'Shaping little lives into bright futures'

Brockholes Wood Community Primary School and Pre-School is a wonderful place to be. They provide a safe and welcoming environment for children to learn and play. As well as the children, the staff team is what makes the school unique, as they are incredibly nurturing, caring, supportive and enjoy every moment that is spent learning with the children.

The Pre-School takes 3-4-year olds and the best thing about it is, a fully qualified teacher leads the provision! Most activities at the Pre-School are child led to allow children to grow and develop at their own pace, including opportunities in the outdoor area to learn about the environment.

The Pre-School children have the use of a large open room and an outdoor play area, with climbing equipment and plenty of space to explore and develop their independence and social skills. There are also many other smaller spaces for quiet time, like the reading corner, to help support children's wellbeing and self-regulation. Settings are designed to feel homely, whilst also providing the very best care and education for the children.

The children are at the heart of everything the nursery does, they ensure that they feel happy, safe and secure, whilst having a great deal of fun!

Visits are warmly encouraged so that you can feel the school’s amazing ethos for yourself. The website is incredibly informative but if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call the School Office or send an email.

Thank you for taking the time to look, The Brockholes Family look forward to meeting you.

Brockholes Wood has schooled 5 of our children so far and we wouldn't send our children anywhere else. They have supported our family through the years with additional support we needed at the time which helped us as a whole family massively. Our children have learned lots of values through the years,
which they have demonstrated in and out of school, Brockholes have given our 3 older children, who have gone to high school from here, the wings they needed to fly. An amazing school which have helped us mould our children into beautiful little people.

The school staff and nursery staff are just so amazing. I've got two children in the school and they are progressing very well. My little one is so happy being there and I can see a good progress on her since she's going to nursery.
I would definitely recommend Brockholes Wood Community Primary School
and Nursery.
Thank you.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.510) out of 10 for Brockholes Wood Community Primary School and Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for Brockholes Wood Community Primary School and Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (24 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.51 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brockholes Wood Community Primary School and Nursery is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 number of registered child places is 5.2. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.2 = 0.385

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Thank you for showing interest in our wonderful school. I am Miss Barber, the Headteacher at Brockholes Community Primary School, a place where the aim is to provide the best possible educational experiences for our children. My main aim for this school is to ensure children are happy, nurtured and safe whilst having insightful and enriching learning opportunities.

I qualified from Edge Hill University in June 2009 with a BA Hons degree in Primary Education and have been teaching in a school since January 2010. I have been privileged enough to work with children at many different schools with varying contexts and challenges and have always had a passion for helping and educating others. In September 2018, I became the Deputy Head at Brockholes and fell in love with the children, staff and community immediately. I knew this was the place I was meant to be! In September 2023, I started my next journey as the school's Headteacher.

I have a two-year-old child myself and can empathise with you all, in knowing the importance of the search for a preschool, where my child would feel at their happiest because ultimately, that is what we all want. A happy child. I urge you to come and visit our school if you are interested so that you can see for yourself, how happy our children and staff are and how much they love their learning. We love meeting new people and adding people to our Brockholes Family. I hope to be able to introduce myself in person to you soon.

I am Mrs Nuttall and I have been a teacher at Brockholes Wood School for many years where my role has involved teaching across all year groups. During this time, I have loved supporting and teaching the children to achieve their very best potential.

Since 2019 I have taught part-time in Pre-school, where I work all day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. I really enjoy teaching in the EYFS, it’s amazing seeing the children grow and become confident, independent learners ready to start their school journey in Reception class.

In pre-school we love reading stories! My favourite author for young children’s books is
Julia Donaldson.

I am a busy mum of two children and in my spare time, I enjoy walking my dog.

My goal is to continue to support the children at Brockholes Wood and provide the Preschool children with an engaging and exciting learning environment where they continue to thrive and become independent learners.
