Refurbished in 2020 and located conveniently right in the heart of Newcastle, Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School Newcastle is spacious and bright, with large rooms for each age group and a sensory room for storytime.

They are big on happy children and that's why they take care of each other and the world, have regular visits to their local care homes, and have a growing area for food. They have 5 little pioneers who help share their core values with the children, from making their own choices to encouraging them to be independent.

The nursery is silver eco schools accredited, a programme that sees children lead the way in making real environmental differences. Their staff are also all paediatric first aid trained as they are big on safety.

They also have an app, ParentZone, which keeps mums and dads informed about life at nursery, from photos, meals eaten and even toilet training progress!

There are four home rooms with the nursery split into the following age groups: three months to one-year-olds, one to two-year-olds, two to three-year-olds and three to five-year-olds.

The nursery staff have been really supportive with my child's developmental needs.
My child enjoys the different activities.
The nursery has children from diverse ethnic backgrounds, so my child gets exposed to mixed cultures. He is also encouraged to talk about his own culture and family back home
in another country.

My little boy started with Little Pioneers when he was 2.5 and he’s just turned 4. I scoured all nurseries for the right one and even trialled some but Little Pioneers was the nursery for us. Many staff have been there for years - a sign they’re happy and content and it really shows in how they look
after my boy. It’s a great place of fun, education and care and we couldn’t wish for a better place for our boy to start his learning. It was a rough ride when he first started as he had separation anxiety but the staff were gentle with him and me and now he skips in. I also love the diversity - there are a huge range of kids with different needs, cultures and personalities and the aggregate of that is an inclusive culture that has set up my boy for school. My little boy leaves nursery soon for school but I can honestly say he has built behaviours, friendships and knowledge that have prepared him so well for his next step.

My daughter has loved going to nursery and has learnt so much from all of you. She is such a sociable little girl because of you all and I can’t thank you enough for the encouragement you have given her along the way.

Throughout her time at Little Pioneers my daughter has developed so much! From her use of speech to her understanding of routines, she has learned so much and from such a lovely group or staff! We will very much miss coming here when she starts school in September but all of the staff have gone above
and beyond when trying to help us prepare for such a big change!

This is a fantastic nursery! My son loves coming to his preschool every day and the staff and teachers are all amazing. This nursery truly offers a caring and supportive environment. I feel confident that my son is safe and well looked after. Little Pioneers are also accommodating towards special needs
and they have really gone above and beyond for our toddler, who was recently diagnosed with type one diabetes. The support and assistance the staff have offered to us in dealing with his daily diabetes care has been incredible. It's not been easy for them or us, but I cannot thank the staff enough for all their patience, help and support.

Absolutely love this nursery. My child is thriving and it’s all thanks to this fantastic nursery and the lovely staff. You can tell that the staff truly care about the children that they care for and they go above and beyond to make sure that both children (and parents!) are comfortable. As a first
time mum I was very anxious to have my child at nursery however the staff always update me on how he is doing throughout the day and they have done wonders in terms of aiding his development. My son can’t get in the door quick enough each morning! Highly recommend.

We are overall very happy with the kind of services provided by the nursery. However, I was wondering if you find below two points to be considered or not!
1. If a regular fire drill is necessary to make familiar the kids with the fire alarm and evacuation process during emergency escape.
2. If a
regular health check-up by any professional would be required or not!

Thank you for your review. We have a monthly fire drill where the children evacuate the building and every Thursday at 10 am the alarm sounds, where the children practice lining up.
We regularly have health care professionals visit the setting where it has been communicated there is a need for it.

The nursery overall is a very nice place to be, the facilities are up to standard and their biggest asset - their staff, are extremely friendly and helpful. We get frequent updates via the ParentZone app which is very handy for letting us know what our child has been getting up to throughout the day,
especially towards the end of the day before we pick them up so that we can plan the rest of the evening in advance.


Their meals are varied and encourages our child to try out new things frequently, and the app updates us as to what they've had and whether they enjoyed it or not.


They, weather permitting, go out for walks and teach the children about nature - a nice touch.


I feel that our child is very well looked after to the point that they are raring to go in the morning and reluctant to leave in the afternoon. We can rest assured that our child is in good hands and we can go about our day without worrying too much at all.

My child always seems happy to go in and seems happy on pick up. He now gets excited when he sees his nursery and he’s only still very young (13 months)

My son loves coming to Little Pioneers. The staff are so warm and welcoming, and really take care of him if he is upset when he first arrives, or at any other point during the day for that matter!


There's real variety in the activities he takes part in, but they follow his lead in terms of what he

wants to focus on.


I would not hesitate to recommend this setting.

The key person for my son is really good, caring and understanding.
But the financial policies are very rigid and does not account in human and health element. My son got a chest infection 3 times in 1.5 months and he did not go to nursery for a full month but I had to pay in full and nothing was
adjusted for us.

Cannot praise this nursery enough, my son joined just before his second birthday and has come on in leaps and bounds. All aspects of his development are flourishing. The staff are absolutely lovely and it's a pleasure to see how much he enjoys it. Really love the app updates whenever he is in, provides
an easy, effective line of communication between nursery and home. The nursery itself is just stunning and I fell in love the second I viewed it. The nursery rooms are full of activities, not to mention the gorgeous atrium and the outside space with a great view of all the trains (much to my son's delight!)

Amazing nursery and staff! I moved my little one from another nursery and had such a bad experience with them!


The staff at Newcastle Little Pioneers have been so understanding about my son being behind and having challenging behaviour but instead of making me feel like he was always getting things

wrong like in the last nursery, they have been lovely and made me feel so at ease when dropping and picking him up, all my anxiety about leaving him in someone else’s care have been completely been removed since the first day of moving him!


Thank you so much to the Pre-School teacher and all of the rest of the childcare staff!

My little girl goes to this lovely nursery part-time and she had settled in so well. The team at the nursery is wonderful everyone you meet is lovely with the kids and takes time to say hi and talk to you about your child’s day at the nursery. I was so nervous for my girl to start nursery but from the
first day of her attending, I was already reassured that she would be looked after well. The updates from the app are priceless and allows you to stay connected to what your child is doing during her time at nursery. I love that they are honest about what she eats and tell me when she has not liked particular foods. One of the managers I have met often when dropping my daughter is lovely with her and very present in the day to day running of the nursery which is a positive thing. I am happy that my child is observed and anything that needs improving for her benefit is picked up and a plan put in place to support her, although it's not a small setting it has a wonderful family feel.
