Kids Planet Barkston Ash caters for babies, tots, toddlers, pre-school and out of school care with quality staff and lots of outdoor space.

The main nursery is divided into three bands according to age groups, but regardless of age unit, each child will experience positive and loving relationships with their assigned key person and other staff and children.

Each child is unique and Rainbow offers a varied day to ensure your child is stimulated, educated and entertained through a flexible daily routine to meet their individual needs. A range of activities are provided for all stages of development, both adult-led and child-led.

All children are given the opportunity to express themselves through music, dance, painting and messy play. Rainbow looks at all seven areas within the EYFS to ensure a great learning experience.

My 20-month-old son started with Rainbows three weeks before the Covid-19 Pandemic. We worried about him settling back in after such little time there and such a big break, but we didn’t need to - within three days he went from shying away to running in happily. The staff are fantastic, very smiley
and welcoming. The nursery is in an amazing location with such beautiful surroundings. Communication is strong between parent/staff, I absolutely love the app updates at the end of each day. My son has developed in so many areas in such a short time and is always excited to go see his friends in the Blue room. It makes such a huge difference to parents working day, knowing their child is happy. I couldn’t be happier with the care my son receives.

My two children have been attending Rainbow for a combined total of 11-years. I can say without hesitation that it is and always has been a first-class private nursery school. Every aspect of Rainbow is excellent. The management is exceptionally well organised (and the owners are both lovely!). The
staff are incredibly caring. The setting is beautiful - there are so many outside spaces for the children to enjoy. Even the food is impressive - I have often been jealous of what my kids have had for lunch at Rainbow! It obviously isn't the cheapest place around, but then again I wouldn't want to cut corners when it comes to my children's welfare, and with Rainbow, I know that they are in the very best place that they can be, so in my view, it is money well spent. They get a big thumbs up from me.

We have two children with Rainbows aged 4 and 7.
Whilst the older of the two is very much in school, we have used the flexible day services provided by the nursery. Our youngest is in her final year, having been with the nursery from being a baby.
Our experience of Rainbows is very much a positive
one, and the well-rounded but quite different children we have are testimony to the care, support and development the Rainbows staff have provided. Both our children have also benefitted from intimate relationships forged with key workers which we believe has enhanced their experience.
The team at Rainbows are receptive to feedback to ensure the highest standards are maintained and have made a number of changes over the time our children have attended to meet the requirements of regulators and wishes of parents.
As parents, we always wanted a place where we could be confident in the safety and support our children receive whilst we work. Rainbows is that place - a very special place.

We have been sending our Son to Rainbows for over 2-years now, and I could not be happier. The staff made him feel safe and happy, which meant we could feel confident he was getting the care he needed whilst we went off to work. The facilities are amazing, and there is never a dull day! Transitions
to different rooms within the setting have been easy as the staff prepare the children really well and know how to create a calm and welcoming environment. The staff are always happy to chat through any concerns, and it's easy to get hold of people in the office to discuss anything. My son thrives at Rainbows and even asks to go there on the weekend! Throughout the Covid pandemic, they have been really communicative and put our minds and ease that they have been doing everything in their power to keep the children and staff safe. I would highly recommend Rainbows nursery.

I cannot praise the staff enough for their thorough communication during the strange year they have found themselves in. This is however always the case. The communication book and use of the app; means I always know what my son has done during a session at Rainbow Nursery, which is really important
to me. On top of this, the use of early learning goals means I can see how the activities he does impact on his development, which again I love! Besides all this, the staff are absolutely lovely. So friendly and welcoming and go out of their way to make sure every child is happy and feels safe. We visited Rainbow back in autumn 2019, planning for my son to start when he turned two years old. Within seconds of putting him down, he was happy and secure enough to investigate and engage with the other babies and adults. I was so happy that he was so comfortable that we decided he should start when he turned one instead and haven't regretted it for a second.

Both of my children have been in Rainbows since they were little, starting in the nursery and now in the junior club. They've loved every minute and Rainbows has been fantastic. The practitioners are wonderful and provide a safe and secure environment in which my children have and continue to thrive!

The opening hours are really convenient as both my husband and I work full time.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rainbows to anyone looking for childcare.

I would highly recommend Rainbows to any parent wishing to choose a top-quality nursery. Not only are the staff, friendly and professional, they really aid your child’s development and skill progression.

I have only the highest praise for Rainbow Nursery. I have four children attending the nursery and junior club. I have always been so impressed with the care and professionalism of all the practitioners. They will always go the extra mile to care for the children and also support the parents too.

is a very safe environment, and all of the outside space is a massive plus.

Our son has been extremely happy at Rainbow Nursery, and we have found it particularly impressive in how they have dealt with the current COVID situation - keeping parents up to date, implementing additional health and safety procedures quickly and effectively and ensuring the happiness of the children
in their care remains a priority.
The facilities at Rainbow are excellent - Clean, bright and spacious rooms, lots of good quality toys and activities, books and lots of outdoor space. There is also a varied and nutritious menu, and the practitioners are fantastic. They are so warm and caring and formed a wonderful bond with our son. We found that all of our requests were taken into account, and felt confident leaving him in their care. Definitely the best nursery in the area, in our opinion.

I am more than happy with the childcare provision we secured for both of our children at Rainbow Nursery. The staff are friendly, caring and very attentive to the needs of the children and parents, (it’s hard leaving your babies) and I want to thank them for that! They have been wonderful.
Both our
children had food allergies, and they couldn’t have done more to accommodate their nutritional needs whilst at nursery.
I was also really impressed with the Pre-school setting. My daughter was more than ready to start school last September thanks to the provision. She was singing the phonics songs all summer long and confidently moved up to reception, where her reading has continued to impress me all year long. That is thanks to a brilliant start within the pre-school team!

Granted I am a first-time mummy and my experience of nurseries is therefore not overly large, however, I could not hold Rainbow Nursery any higher than I do. All the staff, form my don’s leading carers, to the additional carers who looked after him during the COVID-19 period, to one lady who has talked
me down off many a mummy-ledge and the owners themselves who were amazing to talk to during the pandemic. The staff have put me, my partner, and most importantly my baby, at ease from the moment we had our initial viewing of the nursery. I especially love the detailed update I receive both in written form and through photos of his day so that we are still able to feel like we know what he’s been up to. The wide range of activities he has completed since attending is great, and we couldn’t be happier with the progress he has shown since attending. I would recommend this nursery to any parent, and I’m so grateful we found the perfect place for our baby boy.

From the moment I walked into Rainbow nursery for a show round visit, I knew then that I wanted my twins to attend.
Everyone and I mean everyone, is so kind, thoughtful and so loving, you have such a heartfelt feeling instantly that no other nursery gives (and I visited a lot)!
I was so comfortable
in deciding that Rainbow was the right nursery for us and not a moment since then have I felt any different.
The twins are so happy each morning to go to the nursery and always have a fun-filled day with play activities, leaving an amazing menu of food!
I love the daily reports you receive about what the children have been up to each day along with photos, paintings and decorated biscuits!
Rainbow is highly organised and always there to offer help, guidance and support when needed.
Nothing is too much trouble for Rainbow, and they are a credit all to themselves!

I have done and will continue to recommend Rainbow Nursery to any parent/s of nursery aged children that I come into contact with. After visiting more or less every nursery in our area when deciding on where to place our firstborn, once we had visited Rainbow, it was an absolute no-brainer. Not only
are the facilities second to none, but the key thing for us - the friendly and helpful staff are exceptional. The communications between nursery and parents are fantastic with regular online updates of your child’s progress and they run regular events where parents can come spend time in the setting with their child and chat to the carers and managers. We had no hesitation in sending our second child to Rainbow, and our only regret is that we didn’t place our first child into their care earlier than we did. I can not recommend them highly enough so if you want excellent care and peace of mind your child is being well looked after then look no further.

My two children (who are now 13 and 8) were full-time attendees from 6 and 9months old, and I really valued the care they received. My daughter had hip dysplasia at birth and through medical complications had to have surgery at 1-year-old and then spent 13 weeks in a chest-to-toe plaster cast. The practitioners
in the baby room went out of their way to ensure she was equipped with everything she needed to play, eat and rest in comfort. Both of my children learnt valuable social skills from a very early age and developed lovely friendships with children and practitioners alike. Rainbow has always been flexible when circumstances required, and I've even attended first aid training that the facility has arranged for parents. The rooms are clean, well-equipped and decorated and the outdoor spaces are fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rainbow to any new parent.

We moved our eldest child to Rainbow from another nursery 3-years ago, and the difference was unbelievable. Our youngest has now been through all the different age groups here and is moving onto school soon, but both will continue to use the holiday club here.
The staff are so professional, the setting
is clean and clearly invested in, there are amazing multiple outdoor play areas, and I love getting the daily updates via the app. But for us, one of the things that struck us most is how content the children are. At the previous nursery, we used there would always be children crying at drop off and pick up, but I think it is testament to how proactive the staff at Rainbow and how settled the children feel, that we rarely see children upset.
Rainbow nursery is a big setting and was overwhelming as a parent at first. But don't let this put you off - the daily contact is focussed on the room and staff where your child is.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rainbow to anyone.

Rainbow is a wonderful family environment where our children have thrived. The staff are great - always friendly, helpful and so caring. I have been very happy with this nursery for both my children who have been attending this now for almost a year without a break (even during lockdown for Covid-19!). I have experience of almost all rooms now from baby room to preschool, and I don't have a single complaint to make. All I can say is
that the staff are brilliant in taking care of the children with appropriate and varied activities for each development stage. The environment both inside and outside is very pleasant and stimulating, and one main reason why I chose this setting was the extensive outside spaces. Both my children love going to this nursery full-time every day, and I am pleased to always find them with a smiley face when I pick them up; I think this is the best proof that the nursery is actually doing an excellent job.

My name is Lisa Watson and I am the Nursery Manager here at Rainbow Nursery. My background has always been in Early Years, I went straight into college from leaving school to complete my Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Early Years. After completing this I started my career working in a small day nursery.

I joined the Rainbow team in 2006, working as a nursery practitioner, after a couple of years I decided to go back into studying part time and completed my BA Hons Degree in Young Children’s Learning and Development and my Early Years Professional Status (EYPS). Since then I have been manager of the Baby Nursery, Deputy Manager of the nursery, and then took on the role of Nursery Manager in 2013.

As the manager at Rainbow Nursery my role alongside the managers of the Baby Nursery, Day Nursery, Preschool and Junior Club, is to ensure the smooth running of the nursery, ensuring our policies and procedures are implemented and the children receive the highest standard of care possible.

My vision for Rainbow Nursery is for it to be a home from home environment and an environment in which children can reach their full potential. Children learn best when they are comfortable. We encourage all of our practitioners to build strong bonds with the children, I also feel it is important that our management team do this as well. People often ask me how I remember every child’s name within the nursery….. this is because it is important to me that every child feels important and that they are treated as an individual.

I encourage open communication with parents/carers with both myself, the area managers and the practitioners. We love parents to engage with us in two way communication and use the industry leading Tapestry online learning journal to facilitate this. We don’t hold events such as ‘parents evenings’ at Rainbow as we will always make the time to talk to parents about their children at any time. Parent feedback is important to me, this is how we grow, how we know what we are doing right and how we know what we can improve on.
