Children 1st @ Newark is an award-winning childcare provider, having been rated as one of the Top 20 nurseries in the East Midlands by daynurseries.co.uk in May 2021. This award was based on their consistently high reviews from parents and guardians. It is situated very close to the A1 and A46, with good access to the town centre and train station.

The nursery has been refurbished throughout with designated areas for babies, toddlers, early years and children aged up to 12-years-old. It has a huge garden complete with fort, mud kitchen and woodland area for children to explore.

The children benefit from eating healthy food to help fuel the development of their young minds and bodies.

The nursery's friendly, enthusiastic staff are fully trained and very experienced. Child to staff ratios are lower than Ofsted requirements.

Children are encouraged to choose their own activity with a huge variety of options both indoors and outside in the garden.

The nursery offers funded places for eligible 2, 3 and 4-year-olds.

From our first visit, I knew this was the nursery for us! Every single member of staff cares about their job and the children. They are kind and attentive to all our child's needs and they know him as well as we do as his parents.
Dropping him off feels like leaving him with family. He loves being
there!
The facilities are amazing, the outdoor space is what initially attracted us to Children 1st @ Newark and we have not been disappointed!

My daughter absolutely loves her two days at nursery! She gets excited when I tell her she's going that day. I love it when I collect her and watch her playing, unaware that I'm there. As she is always having so much fun and doesn't stop telling me about her day on the way home. I also love how this
nursery feels like a family, and no matter who your child's key worker is, you get feedback and comments from a variety of staff members about little things, which goes a long way with me. I always feel very included in all goings on, and we only attend twice a week. I highly recommend this nursery.

Absolutely fabulous. Very switched-on manager and passionate staff in a beautiful setting. Always do their best to support and accommodate. A wide range of activities for children of all ages. Free play with a steady introduction of structure to prepare for primary education.

We have been really delighted with the care from all the staff at Children 1st @ Newark. They have really strived to help our little boy to feel at home and settled since he began in January. A lovely nursery with the best staff. Always feel confident leaving my daughter here and she is happy to stay. She gets wonderful home cooked meals that have encouraged her to try more foods at home too! The early years room is simply amazing with the best facilities!

My son has attended this nursery since he was a baby and I would never send him anywhere else. Me and my partner viewed every nursery in our area and this was the only one that not only ticked all the boxes but also exceeded expectations. Right from the get go we were greeted by lovely staff who took
so much interest in our son and his needs were always met. My son tries new healthy meals which he thoroughly enjoys. He plays all day without realising he is learning so much. He has made some lovely friends who are taught values such as caring, kindness, sharing, taking turns etc. The only thing I can say is it was the most expensive nursery in the area but I firmly believe you get what you pay for here and every penny is worth it. Going back to work after maternity leave was very hard as I had to trust someone to look after my child the same as I would, but you instantly feel at ease. This is the best place to get your child ready for school. I recommend it to any new parent!

Our daughter has attended Children 1st @ Newark Day Nursery since she was 7 months old. The staff at this nursery are amazing. We tried some sessions with her earlier than 7 months but she wasn't ready. The nursery manager was incredibly accommodating and understanding as we went through the process.
Since she joined she has been looked after like she is in a home from home. I feel 100% confident that she is safe, extremely well fed and well cared for, the staff are so attentive with the children and really help them with their development milestones at the right pace. The systems the nursery use are also fabulous, I can check in and see what she has eaten, how much and when she has been to sleep. If there are any concerns or if they need anything. It really is the best nursery and I can't imagine her developing as well as she has or being cared for like she is here anywhere else! The facilities are well maintained and well equipped, it is warm, fun and inviting.

Our son absolutely loves going to nursery here and the progress he has made amazes us on a weekly basis. The setting is absolutely incredible both inside and out with huge amounts of space that has been thoughtfully divided into different activity zones. Honestly a little bit jealous that he gets to
play there all day!
The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and caring. We get great communication from both the nursery regarding upcoming events/activities/weekly themes and from his key worker with individual updates regarding his progress and learning outcomes.
Overall, an outstanding nursery and we are very grateful that our son is so happy here.

I am so happy and impressed with Children 1st Day Nursery and the standard of care they give to my daughter and every other child that attends their setting. My daughter has attended two other nurseries previously and I have never seen her happier in a nursery setting and her development has come on
leaps and bounds since attending Children 1st. All the staff are amazing, very professional and approachable. Their communication with parents is always excellent.
It's lovely to see the bonds my daughter has made with all the staff in the early years room, especially one member of staff who she talks about every day! My daughter is always asking when she is next at nursery because the nursery team and children have become her second family and they make sure each day is fun and full of learning. I honestly can't thank them enough for the time, care and love they put into every single child in their care!

We have recently moved our baby and toddler here and are very happy with the care that they are given whilst at nursery. They come home clean, dry, well fed and, most importantly happy. We love reading the daily diaries to see what they have been up to - both in terms of learning and in terms of their
care during the day (meals/sleeps/changes)! The staff are lovely and friendly and obviously care deeply about the children that they look after. The nursery itself is set in fantastic grounds with lots of space and provision outdoors for learning and exploration, as well as beautiful, newly-refurbished rooms indoors with lots of lovely equipment for the children to use in their play.

I couldn't recommend Children 1st Day Nursery, Muskham Road enough.
My son absolutely loves attending nursery and never complains about having to go. He eats very well, has lots and lots of fun playing inside and outside, he's made lots of friends, not only with the other children but with the lovely
staff members too. He's also very well developed for his age which is largely down to the excellent learning and education provided here.

From the moment we looked round to now (nearly a year later), we have been welcomed by friendly, professional staff. My son is involved in a range of activities and experiences, from sitting on a tractor that visited the nursery, to baking, to celebrating current events. One of the main things that

Our son is, very simply, very happy here. He always looks forward to seeing his friends at nursery.
Staff are always approachable, friendly and caring. We have had some concerns over our child's speech development; the staff working with him have liaised with his speech therapist and have set aside
time to do extra one-to-one talking with him. He is coming along well and this is a product of all the input he gets at nursery as well as home.
We love the environment and the opportunities for outdoor activities. The early years floor is particularly special and we are delighted that our son thinks so too and is always wanting to sell us things in the shop or explain what the dinosaurs have been up to.
The managers and the team work tirelessly to bring fun, excitement and creativity into the children's lives. We are very grateful. Thank you.

My daughter has been at the nursery since the beginning of this year, and she is loving every minute! We feel that she is in great hands with caring, attentive and bright staff who provide fantastic individualised care and with whom our daughter has bonded quickly. The general environment in the nursery
is one of fun and learning, with all the various rooms of children engaged in activities which are great for their development and clearly enjoyable for them. The outdoor space is fantastic! The staff are incredibly understanding, personable and responsive, which is a massive relief to parents. It is wonderful to pick up a happy, clean and stimulated child from nursery each day!

My little one has been at this nursery since he was very little. The staff are amazing, and he settled in straight away. They always work with me around feeding and nap times (which used to change almost daily).
They are friendly, keep him engaged and busy, and he’s always excited to go.
The staff
are knowledgable about the children and what they need to do, and my little one is progressing so much just from being there regularly.
It’s a great nursery with loads of outdoor space and a lovely homely feel.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Joined: 2014

My name is Sophie Willis, I have been working for Children 1st since 2014. Starting as an apprentice, moving to a qualified nursery nurse, room leader Deputy Manager, and now Nursery Manager. I work at both nursery settings in Newark, which has provided me with a great deal of experience working with a variety of children and their families. I am currently completing my Level 4 with the company and I am excited to further develop my skills. I particularly enjoy mentoring our teams and guiding them with policies and procedures. I have a passion for developing sensory play for babies. You will often find me in the baby room having lots of cuddles.
