Treetops Nursery Bootle (formerly 1st Steps Day Nursery) was taken over in July 2022 with new owners. As part of the Bedford & Family Childcare Ltd., the nursery prides itself on offering quality day care for children from 0-5 years.

They have created a family run Day Nursery which has your child and your family at its heart.

Their core opening hours are 7.45am till 5.45pm offering year-round care. However, they are closed on Bank Holidays and between Christmas and the New Year period. In addition, they offer a Holiday Club for school-aged children (5-11 years) and an After-School Club – Woodpeckers- during term-time. Their aim is to follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework to provide a stimulating environment that challenges all children to reach their full potential.

They offer indoor and outdoor play spaces, both of which are accessed daily by all rooms across the nursery. They strive to provide a ‘home from home’ environment in which children feel safe and secure, and which encourages children to reach new milestones in their development.

The first five years of a child’s life lay the foundations of their future; this includes their well-being, their enjoyment for learning, building social skills and developing an interest in the world around them. With such an emphasis on this period, offering high-quality early years provision is essential if children are to fulfil their potential. The single most important factor in ensuring children receive this high-quality offer is the skill & ability of the early year workforce, i.e. the staff team.

The team consists of experienced nursery professionals, with a whole host of qualifications, skills and experience. The team is led and supported by leaders of learning, with access to extensive internal and external training opportunities to enable staff to build on their own professional development.

My daughter joined the Treetops Nursery family in February 2023. To say I was apprehensive was an understatement. The manager and the team have been fantastic, not just with my daughter but with me. My daughter loves to go to nursery, is always happy and has come on leaps and bounds. I could not be
happier with the care or environment provided. I know she is safe, happy and her needs are being met. Fantastic place, an amazing team and will forever sing their praises. Thank you Treetops family.

What can I say, my little boy started in around March 2023, I was so worried with him starting due to not having a good experience with the last 2 nurseries he has been in. Wow, this nursery has supplied everything I had wished for, they are all amazing they go above and beyond for every single child
in the setting. The Senco in the nursery is absolutely amazing and was constantly pulling myself and my son's dad in for a chat to see how he was getting on and updating us with various things. The manager who runs the nursery is amazing she is so kind and caring towards the children and staff! Our son's Keyworker went above and beyond and supported him so much, she loved him and cared for him as if he was her own. I would highly recommend the nursery to anyone who is looking for a nursery! We all loved being a part of the Treetops family xxxx

Thank you so much for those kind words. Every child is special in the Treetops family and we want every child to reach their potential. Part of that is working with parents in any way we can to support you, which is our privilege.
Thank you again for your lovely words, which I will pass on to the staff too.

My grandson attends Treetops Nursery and he loves it and so do we. We are all anxious due to his health but he has thrived so much and is now becoming more verbal. The staff are welcoming when I have picked or dropped off, staff always give me so much information about his day. I was invited along to
a Mother’s Day afternoon tea, it was such a lovely afternoon, great working with families. I enjoyed seeing him in this environment, the way he was with his teachers and with his friends. Hats off to the cook for delicious homemade scones. Real homely environment.

Thanks Denise, as grandparents ourselves, we know how important it is for our grandchildren to be happy, as well as making sure our children are happy too. It has been a privilege to help your grandson settle in and to make sure he is looked after too, in light of the health issues he has had to face. And thank you for the mention of the cook, she is an absolute gem! Always here if you need us.

Since my child has started Treetops Nursery Bootle, he has become more sociable and developing well. Treetops has been amazing, supporting him with his needs and great support to the family. The staff go above and beyond their roles and I am confident when leaving him, I feel like I am leaving him with
extended family I'm an anxious mum but all this feeling disappears when entering the nursery and seeing the smiles of the staff and other children.

Reply from David Bedford, Director at Treetops Nursery Bootle

Thank you so much for your kind words. This is exactly what we wanted to create here, that feeling of family and that any parent can comfortably leave their child here in the knowledge that they are safe and are being cared for. It is always reassuring for us to know that a mum with anxiety can be reassured that their child is happy and safe with us.

My daughter loves it here. I'm always amazed to hear about all the wonderful things she is learning and has gotten up to. A child's smile says it all really, that really is the best review.

Thank you, it is a pleasure to have your children with us, as well as working with you as parents too. We love to see the smiles as much as you do.
Thank you for your support,

5-stars. Honestly, a home away from home for my little two, the entire team are amazing and can't do enough for the children, and parents too.
As a teacher, early years education is something at the forefront of my mind for my children and every day I get to witness the different skills my kids have
learned and developed at nursery and the enthusiasm they have showing me what they have learned at nursery.
I couldn't recommend the nursery enough, having a positive relationship with your childcare is paramount and I feel nothing but ease leaving my kids here knowing they're going to have a great day!

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.243)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.243) out of 10 for Treetops Nursery Bootle is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.2 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Treetops Nursery Bootle is calculated as follows: ( (24 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.243 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Treetops Nursery Bootle is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 85 number of registered child places is 17. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 17 = 0.118

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

From 2009-2013, I worked for Knowsley Local Authority as an Early Years Quality Development Officer. In 2013, I was headhunted and given the opportunity to join Orchard Day Nursery in Huyton where I became the Manager.
