Over the Rainbow Day Nursery offers a friendly and stimulating environment where your child will be able to grow and learn. The friendly team of staff are dedicated to providing the best care for your child and can offer a wealth of experience and knowledge. The nursery setting has an open door policy for anyone wanting to pay a visit and the team would encourage anyone wanting to send their child to the nursery to come along at any time. They pride themselves in offering a wide range of extra optional activities which are held both on and off site, such as dancing lessons, swimming lessons (with a swim instructor) and gymnastics lessons. The team are devoted to ensuring your child has the best possible learning journey and experience during their time at Over the Rainbow Day Nursery.

Funding & Fees Guide for Over The Rainbow Day Nursery

  • £56.50 per day, £32.00 per half day, £258.50 full time.
    Funded sessions available to all children term time with private sessions non term.


    Funded days meal rates Full day £7.50, breakfast and dinner £4.50, Tea £3.00.
    Children may have pack lunches however, these are to be healthy to meet our healthy eating policy.


  • Over the Rainbow offers sibling discount to private paying families.
    Government funded sessions are also available for 2,3 & 4 year old children.

My son started Over The Rainbow Day Nursery at 12 months old and settled really well, all the staff are extremely attentive to his needs and know all of their children within the setting very well.
My son was a little delayed in some areas and with early intervention from nursery, he seems to be progressing
well.
All the staff I have come into contact with, are very caring and have each child’s best interests at heart.
The nursery has a smaller homely feel, which suits my son very well.
There is always a range of activities planned that all children can participate in. My child thrives better in smaller groups and this is catered for.
The garden areas are safe and very interactive for the children, my son loves this. The food choices are nutritious and varied and if my child has ever refused what was offered, an alternative has been given. I can’t recommend this nursery enough.

Amazing nursery, our child absolutely loves her days in and has come on so much which is a credit to the team at Over The Rainbow Day Nursery.
Always available to provide regular updates throughout the day and the care they give our child is so endearing.
Going the extra mile and bringing in princesses
such as Moana and Belle gives our little one memories to talk about for weeks.
Highly recommend.

Really lovely childcare setting. Staff are friendly and show genuine interest in well-being of children.
There are great activities for the children to get involved in, both as part of the care but also some additional paid-for activities.
Good communication with parents about what’s happening at
the nursery. They also provide helpful resources for activities to do at home with children, as well as information surrounding parenting and child development.

Over The Rainbow have the most amazing friendly staff. Our little boy is now in pre-school and had attended since being a baby. Our daughter is also due to start in September and we wouldn’t send her anywhere else.
The staff always keep us updated and always have our children’s best interest at heart.
The management are also fantastic and we always get a response to any query straight away. The activities which are available are great, our little boy goes to gymnastics and they regularly put on extra fun days or sessions like summer fairs, dressing up days, character visits etc.
Would definitely recommend Over The Rainbow to anyone who wanted a friendly down to earth nursery for their children.

Our child started with Over the Rainbow in January 2023, although initially she was hesitant to start it's now turned into her favourite days of the week. The staff at the facility get to know the children on a personal level and will go out of their way to help the children learn either by activities
inside or outside of the premises. Communication from the staff and managers is brilliant, they keep me informed with my child's developments and what is occurring at the nursery, this ranges from days out to special events inside. Overall an outstanding facility

A lovely nursery that has the best staff. Our princess is well looked after and there are lots of exciting activities that take place.

I have two children who currently attend the nursery. We started our journey in 2020, and even though we were in the pandemic, the staff at the nursery were amazing. Communication was excellent, and the handover with children was also great. The children get to experience lots of different things at
the nursery, such as trips, swimming, gymnastics and walks out around the town, and all year round, they put different days on for the children to experience different activities. All of the staff have been incredible, the transitions throughout the nursery into the different rooms have been incredible and been done when they have suited my children. They go above and beyond to ensure all needs to the children are met, and my children love going to nursery. Nothing has ever been too much, and even the office staff are really friendly and helpful. I couldn't recommend this nursery anymore. We will be really sad to leave.

Amazing nursery. My child has been attending for nearly a year now, and I feel like the staff all know him well, even though he only attends one day a week. He loves going there. When he first started, and he didn't settle initially, they supported us both through this, as for me, it was very difficult
leaving him. The communication is great via the app, and I love that we get lots of pictures throughout the day. The staff are all so lovely, and even though im forever mithering them with questions, they will give me time and answer them.

Absolutely amazing nursery.
My daughter attends every day and has an amazing time.
The staff are lovely and friendly, with lots of activities and stuff going on.
The app is great; you get to see everything your child’s up to.
I’ve had no issues in the 12 months she’s attended.

Over The Rainbow is a caring and loving environment for children. They put the effort into every child's needs, and you feel supported because of the extra steps they always take to go above and beyond. I currently have a four and a 2-year-old at the nursery, with the 2-year-old having selective mutism.
The steps they have taken to help my 2-year-old overcome his anxieties are fantastic, and I can honestly say I don't know what I would do without them. The staff are what makes this place special.

For the last 20 years, I have been the owner and Manager of a childcare setting in Nottingham. As part of this role, I have gained significant experience regarding the standards of care and education which are required within a nursery setting. As part of my own professional development, I have undertaken an Early Years Foundation Degree in Early Years Studies and am now a level 5 qualified person. My passion for childcare is one of the fundamental reasons that we decided to proceed with the new venture of becoming one of the new owners of Over the Rainbow Day Nursery in Ashton-in-Makerfield, which I am the nominated person for.

After becoming a mother I decided to embark on a new career in Early Years by becoming one of the new Owners and Directors at Over the Rainbow Day Nursery. This was very much the start of my journey and since then I have qualified as an Early Years Teacher so I am now a level 6 qualified person. Qualifying as an Early Years Teacher has proved invaluable to my understanding of early years care and education and to form my own pedagogical views.

Wendy Worden

Wendy has worked in early years across the Wigan borough for over 24 years from a trainee through to management. Along the way, Wendy has gained a vast experience of the operations and the importance of good quality childcare.


Wendy has a level 6 BA Honors in Leadership and Management within her early years, her NNEB level 3 and qualifications in paediatric first aid, food hygiene and safeguarding.


Safeguarding is paramount and Wendy has been recognised by Wigan Council as an advocate for other settings to support and manage Safeguarding concerns with other early years settings. Wendy initially opened Over the Rainbow Nursery in 2004 ( Previously known as Imagine Day Nursery) and developed the ethos of the setting and its team.


Wendy is a full-time manager and designated safeguarding lead and values her interactions daily with children of all ages.


Wendy is a mother of two girls which has given Wendy the empathy that parents experience when leaving children in the care of others and the small things that are important to a parent.


Victoria

Victoria Redman

Job Title: Deputy Manager & SENCO Lead

Joined: 2005

Vicky has worked at OTR formally Imagine Day Nursery.


She started her career as a college trainee at Imagine Day Nursery and continued full-time since qualifying.


During her time at OTR, Vicky has progressed from practitioner to deputy manager and has undergone numerous training around safeguarding, paediatric first aid, food hygiene and most recently SENCO award.


Vicky's passion is to work and support the team, parents and children with SEND. Vicky has vast experience in supporting and obtaining support through the council and other professionals for children and their families to enable them to access their early education.


Vicky has a wide range of experience from 0 - 5 years and has developed good relations with outside professionals and local schools in ensuring children transition into school at the age of 4.


Vicky has ELKLAN, ECAT and more recently WellComm training to support children's communication and language development.

Danielle Winstanley

Danielle has gained her level 2 and 3 qualifications in her early years along with her paediatric first aid, food hygiene and safeguarding. Danielle has been part of the team at the nursery for 14 years and has worked from a trainee up to a senior supervisor. She currently is our early years lead overseeing the education and routines of our preschool children.


Danielle brings many experiences to the team and community and enjoys interacting with our local care home with the children giving them aspects of British values and cultural capital this ensures children have gained vast life experiences. Within the nursery environment, she encourages and involves parents in their child's nursery journey and ensures quality learning and education in the preschool environment.


Danielle has most recently become the deputy SENCO of the setting and also has a vast array of training such as keys to communication, ELKLAN and WellComm.


Natalie

Natalie Littler

Job Title: Senior Practitioner

Joined: 2009

Natalie is level 4 qualified in early years along with her paediatric first aid, food hygiene and safeguarding. Natalie has been part of the team at the nursery for 16 years and has worked her way up to a senior supervisor and is currently our toddler room lead.


Natalie has lots of experience working with children with Special educational needs and over the years has used her knowledge and strategies to support children in helping them to make good progress throughout their early years.
