Child First Moulton Nursery is a private daycare nursery situated in a beautiful Georgian lodge within 3 acres of land and forest. The nursery is conveniently located for both local residents and commuters alike, being within 10 minutes of Northampton town centre and directly adjacent to Moulton Park Business Park.

The nursery cares for children aged 3 months to 5 years and is open 8:00 am - 6:00 pm Monday to Friday.

This homely building is hidden away from the main roads and equipped to support an extensive range of learning opportunities, while children can also explore a wonderful outdoor play area.

Children are encouraged to take risks, develop their confidence and self-esteem and explore their natural surroundings.

The Nursery offers a range of extra-curricular activities which include, yoga sessions, weekly visits with their local care home residents, forest school sessions with a fully qualified level 3 forest school practitioner, outdoor sleeping and eating experiences, access to a lending library, gardening skills with a level 2 qualified allotment and community gardener, and access to an artist in residence and art studio sessions.

The children also take part in art exhibitions within the local community.

Child First Moulton were finalists at the 2023 NMT awards for the community nursery of the year award.

This is an excellent nursery. The staff have really helped my daughter settle in and so she loves going to nursery. She is looking forward to pre-school here too and the transition has been great. The outside space is brilliant and my daughter loves being out in all of the different spaces engaging
in many different activities. The staff are very supportive and make time to really fill you in on your child's day. This is a lovely setting which we are very happy with.

My husband and I have been so impressed with how everyone at the nursery has cared for our son. He took a long time to settle in and required a lot of cuddles, patience and reassurance and we would like to say thank you so much to all the staff that have looked after him so well. It definitely made
me more relaxed leaving him and returning back to work after maternity leave! The outdoor space is incredible and the range of activities available to the children is really great!

My daughter attended from January 2014 until August 2017. We have been very impressed throughout her whole time at Child First. It has been a wonderful place for her to grow and develop. She has been really happy there, even from the initial settling in sessions. We have found the staff to be very supportive
and willing to listen to any concerns about our daughter. We had regular feedback from the staff. Tapestry has been introduced more recently and we have enjoyed this form of feedback. The outdoor space is fantastic and has given her so many opportunities. There is a lot of creativity in the activities that the children do. They have done great work in preparing for the transition for school. It's well worth the money.

Over the last 10 years, both my children have attended Child First Moulton with my youngest finishing in August 2017 - they both attended from the age of 6 months. it's a fantastic nursery and both my children have enjoyed their time there - its a fab setting and having the outdoor space and the forest
school has been fantastic - the staff always give the kids the option to be outside, whatever the weather, playing, making things and generally enjoying being out in the fresh air. More recently my little one has learnt some Spanish and in preschool has learnt lots of things which will set him in good stead for school. The staff are excellent - welcoming, friendly, active and the kids have grown quite attached to them. As a parent, I have always received lots of feedback on what the kids have done, learned, eaten etc. Tapestry provides a great opportunity to see pictures of them and how they are developing through play. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Childfirst to other parents.

Child First has a very high level of qualified and knowledgeable staff who show a consistent level of amazing practice and demonstrate this on a daily basis. My child has been here since she was 9 months old and she is now 2. My child has developed so well and has become such a confident, outgoing little
girl and has taken part in fantastic activities that have kept her love for her nursery growing.


Child First is a setting that your child will 100% benefit from and has so much to offer. Their putting the child first philosophy and following the child's interest, has been able to shine through my girl and she comes home with so many new things she has learnt.


Highly recommended.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the staff and also management at Child First for everything they have done for my children. They have both thoroughly enjoyed their time there for a number of reasons, mostly to do with the engaging and comforting staff who all clearly have a passion for
providing a safe and stimulating atmosphere to all children in their care and also take the time to get to know them individually.


The activities that my children have participated in over the past three years have kept them excited to come back every day. The staff are warm and welcoming to parents and offer outstanding feedback on collection to keep us involved in our children's learning and development. The management have also been extremely helpful anytime I've needed them, so I appreciate everything they've all done, they've had a huge impact on my children's early years and have helped shape them into the children they are today and for that, I can't thank them enough.

My daughter joined Child First Northampton in April 2017 from another setting and it was definitely the best decision that I have made. The setting, staff and overall environment of the nursery is wonderful. I have seen such a change in her confidence and independence since being at the nursery and
I feel that this is down to the free-flow nature of the nursery and the fact that she is able to choose what she would like to do.


The outside space available is amazing and the fact that the children spend most of their day out in the forest or the garden exploring is a huge part of what attracted me to the nursery. The staff are always friendly and really make my daughter feel at home here. I would 100% recommend this nursery to anyone.

Both my boys attend Child First, ages 2 and 4 and both absolutely love nursery days. They have been at Child First since they were 11 months old. All staff have been fantastic in making the boys feel happy and secure in their surroundings (and reassuring me). They do so many educational activities through
play, my 4-year-old has been learning Spanish. The forest and outdoor area is very special and makes for lots of imaginative play.
I would also like to point out that my youngest one had several food intolerances, all of which were catered for without a hitch. The staff are very clued up on allergies and intolerances.

My daughter attended Child First from September 2016 to July 2017 and she absolutely loved every minute of it. She created great bonds with the practitioners and other children and always had good things to say about them.
When I first visited child first I fell in love with the place especially the

Child First has been a second family for my daughter, she has the most amazing bond with the staff and they have helped to raise her, so I couldn't thank them enough!
The nursery is set in a house with strict entry system. Inside it's a real home from home, the use of stair gates for safety rather
than locked doors has enabled my daughter to get to know everyone!
They have free flow access to outside and they're able to go out in all weather.
I like that they follow your child's progress rather than an age-based system.

Have always managed to go above and beyond my expectations of a nursery for our little boy, 3years on he has grown into such a caring, bright & confident boy. I truly believe that is based on the experiences he has had from an early age. His desire to explore outside & be adventurous is thanks to forest
school it has been his favourite.
We will miss the brilliant staff and their personal yet informative approach to teaching. From the start they understood my little boy as an individual, he has had the most incredible journey throughout his early years and has some true heroes at the nursery that he has and always will look up to. The Spanish lessons have been the talk of many a conversation, my 4-year-old can say words and string sentences together. They make you feel so welcome and give you the confidence to know your little one is in the best hands. I will recommend Child First nursery and preschool to any prospective parents looking for a nursery that has 'a lot more than your average'.

My daughter joined Childfirst Moulton Aged 14 months. She has had the most incredible journey imaginable and steps on to primary school soon. The nursery is by far outstanding - keeping the core values of love and creative play. In her three year journey there has never been a day that she doesn't come
home in a really happy way with stories of her adventures. The staff are wonderful, informative and very in touch with the children and each of their individual needs/personalities.


I couldn't be grateful enough for the wonderful start my daughter has had in education. And the people that have assisted in creating the wonderful character that she is today.

Our son has attended Child First from 14 months old and we can honestly say that he has not only extremely enjoyed his time at the nursery, but has developed and advanced in to a beautiful caring boy. His desire to be outside is truly evident as he loves to be in the garden exploring and this is all
down to the wonderful forest school program the nursery introduces to the children.
The free flow approach has allowed our son to thrive and focus on activities he truly enjoys, which he always seems so excited to share with us at the end of each day. The facilities, inspirational staff and outdoor space have all attributed to preparing our son for his next steps in life.

My twins have been at Childfirst Moulton since September 2013 and received excellent care and support, especially in the last 18 months. My son has special needs and so regular liaison with his key-worker, nursery SENCO and Portage has been crucial and helped provide the support/strategies required
to help him progress in nursery and is now aiding his transition to school.
My opinion of any nursery is largely based on the attentiveness and care of my child's key-worker, some having been more responsive than others. However the superb nursery grounds and forest school have been much enjoyed by my children. I recommend Childfirst to anyone looking for an outdoor lively nursery with a supportive caring team of staff. We're sad to leave! The only negative is that there's no daily log book to record what my children had done and no parents evening to discuss progress. However, staff give brief feedback daily although time is limited at the start/end of each day when I appreciate they have other children to supervise.

Child First Northampton is a fabulous nursery and learning environment. My son has attended the Oaks pre-school since September 2015 and his personal development has been noticeable and is very positive and his confidence has increased immensely.
The staff are friendly, professional and competent
in their work.
My son loves the outdoors and the setting of the nursery is ideal with the woods. There is always the opportunity to play outdoors, climbing trees, hiding in the bushes and having lots of fun adventures.
I am pleased that my son has benefited from the academic year he has spent here, what a great fundamental start to education with such as variety of activities.
I highly recommend the nursery.

Child First is a nursery on the outskirts of Moulton Leys, it is in a magical setting that few can rival. The opportunities the land provides are endless, the children explore, build, play and even use different areas to nap outdoors in summer. The setting is unique and the staff are an asset, they
use each zone of land in different ways and engage the children in new and fresh activities. I have always felt my children have been safe at Child First whilst they have been lucky to experience outdoor learning every day if they've wanted.


I've had two children attend this nursery between 2013 and 2016 and I would make the same choice of nursery again. Each child is individually catered for whatever their needs, the teams are positive and work extremely hard to provide a continuity of care between home and the various stages of nursery. The age groups the children are split into are ideal and have prepared them well for school.
