves going to nursery I can’t get him to leave until he has gone over to every individual staff member and said goodbye. They are so accommodating and I can’t recommend them enough I go off to work reassured that my children are happy enjoying themselves and safe there is no better feeling.

My son joined in September 2022 when he was 9 months old. Since the first tour, we knew this was the place for him! Every single member of staff has been warm and welcoming, and they always go over and above for each child! We are greeted each morning with smiles from the staff and our son is always
excited to go. They have encouraged his personal development so much in such a short space of time, his confidence has come on leaps and bounds and his personality is shining through. All the staff take the time to genuinely get to know your child and you as parents, this is so reassuring as you know that the care you give your child is reciprocated at nursery. Even at the end of a long day of playing we are always greeted with the biggest smile on our son's face and all the staff are still smiling too! You can really see they enjoy and take pride in their work as it shows on all the children's faces each and every day. Thank you to each and everyone for everything you do for our family!

My daughter has been going to Children 1st @ Leicester Day Nursery, she absolutely loves it, the staff are always welcoming and actually care about your child. They really take their time chatting to parents. They always ask me how my daughter's been every time I drop her off and when I pick her up
they tell me everything that she's done which is so lovely, they even provide a book which states everything your child has been up to.
Me and my partner love this nursery and we're so glad our daughter is in good hands!

My son has been at nursery since he was 9 months old. He will be leaving Children 1st @ Leicester in September. It will be sad for both me and my son. The nursery staff here from day dot have gone above and beyond, even down to the cleaner, who has formed an incredible bond with my boy, I can see the
love between them whenever I collect him, letting him help her hoover. My son is on the Send register he has been supported and encouraged and understood by every member of staff. The manager/senco has been incredible along with all other members of staff that have supported, played, soothed, taught and loved my child. I can not thank, praise or recommend this nursery enough.

My son has been going to Children 1st @ Leicester since he was 8 months old. The change in him has been amazing! The staff really take care of him and teach him new things all the time, I feel at absolute ease when he is in the nursery. The staff are all so polite, very informative and always put the
children first. He has a relationship with all the staff in his room and they always keep up with the new things he does which shows they really pay attention! At Children 1st it's like your child has a family outside of the home. The staff are reassuring, the food options are amazing and the children are well taken care of. I have never had a bad feeling or felt uneasy and the staff always listen to my needs and they're always met in regards to my child and they give the best advice! Thank you for always taking care of my little one! We will always be grateful for making those early years enjoyable!

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Hello, my name is Danielle and I am the Nursery Manager here at Children 1st @ Leicester.
I began my journey in childcare in 2013 as an apprentice and have worked my way through each position with Children 1st. Having had the experience of each role within the nursery has given me the confidence and the breadth of experience to guide and support the staff where needed.
I love being the Nursery Manager as I am able to share my expertise and expectations with the staff alongside supporting parents when their little one first starts nursery and then progresses through each stage. We have currently undergone a beautiful refurbishment and look forward to sharing this with yourselves too!
