Stepping Stones at Gomersal is situated within a residential area of Cleckheaton, Yorkshire, close to local schools. The nursery opened in 2005 and is perfectly located for local residents, parents and carers.

The nursery caters for children aged six weeks to five years. It offers a warm, homely environment bursting with resources that create inviting yet stimulating surroundings in which children progress and develop with the support of the close and dedicated team.

A large outdoor area available to children at all times, allowing them to free-flow between the indoor and outdoor areas. The nursery also take the children on regular outings both in the local community and beyond.

An absolutely fantastic nursery. Both my children attended and still attend Stepping Stones, my nephews also attended and I recommend the nursery for anyone looking for childcare. My youngest started out in the baby room at just 1 year old and is currently in pre-school and absolutely loves coming to
nursery. All the staff are amazing always on hand to answer any questions, always smiling and welcoming. The children do so much during their day and go out into the community as often as they can. The nursery manager will accommodate any requirements as best she can. The staff have very close relationships with all the children and not just their key children. Sad this is our last year with Stepping Stones but so happy my children had such a fantastic nursery to attend.

I feel totally at ease that my child will not just be safe and well cared for but that their developmental needs are well met; over and beyond our expectations. The team are so creative in the activities on offer and they offer a home-from-home environment allowing children the opportunity to go out
on regular trips from nursery and take risks (in a safe and well-managed way). I feel the staff at Stepping Stones Gomersal are down-to-earth, personable and professional. I have total confidence in the management and leadership of the nursery and my usual parent worries about managing the stages of my little boy's behaviour have always been met with understanding, reassurance, and strategies for managing this when I have asked for this. I would highly recommend this setting to any parent looking at nurseries for their precious babies or toddlers.

We absolutely love this nursery. Each morning every staff member is happy to see you. They’re so smiley and welcoming that you’re immediately put at ease. The care of the children is impeccable, the daily activities are so creative and educational, along with the seasonal activities. The food is amazing
and it’s so helpful getting a daily diary to know what has been eaten and how much. I can’t thank the staff enough for their care of our child, and we really appreciate the opportunity to be part of some of the activities, such as sports day, Christmas show etc. Thank you all again so much.

My 2 children both attend nursery with my little boy going for nearly 2 years and my daughter starting a few weeks ago. They both love spending time in nursery and they have both flourished especially my little boy. The staff have always been kind and helpful whenever I have had queries. Would definitley

We have had our child with Stepping Stones Gomersal for almost 2 years now and we have nothing but praise for them.
Every member of staff is fantastic in their own way. There is a great mix of age and experience in the team which is good to see.
They clearly care so much for the children and our
daughter loves going to nursery. She is so close to her supervisors.

Our son came to Stepping Stones in December after a previous nursery's failures. The staff have reinstated our faith in nursery settings. They are welcoming, innovative and provide new experiences for the children every day.
They take the children out into the community and they have regular themed
days and stay and play sessions for parents.
Every time we collect our son the staff are attentive and engaged with the children.
They teach the children independence and life skills. Our son has developed so well since joining Stepping Stones I cannot thank them enough.
The leadership and management are excellent and that is clear to see to parents as they are very visible within the nursery. Thank you stepping Stones for caring for our son.

Gomersal Stepping Stones is an amazing nursery. My little girl absolutely loves going to nursery, she has developed so much since she started attending. All the staff are so lovely and friendly as well so I always feel at ease knowing my baby is being looked after by this amazing bunch! There is always
so much going on for the children it’s a lovely environment with great outside space.

Stepping Stones is a fantastic nursery. Our daughter has enjoyed going from being 9 months old. It is amazing to see her feeling confident, safe and happy in the environment. It is also heartwarming to see the positive relationships she has built with staff and her peers.
There are regular events
where parents are invited to join and weekly photos of the children playing. You are also updated regularly on your child’s progress, their next steps of development and how you can support them at home.
The daily activities set out for the children are inspired by their current interests and the play is child-led. They regularly have trips out to the park or to see local animals.
I would highly recommend Stepping Stones!

My son has really settled into nursery since starting in April 2023. At first he was a little unsure, however, the team have worked really hard to ensure he is happy and settled! Every time we pick him up we are given a detailed account of his day. I can tell my son has really taken to his key worker!
All the team are friendly and even the staff that work in other parts of the nursery know my son's name which is really nice.

Fantastic nursery with great staff. Our child loves going and was made to feel welcome from day one. The staff are all very patient and knowledgeable when it comes to the development of the children. We love Stepping Stones Nursery!
The staff are so supportive and helpful, and my son has loved his time there. From being a baby to now, verging on going to school next month, he's had such a brilliant time.
The standard of care and the activities and fun he has are all I could want for him and more
in a nursery. From speaking to friends with children at other establishments, I know that they're well above the standard. The staff have also been phenomenal and great help with any support we've needed, and I'm so grateful. If I had my time again, I'd absolutely go to Stepping Stones for my son's childcare. He's a smart, sensitive and happy boy, and I'm certain that Stepping Stones has actively contributed to his development.

My little boy started here in May. The only way to describe the nursery and team is amazing! They put every effort into making you and your child feel at ease with their first days. The communication from the nursery is brilliant they keep you in the loop with everything. The food menu is delicious
with such a variety during the week, the activities are not only fun but educational bringing the children on leaps and bounds. They take them out at least twice a week which I think is fantastic! My little boy absolutely loves coming here and I'm so glad I chose stepping stones. Thank you!

Stepping Stones Nursery Gomersal- they are 100% the best nursery around. They have looked after my little boy from being 4 months old and he has grown into a clever and bright little boy. They have helped him with walking, talking, potty training and writing his own name. They were always able to fit
him in for extra days or let me drop him off early or pick him up late in an emergency.
They have engaged him with loads of food that I thought he would never try.
They truly are the best and we are really going to miss them all.

Stepping Stones Gomersal has been a fantastic nursery for my twins. They started at age one and are leaving now at age three. The nursery has a warm and caring atmosphere. The staff are friendly and outgoing and show a genuine interest in each child. The manager of the nursery is very caring, trustworthy
and hardworking. The nursery put on many events for families to attend. They show genuine care towards all who attend and work hard to put on fun activities and learning for the children.

Both my children have attended Stepping Stones, my youngest has just left to start school in September.
The nursery became a 2nd home for my children whilst there, my youngest started weaning there, took her first steps there and loved all the staff members so much. For context my youngest started
full-time at six months old on the first day of the covid pandemic, she was, and still is a dinky little thing. Despite the pandemic being the first 12-18 months of her nursery life the staff made up for it 10x over, they worked tirelessly and in stressful conditions to ensure that all the children flourished during this time.
I can not speak highly enough of all the staff there, my daughter will truly miss everyone and I’d highly recommend Stepping Stones to anyone looking at care for their children.

We moved to Sepping Stones after issues at our sons previous nursery. We have found the staff here to be happy, professional and patient. The setting is quite small and homely, the staff are all regular, no high turn around and no agency staff. Our son has never been happier. They go out almost daily
on local walks, to parks and a summer coach/theme park trip annually. I feel completely relaxed knowing my son is in good, caring hands when I drop him off.

I have had two children attend this nursery and both have loved their nursery life!
The staff are without a doubt the best part of this nursery. I have always had a good relationship with them, felt confident that my children were getting the best care and I felt supported on the rollercoaster of parenthood.
I
love that they take them on simple, regular days out and pick activities based on what they feel interested in that week to keep them engaged.
They take any concerns onboard and discuss to help resolve them.
The only downside is there is quite a bit of turnover on the staff. However, there has a always been a number of long standing staff that remained that I felt confident with until I'd built a relationship with newer staff.
The manager is fab and you can tell her team value her, as did my children who both really took to her.
We leave at the end of summer for the last time and I know we will miss them.

Hello,


My name is Hannah and I joined  Stepping Stones in October 2019 starting my journey as a Nursery Practitioner over this time I have developed many new skills and experiences that have enabled me to continue progressing further. I enjoy seeking new challenges and strive to develop my staff team to be the very best. After 5 years with the Stepping Stones family, I am proud to have progressed into the role of Deputy Nursery Manager.


I hold a level 3 Diploma in Children’s Learning and Development. I also regularly attend internal and external training to enhance my professional knowledge, practices and personal development.


I love to look at different ways how to develop a nursery and make sure we are providing the best we possibly can every day to give children the best start in life.
