Children 1st @ Leicester is rated 'Outstanding in All Areas' by Ofsted (July 2018) and is located close to the city centre with easy access from the university, royal infirmary and local bus routes. The nursery has been refurbished throughout to offer bright, open areas for babies, toddlers, pre-school aged children, as well as those in after-school club.

The friendly, enthusiastic staff are fully trained and experienced to provide a stimulating learning environment for each child.

The nursery features a spacious garden designed to maximise the potential for outdoor play, with carefully chosen, age-specific equipment. All children are encouraged to choose their own activities both indoors and out to promote independent learning.

Children 1st Day Nurseries has been an award-winning, family-run childcare provider since 1988, and are an accredited training centre. The company is in the Top 3 in the UK for Ofsted Outstanding results according to the 2021 Nursery World Nursery Chains Report.

The nursery also offers funded places for eligible 2, 3 and 4-year-olds.

I am very pleased with this nursery, the staff, the conditions and the progress of my daughter. She seems happy when going to the nursery and more confident overall. Nice job and a lot of dedication and patience from the ladies there.

My daughter has been at this nursery for 9 months and she has come such a long way with her communication skills and general development. She adores her teachers who show her care and attention, they are all lovely, polite, professional and welcoming at all times including the management team.

My little boy has come on leaps and bounds since going to this nursery. He started here when he was 1.5 years old, and he is doing exceptional. Sometimes he will come out with things that he has learned at nursery whilst at home, which I am amazed at. He's more confident, and he loves attending. The
staff are great; they always inform me of any concerns, they provide comfort, and they really make me feel at peace knowing he is in capable hands. The educational side is brilliant. He gets homework, which we complete at home (he's 2 years 10 months currently), and they consider all cultures and religions. I would really recommend this nursery and the staff. When I pick my little one up, he is smiling from ear to ear, and he will talk to me about how much fun his day has been in the car and tell me all about his friends. The price may seem high, however, I feel that you get more than your money's worth! My child's needs are met, and he is such a happy little boy. Thank you, Children's 1st!

A great nursery with an amazing and cooperative staff. My daughter was so shy before going to the nursery but now her personality has changed positively with a remarkable improvement in her writing and reading skills of letters and numbers.

Children 1st @ Leicester Day Nursery is a great play day, they really take good care of my children and my children are learning a lot.
They are children friendly and very organized. My children enjoy the tea time and the food, which they keep saying until we get home.

I've sent two of my children here and all of the staff do an incredible job. My 3-year-old who is currently in early years is so settled and absolutely loves his days there. All of the different activities he does and the routines make us know that he will transition to school in September really well.

Deciding on the right daycare was a huge decision when our daughter was close to the age of 2. Our main concern was that she would be shown love and treated like one of their own and not get lost in the shuffle of a busy daycare. Structure, diet, discipline, learning and socialising was important as
well. Children’s 1st offered it all and more. We are so happy we chose them for our daughter. She spent 18 months with a wonderful family of caregivers and educators. We always felt that she was safe and happy in her environment. Thank you to all the staff that helped to raise our daughter to become a confident, social, fun-loving, caring little 4 year old. We love you.

Both of my children attend Children 1st nursery. My son is non-verbal autistic and they’re fantastic with him, he’s always so happy when he knows we’re going to nursery and jumps in excitement all the way there. He loves the teachers in his room, and the nursery have really succeeded in accommodating
his needs. My daughter hasn’t really had much experience around new people as she was born just before lockdowns started, she absolutely loves it and always has the best time.

My first child has now been at the nursery for three years and my youngest has been there for three months. Both of them absolutely love going to nursery and often my youngest cries when I pick her up! Communication between staff and parents is fantastic and any time I have had any worries or requests,
they have been seen to immediately. I recommend this nursery to all of my family and friends. Both of my children are confident, outgoing and socialize well and I have Children 1st Day Nursery to thank for this.

Such a lovely, clean, and well-equipped nursery for all stages of children's learning and development. My son very much enjoys his days here, and has been involved in so many different activities, which is brilliant for his development.
The meals are great, cooked fresh on-site, which my little one
seems to enjoy.
The staff are amazing, always a warm welcome each morning when we drop my son off, and a detailed report of how the little one's day went every time.
They keep me updated with photos/videos of my little one at nursery, and to see him having fun and building a bond with his teachers is really lovely. I honestly feel he is in safe hands at this nursery, surrounded by loving teachers.

My little boy started Children 1st @ Leicester when he was 9 months old and has just left and started school. Throughout his time at nursery, I was always safe in the knowledge that my son was well cared for and that all of his developmental needs were being met. As he progressed through the nursery
it was always clear to me that the staff work hard to ensure that the children feel welcomed, safe and happy. Partnership with parents was always encouraged, and I always felt that any issues I had were always dealt with by management in a positive, professional manner. My boy is now at school and watching him start this new journey as a happy and confident child lets me know that Children 1st was absolutely the best decision we made for him. Thank you to all of the staff over the years who have played a part in shaping my son’s life, you’re all wonderful.

My daughter currently attends this nursery. Since day 1 (January 2021) we have been very happy with the service we receive. She is happy when she walks in, has an amazing day with all the staff who look after her and leaves with a big smile on her face.
At the beginning, I called a couple of times
every day to see if she was settling in and the nursery teacher took her time to speak to me and did not rush me. Heard my concerns and kept me calm as well.
The managing team are a delight to speak to! They are super friendly and always have top-notch care in mind for the little ones.
My eldest attended this nursery a few years ago and since then their service has changed but only for the better! They have refurbed the place and it looks super clean and welcoming. I would not give them anything less than a first-class for the service they provide.

Our daughter couldn't be happier at Children 1st @ Leicester Day Nursery. She is a proper lockdown baby who had never been cared for by anyone other than myself and my husband before coming to nursery. She shines here and has grown so much since starting. The staff are wonderful with her and they know
her needs and her little personality so well. They too have been very supportive of me as it's hard leaving you're baby with anyone (especially after the year that's been). Our little girl is so keen to get in and see everyone and has developed socially in a way we could only have hoped for. Thank you to all who work with her and care for her.

Children 1st has been my first option for my small girl since she was 6 months old. The joy she shows when I am taking her to nursery tells me that she is cared for, loved and appreciated. And that is amazing for me, as an immigrant mum, to see how everybody inside of nursery is doing their best only
to make my kid feel welcome and loved without seeing any kind of differences.
I am very satisfied with all the services, the personnel is welcoming and warm and for every single need I had, it always has been someone who helped me straight away, guided me or answered any questions I had.
I will recommend the nursery to everyone that’s looking for a special place and space for their kid.

I had my daughters review with her keyworker and was very happy with all the support from her and all the members of staff involved to help me get support that I required for my daughter.
Super happy with this nursery they looked after my now 15 year old and when I had my daughter 11 years later I
didn't even look at any other places here was the only place I would send her too.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Hello, my name is Danielle and I am the Nursery Manager here at Children 1st @ Leicester.
I began my journey in childcare in 2013 as an apprentice and have worked my way through each position with Children 1st. Having had the experience of each role within the nursery has given me the confidence and the breadth of experience to guide and support the staff where needed.
I love being the Nursery Manager as I am able to share my expertise and expectations with the staff alongside supporting parents when their little one first starts nursery and then progresses through each stage. We have currently undergone a beautiful refurbishment and look forward to sharing this with yourselves too!
