School House Day Nursery & Pre-school is set in a beautiful and idyllic location in Blackburn. As well as providing child care for early years children, School House now provides wrap around care and offers Holiday Club for children up to ages of 8.

The learning rooms have been carefully resourced and designed to mirror a natural feel, to allow the children to have the best learning opportunities and support them in meeting all areas of learning and development. They believe in providing opportunities for children to get hands-on and develop confidence in a natural environment, both indoors and outdoors. There are three excellent learning rooms that they provide. The three main rooms are: The Baby Room, which caters for 0–2-year-olds, The Tweenie Room catering for 2–3-year-olds and Pre-school, which is for children 3–4-year-olds, who are getting school ready.

All rooms are continuously set up with new, stimulating activities to make learning fun and exciting. They pride themselves on play areas being stimulating and educational - reflecting the children’s interest and learning topics. They understand that listening to the child's voice is paramount, and it is by listening to their needs and wants that they tailor learning experiences to meet every individual child within the setting.

The nursery offers swimming, dance and football lessons to ensure all children are offered the best opportunities in their early years. The nursery has a minibus which transports children around the community on day trips, educational outings, and forest & beach schools. The nursery takes on a Forest school learning approach, to allow children to learn and develop in the awe and wonder of nature.

  • We provide flexible nursery sessions including full time places, term time places and 15/ 30 hours funded places.

The manager is extremely rude and unprofessional. I have had incidents where my child has come home and told me teachers have been swearing, children are hitting her and nothing is being done about it. I tried contacting her and she decided not to respond to my emails. I would not recommend this place
unless there's a recent Ofsted report.

I am so happy that I send my son to this nursery. He's really, really come along and the staff definately help with some things that we try to do at home and encourage him. Staff also engage well with me and tell me what and where my child is up to. Can’t wait to send my youngest there soon.

I recently attended the valentines tea with my son from pre-school. It was a lovely atmosphere for all the children and parents to get together after such a long time. The nursery has made a lot of effort with the food, decorations and activities for the children. We had a great time.

My second child has just started at School House Nursery. Being only 14-months, he has settled in really well. The care, attention and communication are excellent. All my queries are responded to immediately, this gives me peace of mind being a full time working mum of 2 and having minimum face to face
contact with the nursery. My eldest child also attended this nursery, and she loved it. The extra activities such as swimming are great for the development of the children. My eldest now loves attending swimming lessons, and it gave her great confidence in the pool. The nursery is always clean and always welcoming, which is why I knew I would send my second child here too. I would always choose this nursery. The staff are brilliant and very accommodating to your needs.

This is the third nursery I have used since having children and is by far the best. My little girl is forever engaged in various activities every day. This has helped her development dramatically. She has recently had her 2-year development review at the local children’s centre. They were amazed by
her development for her age, of course, I explained I owed a lot of credit to her nursery for it. This is definitely the best nursery around, and my daughter loves going and has bonded with all of her carers.

I’ve sent all three of my children to School House over the past nine years. My youngest is about to enter the pre-school room, and we will be extremely sad to leave next July.
