The Lilliput Montessori group of nurseries began in 1994 in Anstey, with the conversion of the village Liberal Club.

In 2005, the building was extended to provide a baby unit for under-twos which has its own side entrance but is connected to the rest of the building on the inside.

The link through to the main building then joins with one of the rooms for two to three-year-olds, making the transition that much easier for children. There are two rooms for this age group.

The nursery's garden area has recently been redeveloped with a log cabin, climbing wall and slide surrounded by safety surfacing, a covered sandpit, and a shady reading/quiet area. There is a substantial forest school area, planting and growing planters, and a much-loved mud kitchen!

On the first floor, there is a large open plan area and two smaller rooms for the three and four-year-olds. This room has its own direct access down into the garden via a secure Fire Escape.

The ethos behind the nursery is based on Montessori principles, which extols the benefits of child-led play and learning.

In May 2019, the nursery became an employee-owned organisation, only the second nursery group to do this in the United Kingdom!

    We accept the Government Funding for all qualifying children aged 2 and 3 years old, and with effect from September 2024 for aged 9 months and over.

The staff ensure they build a good relationship with the children in their care. The staff are caring and are always pleased to greet my son into the nursery. Staff keep parents up to date with what their child has been up to during their time there. A daily diary is kept of what my child has eaten,
along with information about activities, sleep and toileting. This is communicated to me at every pickup time to ensure a smooth handover. My son is always offered balanced and healthy options for mealtimes. He creates lots of artwork and has taken part in lots of different themes over the year such as Diwali, fireworks, and Children in Need. Lots of photographs are taken and sent to us on the app. I agree with the good points that are made in this year's Ofsted report for the nursery/preschool. I would recommend Anstey Lilliput to others.

I can't recommend Lilliput enough. It is a fantastic place for children. My daughter loves going there. Every day is an adventure for her. She always wants to stay longer.
The staff is so amazing and friendly and always very helpful.
Highly recommended!

My son has spent almost two years at this nursery and has really enjoyed his time there. He settled in so easily due to how caring and friendly the staff are, and he has always felt safe and happy. We've always been well informed and have been impressed with the communication when we have had questions.
He has had key workers assigned to him but has developed relationships with all of the staff and feels comfortable with everyone there. We like the range of activities that are available, and we like the fact that he has so much choice and isn't made to do set activities; he learns through play and has become so confident. Show and tell sessions have given him lots of opportunities to become comfortable speaking in front of a big group, and his independence has increased with little things like getting his own breakfast in the morning. We definitely recommend this nursery as we feel that the children's needs are always catered for, and the staff are all so kind and caring.

Our son has just left the nursery to go to school in September. He absolutely loved the nursery and all of the staff. The two main things for me as a parent when rating the nursery are “is my child happy” and “do they make my life easier” which is extremely important as we are both full time working
parents and for both things they were fantastic. Our next child will definitely be going here when it comes round to it. Highly recommended.

Lilliput Anstey is a lovely nursery. The staff can’t do enough to welcome and settle your child(and you!), they are very patient, extremely professional, approachable but above all they are excellent at safeguarding your child, they go above and beyond to set your mind at ease, responding to any query
with speed. My little one has had a very happy few years at Lilliput and has blossomed within their care. The staff are more like an extended family rather than just nursery practitioners, and can’t thank them enough for everything they have done during the past few years.

When my eldest daughter first arrived at the nursery she was a very shy young child and very mummy clingy. Since going to the nursery not only has she learnt so much such as how to use a knife and fork, and much more, my daughter has now become a very confident little 3-year-old and personally I put

Our son has settled into the baby room of the Nursery so well, thanks to the amazing staff. I feel so comfortable leaving him in their capable hands and I know he has a great time. The staff use Tapestry to keep me updated and show me how much fun he is having, and he is always smiling and playing when
I pick him up. Thank you so much for looking after him so well, just like you did with my daughter all those years ago!

I couldn’t be happier with the nursery. My daughter joined when she was 2.5 years old and now my 15 months old son too. I was worried with them being bilingual, but how they treat every child individually is amazing.
They teach the children to be independent, creative, they do lots of different activities
and spend lots of time playing outdoors. Staff is super nice, very professional and supportive and I cannot imagine any better care for my children, we trust the nursery 100%.
Would highly recommend to any parent.

My twins have been going here since they were eight months (they are now two years old). The nursery have been brilliant since day one. They offered free settling in sessions which were great to help all involved relax. They are very flexible, offering term time only places and the ability to swap days
if needed for medical appointments etc. They are very accommodating with sticking to home routines where possible.
My daughter is deaf and they have excellent in accommodating her, her needs and her extra equipment. They have extra training and have had numerous professionals in to help her develop and expand their expertise. They are always on hand if her needs change or have changed.
A brilliant nursery for both of my children where they have developed and flourished with the help of the staff and manager.

I love the fact our daughter goes to this nursery. The nursery is totally flexible, unlike some nurseries that just offer set days. There have been times I have needed to put my daughter in at short notice and it has never been any trouble. They are great with children with intolerances. The staff are
great and lovely with the children. My daughter has learnt so much whilst being in their care. I would recommend this nursery to everyone!

Excellent nursery, that offers flexibility to parents, which is ideal if you work shifts. They also offer the opportunity to attend forest school to the pre school room, which is a fantastic holistic learning opportunity.

My daughter loves going to nursery, the staff are great and understanding with her as she is very shy.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Joined: 2017

Hello, my name is Jade and I am the nursery manager here at Lilliput Anstey. I have worked at Lilliput since 2017 where I joined as an apprentice and have worked my way up to junior deputy, deputy manager and now nursery manager. I hold my level 3 in childcare and am currently completing my level 3 in team leader/supervisor which I am due to complete next month. I work 40 hours a week and follow an alternative shift pattern which considers both early and late.

I love my job as it allows me to work alongside all the children in the nursery, support the staff and get to know all of our lovely parents. A fun fact for you all is that my older sister Yasmin also works at the nursery where she is based in the Toddler and is their room leader.

In my spare time, I enjoy meeting up with my friends, visiting family and spending time with my partner. I also love exploring new places and going on holidays. I also love online shopping where I often add to my ongoing shoe and clothes collection.
