Blue Sky Day Nursery York is the second in a small chain of local family owned and run day nurseries, the first opened in 2005 and has been going from strength to strength ever since.

As parents themselves they understand the difficulties balancing being a parent with running a home, work and other commitments so they aim to offer childcare that is not only of the highest quality but fits in with what you need!

Therefore they try to offer services that will meet your every childcare requirement.

When looking to expand the business the factors most important to them were team, location and facilities. They wanted a bright, warm and friendly space filled with love, colour and light, where children and parents can feel at home, comfortable and safe.

They believe they have found all of that and more in their York branch where fantastically flexible care is provided by an amazing team of loving, caring, qualified, childcare professionals who want to care for your child as they would their own.

The outdoor play area is a huge bonus to the setting and they utilise this daily, allowing the children as many hours as possible to enjoy the opportunity for fresh air, exercise and learning in a secure, fun and sometimes messy outside environment.

Meals are prepared on site fresh each day and aim to cover a wide range of healthy balanced meals.

Their menu is based on the ‘eat well plate’ which is low in salt and sugar but high in fruit, vegetables and lean meats.

Staff never force a child to eat anything but the caring team will encourage children to try and experience new and exciting foods to widen their taste palates which all adds to their learning experience. They happily cater for allergies, food intolerances and religious or special dietary needs.

We were so happy with how our first child was cared for, our second child has now joined too. The staff are always friendly, helpful and understanding, and leave you fully confident that the children will be well looked after. The children are always doing something different or going somewhere different
on an adventure, and they always get well-fed and come home happy, worn out from playing, and quite often with their latest masterpieces! Great job Blue Sky!

Great nursery, brilliant staff. My daughter gets upset when she's not going to nursery. She loves it there and she learns a lot. They always plan new things for kids and take them for short adventures which my daughter can not stop talking about. Highly recommend.

My son started with Blue Sky when he was 11 months old, we had a walk round and two taster sessions which was great. All the staff are amazing and treat my little boy like their own. He absolutely loves going and his confidence has grown. He learns new things every day, they do themed activities daily
and he always comes home with lovely artwork and baking. The food is well-balanced and he has tried lots of new foods and plenty of healthy snacks. This is a great nursery would highly recommend.

Sent my first child here and she absolutely enjoyed it. All the staff are great and super professional and friendly.
I had no hesitation in sending my little boy here. He’s been attending since August 2023 and it was a teary start but what child likes leaving their mum? I believe he enjoys his time
there and I’m kept up to date with photos and a verbal conversation of his day.
The nursery always answers any questions big or small and is on hand to help with everything and anything.

We have used this nursery with both of our children. 2017 to 2021 and 2022 to present.
This nursery is wonderful. Can't recommend it enough. Flexibility is wonderful and so helpful. Both children absolutely loved and love going so much. They always want to return.
Any concerns raised with staff
are always dealt with swiftly and appropriately.
It'll be a sad day when my youngest goes off to school. But then again there is always a holiday club!

Brilliant nursery, my son has SEN and they have been nothing but brilliant catering for his needs and making sure he’s happy, would recommend this nursery 100% the only nitpick I have is not having a picture system so I can see what my son is up to more but I understand its a busy nursery and they still
put a few on social media if they can, still this doesn’t affect how brilliant they are as a nursery!

Blue Sky is a fantastic nursery. The staff are all so friendly, helpful and caring. They have a genuine interest in the children and make sure parents are updated daily with verbal handover and notes. Their facilities are brilliant, a huge outside area means they can be outside as much as possible,
even in cooler weather and their open plan kitchen means the children can see where their food is coming from. My daughter loves going to nursery, there is so much going on with different activities for her and it is a huge relief to us to have found a nursery like Blue Sky I can’t recommend the nursery, and all of the brilliant staff there, enough.

My daughter started nursery in August last year as my maternity was coming to an end. I was super nervous with such a change in environment, especially being born in lockdown. The nursery staff however were so reassuring and assured me my daughter will be well looked after. She settled in quickly and
now enjoys nursery, and looks forward to going. They do so many meaningful activities and she has come on in leaps and bounds in her development. The nursery staff are great with her and know her so well. Three members of staff are many of her favourites. She has developed such a great bond with one staff member, in particular, which is also great for me to see that she is bonding and mixing with other people including making lots of friends.

Both my boys go here and absolutely love it. Our oldest has been going since he was around 10 weeks old when I went to the gym next door I would pop him in the Adhoc creche sessions. our now 2 year old and 10 month old both go and absolutely love it, we never get a second glance when they go in at
the start of the day. The staff are fabulous with them both and they are thriving, they are always doing something and most of the time they are outside in a secure garden which is lovely to see. Working shifts and offering flexible childcare this nursery is an absolute dream for our family and so glad that we found it. Both my boys adore the deputy manager. I also love that we get a detailed rundown of what they have done in the day both good and bad. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Blue Sky is an absolutely fantastic provider. My son started here when he was nine months old and now, almost two, he thoroughly enjoys his time there. He loves all of the staff, including the manager of the nursery, who spends alot of time getting to know all of the children.


Blue Sky staff are

always very happy, smiley and enthusiastic, and they really do treat the children as if they were their own. The outside space is great, and they provide a good range of creative activities for the children to engage with. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursery to anyone.

My daughter started at this nursery recently, and she seems to love it here. It is smaller than her previous nursery, and that seems to be benefitting her. She comes home talking about her friends and is happy to go back the next day. All of the staff seem lovely and are always helpful and always tell
you a bit about what the children have been doing. They are also good at accommodating any changes to your schedule.

Blue Sky have been lifesavers over the COVID-19 period. When our regular nursery closed, we were so grateful to Blue Sky for accepting my little girl and making the process easy.
We were welcomed, felt safe and it has been well organised throughout. My little girl has continued to enjoy nursery and
it has been stress-free for us, the parents.
The nursery is clean and the staff are very professional and attentive to the children. The facilities are fantastic and allow the children lots of different environments to learn in.
My little girl got a whole new group of friends when coming to Blue Sky that she enjoyed seeing and we will miss the nursery now she is at school.

Blue Sky have been very accommodating. Our little boy is very attached to the staff there, is always excited to see them and doesn't look at us twice when we drop him off. He does loads of outside play and I get pictures on Facebook. He never comes home hungry and never had a nappy rash. I have already
