Quinton House Nursery & Preschool is a 'rising 3s' nursery which welcomes children from the term that they turn 3 years old. The happy and homely nursery setting is the first entry point into the Preparatory School, which was awarded 'Excellent in all areas' by ISI inspectors in February 2023. The Nursery has full access to all the school facilities, including 31 acres of parkland, sports hall and Forest School. The team have also been awarded the 'Millie's Mark' accreditation for paediatric first aid.

The well-equipped rooms are the focus for the teaching of early literacy, the Read, Write Inc. (RWI) phonics programme and numeracy, as well as the development of physical, social and creative skills. This includes the learning of 3 foreign languages across the year.

Children are provided with ample opportunity to free flow to the dedicated outdoor learning and play area and once a week nursery children attend Forest School within the grounds.

The nursery operates a key worker system which allows the team to build a close relationship with each child and their family. The nursery is a fully-integrated part of the school, giving children the opportunity to benefit from the extensive range of facilities and extra-curricular activities on offer, including ballet and yoga.

I'm really pleased with how much my son has learnt in only six months of being in nursery. He's been learning phonics which is something he wasn't doing at his old setting. He's also learning French! Which is brilliant at age 4. The teachers have been excellent. He is really happy going there every
day!

My child joined Quinton House Nursery in November 2023. The admissions team
were so helpful, and friendly when arranging a first visit to the nursery. The staff have been excellent from day one, giving so much care to the children in a fun, clean, and beautiful setting. My child has so much fun each
day and even though was a little quieter when joined, has settled very well. I highly recommend this nursery, it has been an absolute joy.

Quinton House is an exceptional learning environment for Early Years. The space, resources and facilities are vast, high quality and encourage an excitement to learn. The staff are simply superb! Nurturing and caring, yet deeply invested in academic initiatives and progress. My son is flourishing at
Quinton which is great, but most importantly - he absolutely loves it. He's excited to go every day and talks about it lots at home. I can't fault it; it's exceptional in every way.

I have to say that our experience with Quinton House nursery was fantastic, and would highly recommend it to anyone considering their child attending. My son attended from January 2022 until April 2023, and would have proceeded into reception had we not sadly relocated.
My son initially found it difficult
to settle in the first few weeks having not been used to spending time away from myself, but the lovely staff were very patient and welcoming and he quickly settled in, looking forward to every day and even asking on weekends if he could go to nursery!
The care is second to none and the facilities are great, not to mention the food/nutrition standard is excellent. My son really thrived at Quinton House and we still miss this lovely school! 5* in every respect.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.021)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.021) out of 10 for Quinton House Nursery & Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.979 for Quinton House Nursery & Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (47 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.979

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.042 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Quinton House Nursery & Preschool is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 number of registered child places is 6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.667

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Head of EYFS and Key Stage 1

Having completed a degree in Early Childhood Studies and a PGCE in Primary Education, I joined Quinton House School as Head of Early Years in 2013. I work closely with the Nursery team to ensure the children in our setting have the best start to their education journey. As an Early Years teacher I enjoy planning activities which enable me to bring the children’s learning to life. I am particularly interested in developing early reading and writing opportunities through play and supporting children to recreate their experiences through small world and role play activities.

Each week I work with the Nursery children to develop their fine motor skills. During our Happy Hands lessons children complete a range of activities to strengthen the muscles in their fingers and hands to develop their dexterity including an effective pencil grip.

In 2017 I took on the additional role of Head of Key Stage 1. This allows me to oversea the education of the children aged 3-7years and ensure a smooth transition through these important years of early education.
