Little Achievers Nursery in the Park, in Skelmersdale, has excellent indoor and outdoor play environments for early years learning, benefiting from strong community links, including with outreach workers and health visitors, to offer parents the complete childcare package.

Additional features include a fabulous Reggio Emilia inspired approach to early years, multi-sensory room, separate playrooms for babies and toddlers, and soft play surfacing. The nursery has pre-school facilities and an outdoor play is even accessible regardless of the weather. The multi-sensory room is a fabulous resource and the children benefit from spending time in this area, it can aid sensory skills and can be used to relax and calm too.

The outdoor area is amazing, with a very different covered area for all year around use and an outdoor activity room. Outdoors is split into areas to promote different challenges for children from potion making, constructing, tinkering on the piano, wheeled toys to aid spatial awareness, and a natural garden area for investigating and bug hunting.

Staff are all dedicated to ensuring the children have a safe, secure and stimulating environment that meets the children’s own individual needs and promoting independence whilst allowing them to take risks with adult support.

The nursery holds the coveted Millies Mark for excellence in paediatric First Aid (the only nursery in Skelmersdale to hold the award) and the Lancashire step into Quality Award.

I would just like to say this is an amazing nursery. Both my children have been going here since 2022 and they both absolutely loved it. They both ran in with a smile on their faces and did not cry once. Definitely recommend for the best start in your child's life, the staff are so professional and
keep your mind at ease. The manager is an amazing manager with an amazing team. The staff are so good with the children and all deserve everything they get. Well done to all that work here.

What an amazing nursery. All of the staff have been wonderful! My child has been here since he was 1. Cannot fault the setting or staff in any way.

My son started at 9 months and we were very anxious about putting him into nursery but we were instantly put at ease when viewing Nursery in the Park. All of the rooms are so cosy and welcoming and all of the staff are lovely! It is also nice to see photos and updates on the app. When picking up my
son at the end of the day I always find the handovers thorough! My son loves coming here, it will be a sad day when he leaves and goes to school.

I am really pleased with how our little boy is coming on in the nursery! He took a while to settle in but all the staff were really patient and reassuring! A handful of the staff are really friendly and will tell you how he's been, what he's got up to in the day but there are a few who are blunt. The
door system when picking up and collecting doesn't work, sometimes you are waiting for 5-10 minutes, left stood outside in the rain when someone is working sat on the reception. Other than our little boy enjoys the nursery.

The staff at Little Achievers Nursery in the Park are outstanding. I feel at ease putting my little one into the nursery every day to play with friends and staff. The communication is excellent between staff and myself both through the app as well as face to face. I can see the progress my little one
is making in such a short time of attending the nursery. The facilities are excellent, the nursery catering for dietary needs, I can't thank the staff enough for what they do. I would recommend this nursery to anybody putting their little ones into the nursery, the child is happy to go in of a morning and coming home.

This nursery is fantastic. My little girl has loved every day here with all the amazing staff; they go above and beyond to help my daughter. She is so happy and has come on leaps and bounds since being here. I am a super nervous mama, and leaving my little one here has made me settle loads, as she is

My little boy has been attending Little Achievers since September and has come on so much with his development and social skills. Even though he is in five days a week he absolutely loves it and is always happy when I hand him over in the morning to the girls, especially the Room Leader of the Toddler
Room, he always goes straight in for a cuddle when he sees her. This for me assures me so much that he is happy and well looked after at Little Achievers. the Room Leader of the Baby Room is so lovely and caring that I have no worries or concerns, and I am always being kept up to date with food, nappy changes, pictures and assessments. All the staff at Little Achievers go above and beyond and they are a credit to the Nursery, without them Little Achievers would not be who they are. Fantastic Nursery.

My son under 1 year of age (who can't walk) sustained a double head injury falling off a bridge and had to be taken to hospital to be checked over after he was picked up. Upon arrival mother was ambushed with a form requesting to sign here without any explanation as to what had happened other than 'bump
on the head'. This form was then edited after mother had left. Little Achievers have admitted to editing the accident form after a signature was obtained instead of representing it which is alarming as the validity of the form has been compromised. Ofsted informed of all events and responses. I raised my concerns and this was passed to the company owner who had no sympathy other than you are not getting a refund as we have followed procedures? I'm yet to be asked how my son is after explaining he had to visit the hospital the same day.
A small court claim has been submitted to recover the money.

We pride ourselves in being a very good and safe setting, that meets the needs of all our children individually and is always willing to go above and beyond. Where play is concerned age and developmental stage appropriate risk assessments are in place.
At the time of the accident part of your child developmental stage is investigating movement in preparation which means that this is the stage for bumps to occur. Unfortunately, accidents in children (and adults) happen – no matter the levels of supervision e.g. at home or in nursery. We are proud of the fact that we exceed staff qualification requirements at our nursery and all of our staff are trained in Paediatric First Aid – we hold the very coveted Millie’s Mark for our excellence in children’s first aid. We are sorry that your child bumped his head and can assure that it was dealt with in line with our regulated policy and the accident explained to mother upon arrival with the relevant documentation signed. At signing of the document – mum omitted adding the date of her signing, which the staff member then added
We were saddened hearing the news that you would be removing your child from our setting, as he had built a lovely relationship with our staff and seemed to be happy whenever left in our care. The accident/complaint was investigated by our Managing Director, and it was deemed to be just that, an accident and Ofsted informed of the outcome. Unfortunately following our terms and conditions that you signed on starting at nursery, there was actually no refund due.

So this is a huge end of an era for me as a parent. My daughter, who is now seven years old, also came to Little Achievers Nursery. My son, who is four years old, has had his graduation today and it is very emotional. I cannot put into words how fantastic the manager and her team have been over the
years. Both of my children have enjoyed their time here and I have felt confident and comfortable with all staff, 100%. Thank you to you all.

Joined: 2001

Andrea Norbury is the Nursery Lead at Little Achievers Nursery in the Park. Andrea completed her NNEB in 1987 and has worked in childcare ever since. Andrea started her career as a nanny, then supported children with additional needs, after that Andrea worked for Social Care before entering the private sector in 2001. Since then Andrea has completed an NVQ level 4 in management, a Foundation Degree and more recently an NVQ level 4 in Business Administration. Andrea has been at Little Achievers Nursery in the Park since it opened in 2006.

Andrea is passionate about safeguarding and is enthusiastic about developing the nursery and implementing change. Andrea is married with two adult sons whom she is very proud of.
